The Academy unveiled its 2019 Oscar nominations early Tuesday morning. The Oscar nominations announcement took place at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater, with Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross hosting.

00:05The nominations for the 91st Academy Awards are officially in with critical darling The Favourite
00:10and Netflix drama Roma leading the charge with 10 nominations each.
00:14The Favourite garnered recognition in categories such as Best Actress for lead Olivia Colman,
00:19plus supporting actress noms for co-stars Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz.
00:23The comedy drama Period Piece will also vie for the coveted Best Picture Award
00:27and additional nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Director,
00:32Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Original Screenplay.

00:40Roma, meanwhile, is up for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress,
00:46Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Production Design,
00:51Best Cinematography and Best Original Screenplay.
00:54The Netflix Original is the first Best Picture nominee for which there are no box office grosses.

01:07Vice and A Star Is Born followed closely behind with eight nominations apiece,
01:12including for Best Picture, Best Actress for Lady Gaga,
01:15and Best Actor for Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper.
01:17Sam Rockwell also picked up a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as George W. Bush in Vice.
01:24Meanwhile, Adam McKay was nominated for Best Original Screenplay,
01:27and Shallow from A Star Is Born is up for Best Original Song.

01:40In the Best Actress category, Yalitza Aparicio for Roma, Glenn Close for The Wife,
01:46Olivia Colman for The Favourite, Lady Gaga for A Star Is Born,
01:50and Melissa McCarthy for Can You Ever Forgive Me will compete for the coveted trophy on February 24th,
01:55while the actors who were recognized in their category were Christian Bale for Vice,
02:00Bradley Cooper for A Star Is Born,
02:02Willem Dafoe for At Eternity's Gate,
02:05Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody,
02:07and Viggo Mortensen for Green Book.

02:13Additionally, in proving that 2018 was truly a year of stellar documentary making,
02:17the docs that could walk away with the trophy are Free Solo,

02:38And up for perhaps the most prestigious award of the night,
02:41Best Picture, will be Black Klansman, Black Panther,
02:44Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book,
02:47A Star Is Born, Vice,
02:49and awards frontrunners The Favourite and Roma.
02:52The nominations were announced this morning by Tracey Ellis Ross and Kamal Nanjiani,
02:56and the award show itself will take place at LA's Dolby Theatre on February 24th at 8 p.m. Eastern.
