00:02Police have just confirmed that a man was killed by a shark while swimming at Sorrento
00:07Beach in Perth's North this morning. Around 10.30 this morning, members of the public
00:13called emergency services saying that there had been a shark attack. One witness that
00:19we spoke to said that they saw both a fin and blood in the water and the two people
00:25who had been swimming at the time. Only one of them made it back to shore. There were
00:30a lot of people at the beach this morning. Some of them witnessed what happened. Another
00:35local that we spoke to said it's just such a popular beach. So many people come swimming
00:40here every day and this is what they had to say. I just know that a couple of people do
00:46laps here every morning but unfortunately today is a bad one. It's very sad and very scary
00:52because a lot of people swim here. And Sam, have you heard how far off the beach this
00:57happened and what's going on there now? Well, the investigation is still continuing but
01:05from the witnesses that we did speak to, it occurred not too far from the beach around
01:1050 metres where people are typically swimming. And so the investigation is still of course
01:16continuing. We've still got police here at the beach. Their command centre is set up not
01:21far from here. And the city of Joondalup, Sorrento is in the city of Joondalup, they've closed
01:27all of the beaches in the area until midday tomorrow when they say that their officers will
01:33reassess what they're going to do next.
