00:00HBO is giving more details about their new Harry Potter series.
00:04During a recent conversation in Cannes, Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group,
00:09gave updates on all of the studio's big projects like Shrinking, Abbott Elementary, Ted Lasso, and more.
00:15But one that's really had everyone talking is the Harry Potter reboot.
00:18There's not a lot to talk about at this moment.
00:21We've got our fantastic writing staff in place, and they are doing what they need to do.
00:24And casting calls have opened up in the UK and Ireland, so the process is moving along.
00:29It's going quite well.
00:30When probed further on the excitement of having an IP like Harry Potter to play with,
00:34Dungey said,
00:35And as somebody who is a huge fan of books, the opportunity to get to explore them
00:41may be a little bit more in-depth than you can in just a two-hour film.
00:45That's the whole reason we're on this journey.
00:47In June, the series named Francesca Gardner as its writer and showrunner
00:51and tapped Mark Mila to direct multiple episodes.
00:54Both are Emmy winners for HBO's Succession.
00:56Elsewhere, Dungey also gave an update on Ted Lasso,
00:59noting that star, head writer, and co-creator Jason Sudeikis
01:02is really excited about the upcoming Season 4.
01:06We had always been clear that there wasn't going to be more Ted Lasso
01:09if Jason and the team weren't feeling excited about it.
01:11I can tell you firsthand that he's in a place where he's feeling really excited
01:15and very good about it.
