00:00First of all, I have to celebrate, I have to celebrate the looks tonight.
00:03Thanks.
00:03They look, I want, yeah, like I want a touch.
00:06On a scale from like zero to one, what would you rate this?
00:09Uh, a zero to one?
00:11Yeah, so decimals.
00:12Okay, I think it's a, it's a .99 repeating.
00:16Well, that's really nice.
00:17Yeah.
00:17Yeah.
00:18What would you get?
00:18But zero was supposed to be good.
00:19Oh, well then.
00:21This is my own fault for not, not asking for the rules.
00:23What would you rate this?
00:24You fell into the trap.
00:24I mean, I would rate this jacket off the chart.
00:27Yeah, when my, when my guy brought it.
00:29And then I saw Joss and of course we'd be somehow texturally related.
00:32I was going to say, there is a, there's a, yeah, there's a tale here.
00:36Congratulations on getting to this moment.
00:38This must just feel incredible.
00:40Looking at your fellow nominees, looking at the people in this, in this room, in this tent,
00:44whose work has inspired you this year?
00:47Well, let's see.
00:48I mean, I think a lot of the work, the design work and the costume work of a lot of the,
00:54a lot of the other nominees has really, really inspired us.
00:58I think also the, the, the film, I'm Still Here and a lot of the documentary work this
01:04year, very strong documentaries this year.
01:06Yeah.
01:07I have a really strong affinity for the sugar cane folks because, you know, their film is
01:12dealing with a lot of the, the similar sort of reform school, Catholic school trauma.
01:17But yeah, there's actually too many and to call one out is to make enemies amongst others.
01:23Right, right, right.
01:24Well, the Oscars are, uh, it's a night of celebration, but it's also a night where people
01:29can take a moment where they're having a speech to use their platform to say something they
01:32want to say.
01:33Are you thinking about, do you know what you're going to say if you're going to get up there?
01:35Do you have a statement that you want to make tonight?
01:37Um, I think I always have a statement I want to make, so I can't imagine, yeah, I mean,
01:44yeah, exactly.
01:45I feel like any opportunity to speak to, uh, folks who traditionally would not hear your
01:50voice if you're interested in things is an opportunity to take.
01:54So if we were to win, I'll definitely say something not too radical, but hopefully inspiring.
01:59You know what?
01:59Just go for it.
02:00Shake the night off.
02:01I don't know, like, this isn't, I don't want to be, I mean, I want to be a meme, but
02:04a good meme and like, well, I mean, when you get to this point, you, I'm sure it changes
02:09the conversations that you're having about projects you want to possibly be doing.
02:12Is there anything that you maybe genre wise or just straight up want to manifest something
02:16particular that you would really love to do next?
02:19I think we, we have some, some projects in the pipeline, so excited about that.
02:23And, you know, always, always thinking forward about other things to do, but also thinking
02:29about what's, what's a good way to respond to this moment.
02:32I mean, you mentioned the political situation.
02:34So also thinking about, you know, as artists, how do we respond?
02:38What's the best way to respond?
02:39Yeah.
02:39And I will say, I think, I think I've made enough films for people to say that I can make
02:45things relatively well.
02:46So I'm asking someone to give me $10 million to, for two projects.
02:51Both of them, uh, I think have long cultural lives, but like it has to be philanthropic because
02:57there's not really a return, but I think they're of deep meaning and can change a lot of people's
03:02view on the world.
03:02So $10 million someone.
03:04And you know what it is.
03:05Oh yeah.
03:05They're written out.
03:06They've been, been thinking about them for five years.
03:08Been talking with Josh for five, six years about them.
03:10So we're just kind of waiting for someone to, uh, to trust in the, the projects.
03:14All right.
03:14$10 million.
03:15Who's got it?
03:16Let's do it.
03:17Let's do it.
03:17Let's do it.
