Joe Rogan revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19, and says he took Ivermectin, a commonly used horse dewormer that the CDC says is an unproven COVID-19 treatment.

00:00I got up in the morning, got tested, and it turns out I got COVID.

00:05Joe Rogan revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 and says he took ivermectin,

00:11a commonly used horse dewormer that the CDC says is an unproven COVID-19 treatment.

00:16On Wednesday, Rogan told his more than 13 million Instagram audience he had COVID-19

00:21after feeling a little run down.

00:23So I got back from the road Saturday night, feeling very weary.

00:27I had a headache, and I just felt just run down.

00:32After the positive diagnosis, Rogan said he attempted to treat the virus with all kinds of meds,

00:36including the unproven drug.

00:38We immediately threw the kitchen sink at it, all kinds of meds, monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, Z-Pak.

00:46While a version of ivermectin is approved to treat certain conditions in humans at very specific doses,

00:51the drug is not approved to treat COVID-19.

00:53The FDA provided information on why the drug can be dangerous and even lethal.

00:58And the federal agency also stressed the dangers in an August 21st tweet, writing,

01:02You are not a horse, you are not a cow. Seriously, y'all, stop it.

01:06The Spotify podcast host has made headlines during the pandemic for sowing doubt about vaccines.

01:11In April, Rogan walked back comments he made on the show that he said young, healthy people could skip the jab.

01:16Ivermectin has been promoted by some as an alternative to getting a COVID-19 vaccine.

01:21However, the New York Times reported on August 30th that ivermectin has repeatedly failed in clinical trials

01:27to help people infected with the coronavirus.

01:29Rogan did not mention if he had been vaccinated, but did say in the Instagram post,
