00:00It's official, a Harry Potter TV series is happening.
00:04The live-action TV series will live on the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max,
00:08which has been rebranded to Simply Max.
00:11Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced the news on Wednesday morning
00:15during a presentation that revealed how streamers HBO Max and Discovery Plus would be integrated.

00:31The stories from each of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books will become a decade-long series
00:35produced with the same epic craft, love, and care this global franchise is known for.
00:41The series will feature a new cast to lead a new generation of fandom,
00:44full of the fantastic detail, much-loved characters,
00:47and dramatic locations that Harry Potter fans have loved for over 25 years.
00:52Each season will be authentic to the original books,
00:55and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world,
00:59while the original, classic, and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise
01:03and available to watch globally.
01:05According to Casey Bloys, the chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content,
01:10the Harry Potter TV series will be on the budget of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon,
01:15with the latter's first season clocking in at $125 million.
01:19He said,
01:20It will be that scale or higher, whatever it takes to make a quality show.
