01:13They come out the same, and here's the big test that it will be all night long.

01:18Lopes gets through there great.

01:19Anstey gets through there even better.

01:21And Cody Schock and Shane McElrath do as well.

01:24McElrath squares up the next berm as they come over the finish line jump.

01:30Here comes Anstey pushing on Lopes already.

01:34Yes, new leader here on the Gold Coast.

01:36And he didn't even wait.

01:38He didn't let for the race to settle down, let Enzo Lopes build a little confidence.

01:41He says, no, I need it right now.

01:43I'm going to take it.

01:44That was aggressive.

01:45Great move by the points leader.

01:46Every race that we've had this year at an SX2 category event, Max Anstey has won every single one of them.

01:55Eight laps, 12 laps, main events, premium races, doesn't matter.

02:06And this is a big moment for Enzo Lopes, too.

02:14And now you've got Lopes looking up behind him on his teammate, Cody Schock.

02:17That's not a good sign.

02:18And if you're Max Anstey, that little gap that you've got allows you to take the lines that you want.

02:23Look at McElrath.

02:23Here comes McElrath, trying to make a move.

02:26Cody Schock takes advantage of it on the 69.

02:31And he will be back in front of McElrath.

02:33And these are your top four in points, so seeing him up front is not surprising.

02:38But the order's a little bit different than we've seen this year.

02:40Shane McElrath has had a tough go as your defending champ.

02:43He had body issues at round one, bike issues at round two, but he looks better tonight.

02:47Keep an eye on the 43 back behind them, the red bike.

02:51That's Cullen Park, who just missed out on Super Bowl by, what, a hundredth of a second, something like that.

02:57And here he is in fifth and closing.

03:00And the guy that he's been battling with all season long, Cole Thompson, is two spots back behind him.

03:06Maxime Desprez between the two.

03:08Here's McElrath looking inside.

03:10His shot takes the spot away.

03:12And McElrath moves up into the top three.

03:14And I think we're seeing the passing spots on this track.

03:17It's after the whoops, after the finish, and in the first corner.

03:20Those are the 180s.

03:21Oh, look at Schock coming back up the inside.

03:23Cody Schock up the inside.

03:27McElrath trying to find a way to defend it.

03:30He gets a pretty good drive off the corner.

03:31Hugs to the inside.

03:33Great side-by-side battle, but Schock is a little quicker off the corner and into the wall jump.

03:38That was great defense by Cody Schock.

03:40Jay McElrath wanted to get him back with that right-handed 180.

03:43Schock gave him nowhere to go.

03:44But now, look, Colin Parks joined the party.

03:47Yeah, as we said, all that fighting between McElrath and Schock has allowed Park to close right in.

04:01McElrath right along the top blocks as he blitzes through the woods.

04:05He was very quick through there.

04:06Yeah, and last lap he was closer, so he had the chance to make the pass.

04:09This lap, he was a little further behind, but you saw Enzo Lopes having a little issue there, too,

04:14where Anstey is really starting to check on these guys in that section en route.

04:18We talk about the Starks' new speed, but Anstey's been great in the whoops, too.

04:21We're seeing it now early in sprint race one.

04:23Shane McElrath, the reigning SX2 champion.

04:30Oh, McElrath way loose, and Park gets by.

04:36Park clips the top blocks, and that'll give McElrath a chance to come back,

04:40but he can't get it done through that rhythm lane, and Colin Park moves himself up to fourth,

04:45and the reigning champ slips back another spot in frustration.

04:50And that's how quick things can change.

04:51Remember, two laps ago, he's playing offense.

04:53He's looking for a way around shock.

04:55One mistake turns to two, and the next thing you know, you're on defense,

04:58and then the big mistake lets Colin Park by.

05:01And now for Colin, you've got a free run at Cody Shock.

05:03What can you do with a little open track?

05:05Well, and it also continues the problems for Shane McElrath,

05:08who had physical issues at the opener, Argentina, mechanical issues in Vancouver,

05:15and today, I don't know, what would you call it, Daniel, just riding issues?

05:19Yeah, little mistake.

05:20I mean, one turns to two, and that happens as a racer.

05:22When you make a bobble, it's hard to recover, get back on pace,

05:26and then when you make the second one, you start second-guessing.

05:29That leads to a third mistake, and it's really hard to recover.

05:32The rider who's making no mistakes is Max Antian.

05:35This is why that pass on lap one was so important.

05:37He's been able to ride somewhat free since then,

05:41and if he would have settled into Lopes' pace,

05:42this could be a completely different race,

05:44but he did what he needed to do early.

05:46Max Antian was crowned champion of the SX2 category in 2023.

05:51He is well on his way to his 16th race win in SX2 competition in his career.

06:00McElrath sitting here in fifth.

06:03This one winding down quickly, scheduled for eight laps,

06:0610 points up for grabs, and even though Max had issues in qualifying and Super Bowl,

06:12he's looking to be perfect still in race competition.

06:15And I got to point out, the track looks good compared to what we saw in qualifying.

06:20They got some moisture in.

06:21They worked it in.

06:22But it's still slick, and it might even be a tougher type of slick

06:25because that little bit of water they put on,

06:27it might take a race before it really works itself in.

06:30So you see these mistakes.

06:31These are coming from maybe a little bit of a false impression on what that dirt looks like

06:35and what it really feels like.

06:37Here's one of the spots, Antian is so good as he rips across the top of the woods.

06:42Yeah, it's the entry speed.

06:43I mean, when you come in that committed, that trusting, that fast,

06:46you can just carry your way out.

06:47We saw Lopes make a little mistake here and there,

06:49and that's all from the entry speed.

06:51And Max, that confidence, we've seen it from A to Z.

06:54Everything he's doing this year is just on another level.

06:56And the best battle on the racetrack is coming up right here.

07:04of Cody Shock and closing in on it fast as the Model Concepts Racing

07:09entry to the number 43 of Cullen Park

07:11as we are on the final lap here in the opening race of the day

07:14at the Australian GP.

07:17We've been talking all week.

07:19Cullen Park's riding has not matched the results,

07:22but it's been from issues outside of his control.

07:24A big second place finish in the first race of the year,

07:27and then issue after issue after issue.

07:29So this is a big bounce back and a rebound for Cullen Park.
