00:00Just tough mental guys, it's just part of his development and he's finding that right now.
00:05Hey, I always do pretty good late at night, so you know, some people are night owls, right?
00:09That's right.
00:10Maybe that's the deal.
00:13Alright, we're 20 seconds away from the final SX2 race of the night.
00:19Can Max Anstey stay perfect in every race so far in 2025 in SX2 racing?
00:27Let's find out and drop the gate!
00:30I need to go to the first stage.
00:33I know that I'm going to start for Max Anstey.
00:35Anstey not first to the corner, but he's on the inside.
00:38He's going to come out in about third.
00:40He's got McElrath in front of him and Hicks in front of him.
00:43I know that I'm going to start for him.
00:48And Kyle Peters with a great start right up the inside on Max Anstey.
00:56McElrath out front.
00:58Hicks running in second.
00:59Anstey looks like he's holding down third.
01:09Peters with a great start on that Venom Bud racing entry.
01:14That's his best start of the night, too.
01:16McElrath, way to bounce back.
01:18He's had a rough one.
01:19Anstey just gets him right there with Hicks on the inside.
01:23He got through those whoops so good, Daniel.
01:24Yeah, that was a great run.
01:26That's pretty much what he's done all season long.
01:29But now, let's go champion on champion.
01:31Alright, Anstey's won this thing.
01:33McElrath is your defending champion.
01:36This is a battle that we expected coming into the championship.
01:39And if you're ashamed right now, maybe a little frustration is going to give you that fire to get one on Max Anstey while Cody Schock tries to find his way in the third.
01:46This could be exactly what McElrath needs to end the win streak for Max Anstey.
01:53And this might be the race where Anstey has to make that decision.
01:56Because this is going to take a lap or two to get going.
01:59And maybe he just gets him really quickly because that's what he's been able to do.
02:03But maybe he starts second-guessing.
02:04Because this track has been tough.
02:05We've seen a lot of crashes tonight.
02:07Well, the best thing Max can do is get up there and put some heat on the backside of McElrath.
02:13Shane has made some mistakes tonight.
02:15He's one that doesn't normally succumb to pressure.
02:18But that's probably the best thing Max can do right now.
02:21And here's Cody Schock, the late arrival on the night as we predicted.
02:25Making the move on Hicks.
02:27This will be for third.
02:28Schock trying to get to the inside.
02:30Not there yet.
02:31Schock on that 69.
02:33And hey, look who's back.
02:3443, Colin Park.
02:36Just in front of Kyle Peters.
02:38And Peter's teammate, the Canadian Cole Thompson.
02:41Yeah, Schock needs to make this move very, very fast.
02:44And he's faster.
02:45So he has the speed.
02:46But Colin Park also has the speed.
02:49So for Cody Schock, find it.
02:51Be aggressive.
02:52Do something.
02:53Because Colin Park has been great tonight.
02:54And he's right there in the shadows.
02:56Well, Hicks is a champion.
02:57Not at Supercross, but at Arena Cross.
02:59So he knows what it takes to be a big winner.
03:01Yeah, and Arena Cross racers have craft.
03:03Because you have to have it to be successful there.
03:05So this might be a battle of craft versus power.
03:08Oh, boy.
03:09He gets a little out of shape through that whoops section.
03:12And Schock right there.
03:13That's the move he was waiting on.
03:15Very aggressive.
03:16Cut under.
03:17Hicks is going to go up the inside.
03:19But Schock very smart there.
03:20Shock has the momentum around the outside.
03:23And now Colin Park starts to size up the 460.
03:27So we're a couple laps in.
03:29And Max Anstey is not winning.
03:32He's still sitting back about a second.
03:341.3 on Shane McElrath.
03:36As Colin Park now tries to be the one making moves on Hicks.
03:39So two battles going on on this track.
03:45It's Park to the outside of Hicks.
03:50He's around.
03:51Big mistake by Hicks there.
03:52Doesn't get that three in the rhythm section.
03:54Colin Park moves a little to his left.
03:56Good work.
03:57Good instincts.
03:58And now the battle is on for that podium.
04:00Those two are coming in very close at points.
04:02Peters trying to think if he can get his Cowie around that 460.
04:09Hicks on the start.
04:10The electric motorcycle.
04:13And making his debut in World Supercross competition in 2025.
04:17You can see at the top of the screen Anstey's closing a little.
04:20He went from 1.3 to 1.1.
04:22Now it's back to 1.2.
04:23So still sitting in that same spot.
04:24And he's getting those times from his mechanic as they go past the mechanics area.
04:29He can sense that he's closing but he's getting confirmation on it.
04:32And encouragement to keep digging.
04:34Big quad.
04:35He's there now.
04:36He's there now.
04:37The fight is on for the lead and the win here.
04:41And what could be the overall as well for Max Anstey.
04:46And another clean sweep.
04:47He did that big quad out of the rhythm section too.
04:49Which is what cost him in the super pole.
04:50So he's not afraid to go back to lines that gave him issues.
04:54But good job Shane McElroy hanging in there.
04:56He's improved in the whoops in this main event.
04:59Shane is not going to be easy to get around that's for sure.
05:02The rider out of North Carolina has a number one plate for a reason.
05:06He's a two time FIM World Supercross champion.
05:11Anstey looking for his second world championship.
05:18Going back to what you said about taking risks.
05:22Instead of just being aggressive and forcing it.
05:24He's going to have to be a little bit more calculated with a champion like Shane McElroy.
05:28So I see a rider who is taking his time because he's going to have to make a smart move.
05:33Maybe not an aggressive move.
05:35That seems to be the play here for Anstey.
05:37You see the live GP standings.
05:39Anstey has got a couple of points up on McElrath.
05:42Cody shocks his form back behind that.
05:46Cullen Park in fourth.
05:48Oh Anstey to the outside.
05:50Cutting back inside.
05:52Can't get him just yet but McElrath senses him right up alongside.
05:56Yeah Anstey's being very patient, very smart.
06:01Not forcing the issue.
06:03Right on him.
06:05Separating these two right now in those live standings.
06:08Anstey trying to shake that up a little bit if he can get around for the lead here.
06:12Tries to cut back in.
06:14Can't get it squared up enough.
06:16He'll follow him over the wall Joe for now.
06:18You know this is fun to watch too because Max has spent so much time alone this year.
06:22But now to be in a position where he has to play this game,
06:25it's a test of his craft which we haven't seen much of because he doesn't have to ever use it.
06:30So I really like watching him work the track, move around.
06:34Get to see that other side of Max Anstey.
06:38In order for McElrath to win the overall here tonight, Anstey's going to have to fall all the way back to fourth.
06:43Which the way he's riding right now means he'd have to crash.
06:46Anstey to the outside.
06:48Lots of speed.
06:49New leader.
06:50So smart.
06:52So smart.
06:53Instead of cutting under, he knew he had just the space.
06:56He also knows that Shane is not a super aggressive rider.
06:59He's not going to put him over the berm.
07:01And you saw him just kind of sit back and then shoot around that berm.
07:04I mean that's just some smart race craft by a guy who's got his game together.
07:09Well as you said, we've seen his speed all season long.
07:13Tonight we're seeing the race craft.
07:15And there's a reason why Max Anstey's a world champion.
07:18That's it.
07:19And he's on his way maybe to his second world championship.
07:22That's fun to watch.
07:25You know, I mean, we get these chaotic battles where we're just like, can't believe our eyes.
07:30But it's fun sometimes to see a one-on-one with two respectable, smart, calculated riders play the game.
07:37And that was a lot of fun to see that both execute.
07:39Shane was playing great defense too.
07:41But sometimes one guy's just got a little bit more than the other.
07:44We saw that there.
07:45Yeah, Shane didn't really do anything wrong.
07:47No.
07:48Yes, he just found the opportunity.
07:52But we've still got a handful of laps to go here.
07:55And anything is possible.
07:57Yeah, and if you're Shane McElrath, look, this is a massive bounce back to the front.
08:01But a win would feel so much better.
08:04And he's got less to lose for sure.
08:06So Shane's not going to give in on this.
08:08If you keep him close, if something presents itself, he'll go for it.
08:11But he's starting to lose a tenth at a time.
08:15Now you can see the speed out of Anski as he's out front, clean of McElrath, putting in quick laps and opening up that gap to 1.6 seconds in what? A lap and a half?
08:27Yeah, and this is starting to look like he did late in that second race where he just went into calculation mode.
08:33He just went into, you know, perfect fundamentals, just execute.
08:36But this battle is still on.
08:38Good recovery by Hicks also to stay with these boys.
08:40But the Park shock battle, that's been on tonight.
08:43Max Anstey has already claimed 135 championship points here in 2025.
08:51Stunning season for sure.
08:53Englishman just putting on a heck of a show.
08:57And Park, Colin Park on the Moto Concepts Racing Honda sits in third, number 43.
09:03His best ride of the year for sure.
09:06It's a great opportunity for him to stack those points, too, with Enzo Lopes who's in front of him in championship points.
09:14I mean, he's back at 15th right now, so two bad races in a row gives Park a chance.
09:19Oh, a shock with a big quad right there.
09:20But it gives Park a chance to now move up in those standings.
09:24Shane McElrath is still in there.
09:25So this battle for second with Shock McElrath Park.
09:29That's going to be a fight all the way to the end of this championship.
09:32And Lopes, really, really tough night that started so well.
09:36Oh, Park really struggling to the whoops that time.
09:43Getting close to the final lap here.
09:46Cody Shock.
09:51On that number 69, 28 years of age.
09:55Out of Delaware.
09:59And Colin Park just in front of him.
10:03This track has produced some great racing.
10:06This soil being dry and slick, it really challenges the riders to find the balance.
10:11They're rather wired to be aggressive.
10:14They practice aggressive.
10:16They train aggressive.
10:17They think aggressive.
10:18And then you have a track that you have to give some respect.
10:21It makes things go wild.
10:22That's what's happened tonight.
10:24Yep.
10:25No doubt about it.
10:26And Steve on his way looking for his career 18th race victory in FIM World Supercross competition.
10:41He can hang on here on this final lap.
10:44It will be his fifth overall win in FIM World Supercross career victories.
10:55Just perfect.
10:56Well, guess what, Max?
10:57You're going to have to hear us talk about it a little bit longer.
10:59Yep.
11:00Max Anstey on his way to being perfect on another night here.
11:03This time at the 2025 Australian GP on the Gold Coast.
11:10And he showed us another trick up the sleeve.
11:13And that's his race crap tonight, which has been every bit as good as his race speed.
11:18As he comes around the final corner.
11:20Max Anstey perfect again as he lights the candles here at the Australian GP.
11:26Mekilrath will be second.
11:30Here's Park.
11:31Quick look over the shoulder.
11:32Shock nowhere near.
11:34Park will get third in this one.
11:36Shock will cross the line in fourth.
11:39And we await the arrival of Michael Hicks over the finish line jump.
11:43There it is.
11:45No, Kyle Peters gets him.
11:48Hicks is dropping.
11:49He must have gone down somewhere.
11:51Yes, he...
