00:00We know rapper Lil Dicky can act thanks to his Freaky Friday music video where he
00:07swaps bodies with Chris Brown. But now, Lil Dicky, aka Dave Bird, is taking things one step
00:13further with a show based on his own life, starring none other than the rapper himself.
00:17Cable network FX has handed out a pilot order to the untitled comedy starring the rapper
00:22and comedian, and the show comes from the all-star team of the league creator Jeff Schafer,
00:26Kevin Hart, and Scooter Braun. The potential series revolves around a suburban neurotic man
00:31in his late 20s who has convinced himself that he's destined to be one of the best rappers
00:35of all time. Now, he must convince the world. Sound familiar?
00:39You're a rapper?
00:40Yep.
00:40No, he's not like a rapper rapper. He's like a funny rapper. He raps about how small his dick is.
00:45The comedy is based on a story co-written by Bird and co-creator Schafer. Bird wrote the script
00:51and will star in the show, as well as executive produce the music for it. Greg Mottola of Adventureland
00:56and Superbad will direct the pilot. Bird's album, Professional Rapper, debuted at No. 7 on the
01:01Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Comedy, Rap and Independent charts. It featured the double
01:06platinum single, Saved Out Money.
01:14His latest single, Freaky Friday, hit No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has been on the charts
01:19for nine weeks since its debut, topping more than 500 million global streams in less than two months.
01:24If Lil Dicky's show is picked up to series, it would join a comedy roster at FX and FXX that includes
01:30the final season of You're the Worst, Atlanta, which is awaiting its formal third season renewal,
01:35Baskets, Better Things and What We Do in the Shadows.
