00:00How much does this affect them?
00:01The key is that this is a moving target with both of them
00:05because those are both injuries that you can make worse
00:08by playing on them, particularly the high ankle sprain.
00:11How big a deal is this is a very big deal.
00:15I think left tackle is one of the hardest positions to replace,
00:18as evidenced by the Patriots' offensive line problems
00:21over the last five years.
00:23It's as hard a position to replace as any on the field.
00:25I think there are offensive lines that have been pretty good
00:30that have been completely sabotaged by bad left tackle play.
00:33I think there are average offensive lines that have been made to look good
00:38by great left tackle play.
00:40To me, the Rams and the 49ers are the best examples of it
00:43where how many offensive linemen can you name that played for the Niners
00:47since Kyle Shanahan got there other than the left tackles?
00:51Maybe people know about Alex Mack, but he was in the back end of his career.
00:55There aren't very many.
00:56Mike McGlinchey, like those Niners teams have been held up
01:02on the offensive line by Joe Staley and then Trent Williams.
01:05And the Rams were a dumpster fire when Jeff Fisher was there
01:09on the offensive line.
01:11Sean McVay gets there.
01:12They sign Andrew Whitworth.
01:13All of a sudden, the offensive line isn't an issue anymore.
01:17That position is very, very important.
01:21And the reason why is because it's the position that's on the island, right?
01:26And so if you're not good there, then you need to help there.
01:30You either get beat there a lot because there are great pass rushers over there
01:33and they're going to put a great pass rusher over there
01:35if you're deficient at it, right?
01:37Or you're taking away resources to help out over there,
01:40which doesn't leave you as much.
01:42It changes the math.
01:43Mm.
