Transcript
00:00Television has never been bigger. Television has never mattered more.
00:05The 71st Emmy Awards went hostless on Sunday night. Well, sort of.
00:09The show kicked off with a special appearance by Bryan Cranston that paid tribute to the night's top nominees.
00:14First, the awards ceremony introduced Homer Simpson as the evening's host at the top of the show,
00:19but after he was hit by a falling piano, Black-ish star Anthony Anderson jumped on stage
00:23to save the day and get the show back on track.
00:25Tarazi, we will not let this empire fall!
00:28As Anderson searched for the perfect person to host the show,
00:31his backstage hijinks included his mom stealing Emmys and this subtle jab at Game of Thrones.
00:36All right, no Starbucks cups on television! No more!
00:39Suddenly, Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston was thrust on stage and started talking about
00:43watching Neil Armstrong walking on the moon on TV 50 years ago.
00:47I could be anyone. I could go anywhere. Even Albuquerque.
00:54The actor went on to say that 50 years later, TV still transports us to faraway places
00:58like Winterfell and the Upside Down. He then highlighted this year's nominees and showed off their biggest moments.
