"In Melania’s defense, she lives in a permanent disaster zone, and that’s what she always wears," jokes 'The Daily Show' host.
Transcript
00:00Why is she wearing those heels when she's going to help people? Like, who cares?
00:03So we all know that First Lady Melania Trump wore stilettos as she boarded Air Force One
00:08en route to visit Houston Hurricane Harvey victims. And we all know that many on social
00:12media were pretty bent out of shape about it, even though she'd changed into a pair of sneakers
00:16by the time she'd landed. Floaters has at least one person defending her, however,
00:20someone who usually pokes a lot of fun at her husband. On Comedy Central's The Daily Show,
00:25host Trevor Noah said he didn't see why this was a topic of conversation at all.
00:28After speaking about the missile that North Korea launched over Japan yesterday as an
00:32important story that deserves continuing coverage, the host expressed disappointment
00:37that Americans focused instead on Melania's shoes. People weren't talking about the nuclear
00:43missile that Kim Jong-un tested because Melania Trump apparently did something much worse,
00:48said Noah. You see, she went to Houston wearing high heels. Noah said he doesn't know why anyone
00:54should care what anyone wears when they're on their way to help people. He joked that Pope Francis
00:58dresses in all white like he's going to a P. Diddy party and he's not judged for what he wears
01:02when he helps people. Noah concluded that while he understands people who criticize Melania for
01:07wearing something like that on her way to a disaster zone, he thinks she should get a pass,
01:11saying, in Melania's defense, she lives in a permanent disaster zone and that's what she always wears.
