00:11Following its historic best picture victory at the 2020 Oscars, the South Korean dark
00:15comedy thriller made its biggest push yet in the U.S., expanding from 1,060 locations
00:20to 2,001 over the President's Day holiday weekend. The move proved to be a good one
00:25since Parasite raced up the chart to No. 7 with $6.8 million, making this the film's
00:30top weekend gross to date. Globally, the film has been a massive success.
00:34Parasite celebrated its Academy Award victory by zooming past the $200 million mark for
00:39CJ Entertainment despite the fact that it opened in many key markets, including South Korea,
00:44months ago. This past weekend it earned another $12.8 million for a foreign tally of
00:49$161.1 million. Its worldwide gross of $205 million includes
00:55$44.49 million in ticket sales in the U.S., where it now ranks No. 4 on the list
01:00of the top grossing foreign language films of all time. Box office analysts put
01:04Parasite's final U.S. gross at $50 million or more, with some saying the film could
01:09even approach $60 million. Parasite is the first non-English language film to ever win
01:13the Academy Award for Best Picture. It also won for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay,
