The cast of HBO Max's 'The Sex Lives Of College Girls' season 2, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Reneé Rapp, Pauline Chalamet, and Amrit Kaur talk about the upcoming season and play The Do's and Don'ts of College!
Transcript
00:00Umbre did have a premonition like during season one. She was like,
00:04I think we'll have a season two. I think we'll have a season two.
00:06You did say that, Ami.
00:09So why are we even having a discussion about this?
00:11Yeah, that was the way Umbre was.
00:15The girls of Essex are back for season two of the sex lives of college girls,
00:19dishing on juicy plot lines in the upcoming season and sharing their college survival guide.
00:25Coming off at the heels of a hit season one,
00:27the stars of HBO Max's raunchy comedy all spilled where their characters stand for season two,
00:33especially after a major cliffhanger leaves one of the core four's time at Essex up in the air.
00:38Kimberly, for most of season two and definitely in the beginning when we come back,
00:43the driving force and her motivation are really related to getting the money to be able to stay
00:50at school. It's really the idea of how does an 18-year-old girl come up with so much money
00:57to be able to stay at a school. The new season will also have no shortage of obstacles each
01:02of the girls will face as a new school year begins. I have a fun storyline a little bit about
01:08microaggressions and like Whitney's racial identity that I'm really excited to explore
01:13and for people to see because I'm really proud of it and felt like it was represented very well.
01:18And I felt like Mindy and Justin sort of like heard me on a few things and we went back and forth and
01:23like came up with a version of it that I felt good about and a version that I honestly have
01:27experienced in my own life. So it was cool. I'm excited. The stars all relative newcomers to the
01:31scene also opened up about the success of season one and knowing whether or not they had a hit on
01:36their hands. Has there been a specific moment for you guys that stands out that made you think like,
01:42okay, this show is going to be something really special. I feel like a lot, it's going to resonate with
01:46a lot of people. I knew from the pilot, I think Mindy is very smart in knowing how to talk about
01:56social issues in a digestible way. And there's a specific way to do that and she's mastered that.
02:01And so I knew, I knew from my instinct. I was like, I can't tell like, I don't know,
02:06I felt good about it. But like, maybe it's not good. You know, I've heard horror stories of actors
02:10being like, it's the best thing I've ever worked on and it like doesn't do anything. I think I felt
02:14proud of it. And like, I knew it was good when like, my family and my friends told me it was
02:19good because those are the people that trust their opinions. And I know they'll be honest with me
02:24about it. When the friends call you like, bitch, I'm eating it up. I'm like, oh, okay, we're good.
02:29Elsewhere, the cast had some fun playing a little round of the do's and don'ts of college.
02:34I'm gonna read off a question and you guys tell me if you would do it or you wouldn't do it if you
02:39were in college. Rush a sorority or fraternity? No, no. I understand people that do it. I can
02:47sympathize. I understand personally. I don't think it was for me. It's for me. Slide into your campus
02:53crushes DMs. Yes. Yes. Yes. Okay. You're like a big fan of like making the first move. Hold off.
03:01Oh my God. Not a fan, but desperate measures lead to desperate actions. Get someone to write your
03:08college paper. Oh yeah. No. No. Oh yeah. I'm for sure doing that. No guilt, Renee, for getting someone
03:18else to do it. No, no. Start an on-campus club. I feel like I would wish that I could do that. Yeah,
03:28me too. I would wish I could do that. What would you start if you were to start an on-campus club,
03:33Aaliyah? Depends on the day. Could be baking. Right now I'm really into pottery. I could start a ceramics
03:41club. Oh my God. I wish I would have had a ceramics club at school. That's so great. Pull off a double
03:45major. Yes. I was at international relations and theater, but if I could do it again, I would do
03:55something crazy. Like maybe comparative literature and math. I feel like my brain would just go crazy
04:03trying to, I mean, I barely pulled off once. I just felt like I had to make the most of it. It was
04:08so expensive. I was like, I have to double major. Get matching tattoos with your roommates. No.
04:16Matching tattoos with anybody. It's not good. Yeah. I want to get matching tattoos with like my best
04:23friend. I would totally do that, but not my roommates. Yeah. Renee has asked me to get a
04:27matching tattoo. All the time, bro. I'm like, let's do it. And she's going to do it one day.
04:31We're going to do it. I know it. Very quickly, if you guys were all to get matching tattoos,
04:35what would you all get? Pauline and Umber just wouldn't do it. Well, the question,
04:39they would get a phrase that said, um, where's crafty? Question mark. That's cute. I wouldn't get it
04:45tattooed though. I'm not compromising my morals for this game. I thought we were already an
04:52official couple. Well, did you ask him if she was saying other people? No. Are you crazy? You
04:56don't ask guys these things. You ask everyone else you know. The Sex Lives of College Girls
05:00premieres on HBO Max on November 17th. For more on this story, head to THR.com. And for the latest
