00:11on CBS's The Late Show, following Melania's plagiarized speech at the Republican National

00:16Convention.

00:17My fellow Americans.

00:20Now, back on the show as herself Monday night, Benanti told the story of her first

00:26working on the impression last year while sitting next to a man on a train from Delaware

00:30to New York.

00:31And then, like, saying out loud, like, my husband, and he was like, this woman is insane.

00:38Clearly it worked, as Benanti's been on the show as Melania a few times now.

00:42So how's she feeling after a year of first lady impressions?

00:45I feel like basically now we are all Melania Trump.

00:48She continued, saying that we're all reluctantly married to Donald Trump and that she does

00:53have empathy for the first lady, but at the same time is like, well, you also chose that,

00:57which prompted Colbert to remind her that America did as well.
