00:00We know a TV spinoff of the forthcoming film The Batman is in the works at HBO Max,
00:04but now there's already been a switch-up behind the scenes.
00:08The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively reveal that Boardwalk Empire creator Terrence Winter,
00:12who was poised to write and serve as showrunner on the Batman TV spinoff,
00:16has departed the series.
00:18Sources say creative differences are to blame for the split,
00:20as Winter's vision for the drama did not match what Matt Reeves and other producers had in mind.
00:25A search is underway for a new showrunner for the still-untitled drama
00:28that has been going by the working title of Gotham Central.
00:31HBO Max and studio Warner Bros. Television declined to comment.
00:34The drama set in the world Reeves created for the Batman feature film
00:37was picked up straight to series in July
00:39and designed as a companion show to go alongside the movie.
00:42The show will build upon the film's examination of corruption in Gotham City
00:46and ultimately launch a new Batman universe across multiple platforms.
00:50It's unclear if The Batman stars Robert Pattinson and Jeffrey Wright
00:53will appear in the HBO Max offshoot.
00:55The Batman is currently slated for a theatrical bow on March 4, 2022.
00:59If you are justice, please do not lie.
