00:00I like how we feel like it's daytime now.
00:02I know, doesn't it feel like it?
00:03I just got in from New York and so now I'm like, oh good, it's still daytime.
00:08Because now I have no idea what time it is.
00:09Well, welcome to Los Angeles. How are you feeling?
00:13Good, other than, yeah, just a little sleepy. Three hours sleepy.
00:16No, yeah. I can't complain. There's people here from Europe, come on.
00:19Yeah, come on and you're nominated. So, I mean, what are you going to do?
00:22Well, I sit back and do nothing, I guess, because there's nothing to do.
00:28Tell me, I mean, you've gone through this before and walked through this experience before.
00:33What did you learn that you're applying this year?
00:36How did it affect you and change your perspective about how to approach an Emmy-nominated weekend?
00:41Oh my gosh, I don't think I've learned it really.
00:47Because every year is different.
00:49Like the first year was, you know, I did my kind of go-to,
00:53which is like to not let any compliment set in and not let any,
00:57because I'd be like, oh, please stop, that's all, you know.
00:59And then I realized it was over and I was like, oh, but that's sad.
01:03And so then the next year I was like, take every compliment and absorb it.
01:06And then when I didn't win, I was like, oh, I don't want to.
01:08So, you know, I feel like by year three I was like, I'm just going to be present.
01:13Just be here. Enjoy being in the party.
01:15Yeah.
01:15And that's enough.
01:16And it is enough. It's more than enough. It's wonderful.
01:19So that's what I'm doing this year too.
01:21And it's like a big, like, date weekend with me and my husband.
01:24So that's really what I'm enjoying.
01:26That's amazing.
01:27And nice to combine those two things.
01:29Right? It's a great excuse.
01:31Let's just get sad and talk about how the show's off the air.
01:36Yeah, it's gone.
01:37But it's not. It's recorded. Anybody can watch it.
01:40Anybody can watch it.
01:41But, you know, now that you've had a little bit of distance, a couple months, you know.
01:44It's nine months since we wrapped.
01:46Your work on the show as an actress, it was thrilling to watch.
01:51There were times I had to pause it just to be like, I got to just let that soak in.
01:55Can you talk about how you changed as a performer?
01:58And perhaps what was the most valuable thing that you learned working with David Mandel or Julia Louis-Dreyfuss or Tony Hale
02:05or all these amazing performers that you got to spar with?
02:08These are such, like, these, I could write essays on each question and it still wouldn't do it justice.
02:15I mean, what have I learned as an actor?
02:17I, you know, I mean, I think how to take a note better.
02:23Honestly.
02:24And I have to say that is in large part to working with Armando Iannucci and with Dave Mandel.
02:30Like, it was, you know, once you're collaborating and you really feel welcome to be on set
02:37and you know that they see your value, you know, then it's, then you feel like, oh, good.
02:45If they're coming to say something to me, it's only going to make the whole thing better.
02:48I can't wait.
02:49That's going to be so great to try something, you know.
02:51And so that, that I think really felt, it feels a lot better than when, like, you're younger
02:56and you're just like, oh, no, they don't like it or something.
02:58You know what I mean?
02:59It's like, no, we're all just trying to make it better.
03:01So that's, that's something I really enjoyed and the last season was just so, was so collaborative
03:07and they really brought me to the table on, on Amy's arc that year.
03:11And so it was just every, every, every day on set was just really gratifying.
03:18Yeah, that's amazing.
03:19Everyone's talking about the party to say goodbye to Veep and Game of Thrones.
03:22Do you have a favorite Game of Thrones character or actor that you want to hang out with?
03:27I mean, well, I mean, to hang out with, I mean, you know, some of the, some of the folks
03:36that I remembered from the beginning whose characters were honestly killed off were wonderful
03:41to hang out with.
03:43But Aria has been a favorite character since, since she first was on screen.
03:48You were just like, that's who I wanted to be as a, as a 12 year old girl.
03:52and now and then and then she stayed and you're like yeah and she's the best moment you know in
03:57in you know that penultimate episode um so yeah and then of course yeah like come on Tyrion Peter
04:04Dinklage like like just yeah probably one of the most uh most important performances um he's just
04:12phenomenal and what and uh I don't know like we're just the journey of his character is delicious
04:18yeah Veep is there a private fun after party private party you're gonna invite me to um I've
04:25not been invited so I suppose I can't invite anybody else to something I've not been invited
04:29well I hope you guys get together and celebrate this massive Emmy winning success and even if
04:33there were no Emmys just the massive creation success of this beautiful show and your beautiful
04:38performance and part in it congratulations and have fun this weekend
