Netflix broke the record for most nominations in a single year, scoring 160 in total, while the most-nominated series was HBO's 'Watchmen,' with 26 in all.

00:00The 2020 Emmy nominations were announced virtually on Tuesday morning by Leslie Jones, Josh Gad,

00:05Tatiana Maslany, and Laverne Cox, and there were some major surprises. Watchmen, which is competing

00:11in the limited series category, had the most nominations out of all programs with 26 noms.

00:17It was followed by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 20 noms and Ozarkin Succession, which each

00:21received 18 noms. And in the battle for supremacy between HBO and Netflix, the streaming giant came

00:27out on top. For the second time ever, Netflix was the most nominated platform, easily besting HBO with

00:32160 total nominations, versus 107 for the premium cable network. In the performance category,

00:39several shows received multiple nominations for their lead actors. In terms of comedies,

00:43Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross both received noms for Best Actor and Actress

00:49in a Comedy Series, respectively. Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini were also both

00:53nominated for Best Actress for Dead to Me, as well as Catherine O'Hara for Schitt's Creek,

00:57which also saw Eugene Levy receive a nomination for Best Actor. The other nominees in that category

01:02are Don Cheadle for Black Monday, Ted Danson for The Good Place, Michael Douglas for The Kaminsky

01:06Method, and Rami Youssef for Rami. For Best Actress in a Comedy Series, Rachel Brosnahan of The Marvelous

01:12Mrs. Maisel and Issa Rae of Insecure also received nominations. On the drama side, Brian Cox and Jeremy

01:18Strong were both nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series for Succession. Ozark stars Jason

01:22Bateman and Laura Linney both received noms for Best Actor and Actress in a Drama Series,

01:26respectively, as did Steve Carell and Jennifer Aniston for The Morning Show. Plus, Jodie Comer

01:31and Sandra Oh were both nominated for Best Actress for Killing Eve. The other nominees in that category

01:36are Olivia Colman for The Crown and Zendaya for Euphoria. And for Best Actor in a Drama Series,

01:41Sterling K. Brown of This Is Us and Billy Porter of Pose also received nominations. And for Limited Series,

01:46Jeremy Irons and Regina King were both nominated for Best Actor and Actress in a Limited Series,

01:51respectively, for Watchmen. In the Best Limited Series category, Little Fires Everywhere,

01:55Mrs. America, Unbelievable, Unorthodox, and Watchmen all received nominations.

02:01And in the top two categories, the nominees for Best Comedy Series are Curb Your Enthusiasm,

02:06Dead to Me, The Good Place, Insecure, The Kaminsky Method, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,

02:12Schitt's Creek, and What We Do in the Shadows. Finally, for Best Drama Series, Better Call Saul,

02:16The Crown, The Handmaid's Tale, Killing Eve, The Mandalorian, Ozark, Stranger Things,
