Daryl Hannah has broken her silence about the portrayal of her in 'Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.' 00:31not even a remotely accurate representation of my life, my conduct, or my relationship with John.
00:37She writes,
00:38I have never used cocaine in my life or hosted cocaine-fueled parties.
00:42I have never pressured anyone into marriage.
00:44I have never desecrated any family heirloom or intruded upon anyone's private memorial.
00:49I have never planted any story in the press.
00:51I never compared Jacqueline Onassis' death to a dog's.
00:55She continues,
00:56These are not creative embellishments of personality.
00:59They are assertions about conduct.
01:01And they are false.
01:02Hannah says that in the weeks since the series premiered, she's received, quote,
01:06hostile and even threatening messages from viewers.
01:08She says,
01:09When entertainment borrows a real person's name, it can permanently impact her reputation.
01:14Hannah also called out the, quote,
01:16gendered dimension of using her as a narrative device to help the audience root for JFK Jr.
01:20and Carolyn's romance.
01:22She writes,
01:23Isn't it textbook misogyny to tear down one woman in order to build up another?
