00:00How does it feel to be here tonight at the Oscars with Top Gun?
00:04Pretty trippy.
00:05I mean, yeah, I grew up watching the Oscars.
00:08My parents, I guess they kind of stopped.
00:10I just got a text from my dad being like,
00:12I just bought an antenna in order to watch the Oscars tonight.
00:16So they're watching.
00:17Hopefully they're out there if they're watching.
00:19Hey, Mom, Pop.
00:20Yeah, it's pretty damn exciting.
00:22Did you get to bring anybody with you tonight?
00:24I did not.
00:25No, I just came with my Top Gun crew.
00:27Yeah, we're like family, so it's good to have their support
00:29and have their wind in our sails.
00:31How has it been to reunite with them here at the Oscars of all places?
00:35It's the final last hurrah.
00:37I think it's been such a long run, but we have so much fun
00:40because everyone's pretty busy all around the world doing stuff.
00:43So whenever we get to be congregated in one space, it's the best time.
00:47But to be doing it here is like a weird fugue dream or something.
00:51This film has been so praised by the film community
00:54for bringing people back to theaters.
00:56What has it been like to receive that kind of recognition
00:58and praise for the movie?
01:00I mean, I'd like to take some claim for it,
01:02but I feel like I was just swept up in a lucky gust of wind, you know?
01:07I think Tom Cruise and Joseph Kaczynski and Jerry Bruckheimer,
01:10they really hit a bullet with a bullet with this one.
01:13And so it's fun.
01:15Thank you, Tom.
01:16There's my support team.
01:17There we go.
01:18And yeah, so I think it's been cool to just see everyone, you know,
01:24feel like they reinvigorated a lot of people's love for the theater.
01:29And so there's nothing.
01:30I mean, that's why you want to be an actor, right?
01:32It's to make people feel like they get immersed in a story
01:35and they get to forget about whatever they're dealing with in their day-to-day lives.
01:39I feel like the Top Gun crew is probably going to be the best crew to party with tonight after the show.
01:44Do you have any after-party plans?
01:46Absolutely.
01:47Going to the Paramount after-party, the Apple after-party, the Vanity Fair after-party,
01:51if I can make it to all of them.
01:53That's what's on the docket.
01:54But yeah, hopefully we'll just like chase each other around like a line of ducklings
01:58and see where the night takes us.
02:00That's a stacked lineup.
02:02And this is a notoriously long show.
02:04Did you bring any snacks to get through it?
02:07What's your plan?
02:08Here's my plan.
02:09My cousin, Adam Shapiro, has a pretzel company called Shappy Pretzels.
02:14And Jimmy Kimmel, who's hosting, asked him to place a Shappy Pretzel under everyone's seat.
02:20So I'm going to be snacking on a Shappy Pretzel.
02:23And I think Brad Pitt will be as well.
02:25So that's pretty crazy.
02:26That's like the best family collab ever, I feel like.
02:28And you get to be here tonight, you know, when that happens.
02:30I know, it's incredible.
02:31I'm so glad that we're both here for our first Oscars together.
02:34I'm excited to hear what you think of it.
02:36He has an Oreo flavored pretzel.
02:38I'll have to let you know after eating the pretzels.
02:41Thank you so much.
02:42Have a great night tonight.
02:44You too.
02:45Appreciate it.
