00:17Salt Lake City, Championship Day, 250 East, olha o Hampshire!
00:22Ele flui out of the gate and right on the inside!
00:25Ele está puxando um pouco mais, é Fial, que roquets through!
00:29Man, Seth Hemmaker leaps away!
00:57e a tone for later on here this evening when the main events come around
01:01and that gate pick for the main.
01:03O que a start!
01:05O que a start!
01:06On championship night for Seth Hemmaker, you are seeing belief and positive mindset
01:12solidified out in front of all that Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki,
01:17the guy who broke the four-year drought between winds, resurrected his career,
01:22and boy, that self-belief is sky-high!
01:24Yeah, absolutely, but these guys got to be careful because the track's a lot different than it was.
01:29As you can see, Seth sliding out, they brought some of the loose stuff back on the racetrack,
01:33so it's going to get drier as it goes.
01:35But right now, you can see Tom Bial starting to lose the ground, these guys got to be careful.
01:39All right, let's hear from the man himself, the race leader, Seth Hemmaker,
01:42on his thoughts on this title chase.
01:45I feel like, you know, these guys have been in some, you know, championship battles
01:48and each of them have, you know, the record to show for that.
01:51But, you know, for me being my first time, I'm just going to go out there and,
01:55you know, try to win the race, really, and just not try and overthink anything.
02:00Because, you know, if I thought I'd be in this position at the beginning of the season,
02:05I don't know if I would have thought I would be.
02:07So, it's just cool to be in this position, to work hard for it, and maybe not as much pressure,
02:14but I put a lot of pressure on myself to get this done.
02:16And, you know, one race to do it, we came this far, so I'm going to give it everything I have.
02:22Guys, you can just hear the calmness there in Seth's voice.
02:27Ricky, you were talking about it.
02:28He's just got the right attitude for this.
02:30Does he have that championship experience?
02:32No, he doesn't, but it doesn't seem to bother him.
02:35And talking to family and team members, they said that's just who he is,
02:39it's how he operates, and it's going to help him out in this situation, JT.
02:42Yeah, well, I agree with you so much, and it's funny because most of these riders,
02:46you can just see the pressure on their faces, and that has not been the case with Seth.
02:51And I think that all of the season is just a bonus.
02:53I don't think he truly expected to be in a title fight this quick in this season,
02:57so it's all upside from here.
02:59And if he can be opportunistic, he can use the lack of pressure to ride carefree here in Salt Lake.
03:04All the improvements that he's made throughout the year, he hasn't made the same mistakes twice,
03:10and he's realized when to pull back and when to go for it, where in years past,
03:14that really wasn't the case.
03:16And I go back to Birmingham midway through that season when he fell down.
03:19It was a triple crown race, and he comes back out and he dominates the last two,
03:24and that is just a sign of the improvements that he's made.
03:27Now, he has a speed advantage, and that's what you need.
03:30But what I talked about at the top of the show, there's just something to be said for the two guys
03:35that are behind him right now in this race.
03:37They have championship experience, and that's what's going to be fun to watch Seth Hamaker
03:41and see how he reacts to championship pressure, and he's doing a great job so far.
03:45His team boss, Mitch Payton, is one of the icons of the sport, and James, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki,
03:51is one of the most famous teams in the history of the sport.
03:54But it's been eight years since they last won a championship.
03:57This could be a landmark day for Mitch Payton and this organization.
04:00Yeah, absolutely.
04:01I mean, it's a big day for Seth, but like you said, Mitch Payton as well.
04:04And I think for all those guys, you know, just the ups and downs, you know,
04:08being so close last year with Levi.
04:10Oh, Seth got a little buck wild on those whoops right there.
04:13Being so close to the championship with Levi, you know, I think it'd be a huge day for them.
04:17And the fact that they were able to stick with Seth, you know,
04:20it just shows a lot of belief that Mitch has into him and so far is paying off.
04:24But they got two guys behind him.
04:26He loses the front end.
04:27That's what I was saying about being really careful in this corner.
04:30The two guys behind him, they're keeping him honest, and all you can hope is a chance.
04:34James, you talked about earlier in this race how these riders are going to have to be really careful
04:38because the track was a little different than what it was in qualifying practice.
04:43But it's starting to take a set there a little loose.
04:45But it is amazing how they are not making hardly any mistakes.
04:49Some little ones, subtle ones here, but for as well as they're riding, as fast as they're riding.
04:55This track is starting to take a really good set now,
04:57and you're going to see some good laps come from these guys.
04:59Yeah, and we talked about earlier, all those is the heat race,
05:02and the championship comes out later on this evening.
05:05This is a big mental booth for all these guys.
05:07And honestly, I think with those guys just sticking with Seth,
05:10the speed advantage that Seth had over them earlier is going to help them out moving forward
05:14to tonight when all the best of the best, the 250 routers end up together.
05:19Ricky, we spoke to Nate Ramsey, team manager at Rockstar Energy Factory Husqvarna earlier today,
05:24and he just said he's been very impressed with RJ's resilience this year.
05:28Also, just a sense of calm as well, and that comes with having a championship under your belt, yeah?
05:34Right, because he's been, well, he's had that wrist injury kind of nagging him all season long,
05:39and I asked Nate, I'm like, do you think it's helped him in certain areas,
05:43like kind of calms him, and he can't push it where normally he would,
05:46and maybe come at a risk of falling?
05:48He says, yeah, it's kind of twofold.
05:50It helps him in certain areas like that, but then also when we need RJ to push,
05:55like RJ knows how to, he hasn't been able to. JT.
05:58Well, I'm just watching Tom Vial here, Ricky, and you think about a year ago.
06:02He was the champ, but he did not have a good night here in Salt Lake City,
06:06and what I wanted to see is him come out and just be able to push.
06:09Now, he's losing a little time to the leaders, but he looks like himself.
06:12He's looking like he's able to find his best form, and in the main event,
06:16if he can use that, get a good start to ride, he's going to have a chance.
06:20Step one, have a solid afternoon and bring your best stuff,
06:23and I think if you're just grading on that, it's a check mark so far.
06:28Oh, I saw some yellow flags.
06:31Oh, it's RJ Hampshire down from second place.
06:35Oh, he's got to get going.
06:37He's stuck on the top block.
06:39Yeah, and that's in that rhythm section.
06:40We saw a couple guys go down earlier.
06:42It's a tricky rhythm section.
06:43Oh, no, he's caught up with wires in the back of his tire right there.
06:48We have wires in between some of these.
06:50Oh, they're still stuck in there.
06:52Oh, man, between these sections for speakers and live timing and scoring.
06:58Section times.
07:00Oh.
07:01Let's have a look at what happened.
07:03So this rhythm lane has been super challenging all day long.
07:08And, oh, wow, his helmet got caught on his handlebar.
07:17That could have been way worse, but that was pretty bad.
07:20Jeez, and look at it, Lee.
07:22He's in 10th right now.
07:24How far?
07:25Yeah, Max Boland is a long way up the track.
07:28He's not going to be within striking distance.
07:30Meanwhile, it has been clean all by one little bobble where the front end tucked a little bit.
07:35Seth Hamaker on championship evening.
07:39He gets it off to the best possible start with a win.
07:42And that's checkbox one for that championship quest for Seth Hamaker.
07:48Incredible ride.
07:51Oh, what a bummer for RJ.
07:53There's Max Boland, Jack Chambers.
07:56Chambers is going to get that ninth spot over RJ Hampshire.
08:00So they go straight through to the main, to the east-west showdown.
08:04And RJ Hampshire, here he is, is going to be forced to do an extra race before the main.
08:12There's the winner.
08:13Here's one of the three title hopefuls.
