00:00Oh my god. I think in some ways, you know, I would just tell myself to to enjoy this.
00:15You said that you brought this TV show because you wanted to bring back the sense of wonder
00:22that Spielberg brought into cinema in the 80s. I think you did it, so
00:28but why in Europe, you know, we need so much that sense of wonder, especially nowadays? Yes, I don't
00:35know. I think, you know, especially nowadays, I mean, I think it was similar in the 80s, but things
00:41have obviously changed now with social media, doom scrolling, you're constantly getting hit with bad
00:47news. So I think there's something to be said about giving people something, some wonder and
00:55some escape from all this and also a little bit of hope. You know, the show obviously has darkness
01:01and monsters and bad things happen. But ultimately, it is about, you know, a group of outsiders, you know,
01:08coming together and good people coming together, communicating under, you know, working together to
01:14defeat this evil. And I think, I don't know, sometimes I think that's what we need in this world.
01:19So hopefully people get something out of the show. And hopefully that's a big part of it.
01:24Yeah. And speaking about monsters, Netflix spent big money for this new episode because the Demogorgon is
01:32amazing, looks amazing. And the Demogorgon back now really are huge and powerful metaphors.
01:40I want to ask you, what can we learn from monsters in your opinion?
01:44Um, that, you know, I think, you know, it's, it's important. I mean, we have, we, we have a character,
01:53um, you know, Max and some characters this season where they, the monsters, you know, you, they defeat,
02:01they can consume you, you can lose yourself to them. Um, and that fighting them alone is very difficult.
02:09And I think hopefully there's, uh, encourages, the show encourages a sense of, uh, community,
02:17a sense of family, the importance of working together, the importance of working through
02:22differences to, uh, to overcome that darkness. So that's the hope. And, you know, but at the end
02:28of the day, the show is a coming of age story, and it really is about characters and the characters
02:34who don't necessarily fit in to the world or struggle to fit in, who feel like outsiders.
02:41And when I have young people come up to me and say that it helped them and their friends through
02:47difficult times, that makes me happier than anything. So hopefully, you know, and that, that is what the
02:54show is and, and Vecna represents in so many ways, all the sort of dark thoughts, um, that we have
03:02about ourselves. And hopefully the show encourages people to not let that win in the end, um, and helps
03:12them find a way through it.
03:14Stranger Things is your biggest success, success. And you said that it was the first one.
03:19Yes. That's right. Yes. And, and if you could say something to, uh, yourself when, to the younger
03:29self, when you first, uh, were, were on set, what would you say to, to you? Oh my God.
03:38Oh my God. I think, you know, we, we've talked about this some, I think in some ways, you know,
03:45I would just tell myself to, to enjoy this, that we put a lot of pressure on ourselves,
03:50especially that first season. Cause we just wanted, you know, we felt like this was sort
03:54of our second chance cause we'd had a lot of failure prior to this in Hollywood. And so we
03:59put a lot of pressure on ourselves. It was a very stressful year making that show. And then
04:04immediately the stress just went up when the show was a success. Cause as we wanted to,
04:09you know, top ourselves, we wanted to keep going. And I think sometimes amidst all that you,
04:14you lose sight of a little bit of how, what an incredible opportunity this is that we're able
04:18to tell this story with these amazing people. And so I would just say, enjoy the ride a little bit
04:22more, but, um, I think that's what I would say. Yeah. And you did really good. So thank you so much.
04:29Thank you. Thank you.
