00:00You always look so good, tell me about your look tonight, what inspired it, how'd you
00:05land on this?
00:06Well this is Christian Siriano and we're making history tonight for the first time because
00:09obviously he's an amazing designer who designs for females, every body type, but for the
00:14first time designing for a plus size male.
00:16So I'm really excited and proud to be at the Academy Awards because I wanted to do a classic
00:20tuxedo top and a little throwback to the original period of the Oscars, so a little finger wave
00:26and then the bottom to be a little bit more flared out.
00:28So I wanted to be like masculine, feminine, all into it, mixed, but always fun.
00:31I love it.
00:32It's so fun.
00:33For you, what does it mean to be here with this movie?
00:35I mean, I never thought it would be part of a project that would be nominated for an Academy
00:39Award that would be animated, you know, and I was just like, wow, and animation is such
00:43a great forum for us to be entertained.
00:46It's not just for children.
00:47It's actually really beautiful, you know, and I think that, you know, Guillermo said it earlier
00:52where he said that the animation is for everyone, you know, and it's just like beautifully said
00:56and I really think that it is and we should take more acknowledgement to the artists behind
01:00those voices because they are telling stories and they are moving us.
01:03I had so many people who came up to me and said, you know, I saw the movie and I left
01:06that theater and I hugged my husband tighter.
01:08I kissed my kids goodnight a little bit harder and it made me appreciate the life we're living
01:12right now.
01:13It's great.
01:14This movie has been so beloved by fans.
01:16What has the fan response meant to you?
01:17I've been getting so many messages from around the world.
01:19So we just like had, you know, Mexico, I also dubbed it in Spanish.
01:22So I had like messages, people who DM me and people who said, you get me, I get, you know,
01:28how this reflects people have anxiety and people who deal with, you know, just how to deal with
01:33a bad scenario.
01:34And like usually animals help us with trauma.
01:36And, uh, I think that this movie really kind of, kind of guided us through those, like navigate
01:41through those waters of like how to deal with like things that are hard to talk about, you
01:44know, and El Mgade Perrito who wants to be a therapy dog and himself has a tragic past
01:48and chooses to look at the glass half full instead of half empty is such a thing we could
01:52all aspire to.
01:53Definitely.
01:54And since we are here at the Oscars, is there anybody you're excited to maybe run into tonight?
01:58Someone you'd love to see on this carpet?
02:00I mean, all the nominees are so fantastic.
02:03I'm so excited to see all of them.
02:05Um, I think I've seen a couple of them already, but I can't get over it.
02:08So like, you know, just like Jamie Lee Curtis and then just like, you know, the whole cast
02:12of like everything, all at once.
02:14Um, it's just, yeah, I think a lot of the people and also to see Guillermo again, to see
02:19all the people that just have admired for so many years growing up and watching the Academy
02:22Awards and to be on the same carpet with them is insane.
02:24So I'm just happy to be here.
02:27We're happy that you're here.
02:28Have a great night tonight.
02:29Thank you so much.
02:31That's so nice.
