The victims of a shark attack on the New South Wales Mid North Coast have been identified as Swiss nationals.

00:00Police have confirmed the man and woman involved in yesterday's shark attack were Swiss nationals.
00:08They say while they're yet to formally identify the 25-year-old woman killed in the incident,
00:13they've spoken with her family.
00:15The 26-year-old man who suffered serious leg wounds was flown to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital
00:20after the incident yesterday in a serious but stable condition.
00:24Staff there have confirmed his condition has since improved and he's now stable.
00:29After he was helped by a woman on the beach who used a makeshift tourniquet.
00:34Lifeguards continue to be on high alert this morning.
00:37They've confirmed they've got drones up in the area searching for the bull shark,
00:40believed to have been involved in the attack.
00:43They say there have been a number of shark sightings this week and are urging swimmers to take care.
00:49Yeah, obviously the incident yesterday that everyone's probably heard of now,
00:53you know, it's going to be on everyone's minds when they go into the ocean.
00:56You know, it is the shark's environment so we're expected to see them sometimes.
01:02So, yeah, with the incident in mind, we just want people to keep a little bit more alert
01:08of their surroundings and if there's any worrying signs like bird activity or bait balls
01:14and things like that or murky water, maybe it's best to not go to the beach.
01:18Beaches from Camden Haven to Crowdy Bay have remained closed.
01:23Lifeguards are making a decision on whether to reopen them this afternoon.
