00:00The Charlie's Angels reboot bombed at the box office over the weekend with a mere
00:08$8.4 million opening. Now, industry experts are trying to figure out just where to point
00:13the finger of blame. And more importantly, when should studios put an expiration date
00:18on old franchises? The debate comes as Charlie's Angels became the third consecutive franchise
00:22reboot attempt to bomb this month. It follows the dismal openings of the shining sequel
00:27Dr. Sleep and Terminator Dark Fate, the sixth installment in the franchise.

01:10situations that made their predecessors big enough hits to warrant venturing back into the vaults.

01:20Don't worry. He's gonna wake up.
01:22Unless he doesn't.
01:23And Jeff Bach of Exhibitor Relations says the fatal flaw in the Charlie's Angels reboot
01:27was that Sony didn't correctly calculate the demand or seemingly understand what made the original
01:32films work. Simply stated, it was star power. Kristen Stewart has proven she isn't a big
01:38box office draw. That's not to say she isn't a talented actress, but she and her cohorts
01:42don't have that it factor that Barrymore, Diaz, and Lou radiated.
