The White House pushed back sharply against criticism of President Donald Trump’s proposed Ukraine peace framework, insisting the administration is not “giving away too much to Russia” and that Trump “doesn’t favour either side.” The remarks came as political backlash intensifies in Washington, Kyiv, and across Europe, where officials have raised concerns about key elements of the plan.
Speaking to reporters, the White House spokesperson argued that “critics are misrepresenting the proposal,” stressing that the framework is designed to “stop the bloodshed, restore stability, and bring all parties back to the negotiating table.” The statement follows reports that the U.S. has urged Ukraine to take a position on the draft plan, which includes major security, territorial, and military provisions.
While Kyiv and several European leaders have voiced apprehension about the reported terms, the White House maintained that the initiative is “balanced and pragmatic,” and insisted no decisions will be imposed on Ukraine. The spokesperson also dismissed accusations that Washington is prioritizing relations with Moscow over its long-standing support for Kyiv, calling such claims “politically motivated.”

00:00I'll answer that in a question.
00:29The White House is supportive of the Pentagon's investigation into Mark Kelly, and what do you make of his response, that it's just intimidation?
00:35The White House is supportive of the Department of War's investigation into Senator Mark Kelly, and I think what Senator Mark Kelly was actually trying to do was intimidate the 1.3 million active duty service members who are currently serving in our United States Armed Forces with that video that he and his Democrat colleagues put out.
00:55Senator Mark Kelly well knows the rules of the military and the respect that one must have for the chain of command, and that all lawful orders are presumed to be legal by our service members.
01:07You can't have a functioning military if there is disorder and chaos within the ranks, and that's what these Democrat members were encouraging.
01:15It's very clear, and not a single one of them, since they've been pressed by the media, and I'll give you guys credit for that, can point to a single illegal order that this administration has given down because it does not exist.
01:26They knew what they were doing in this video, and Senator Mark Kelly and all of them should be held accountable for that.
01:31No, because Lindsey Callaghan was legally appointed, and that's the administration's position.
01:40I know there was a judge who is clearly trying to shield Letitia James and James Comey from receiving accountability, and that's why they took this unprecedented action to throw away the indictments against these two individuals.
01:53But the Department of Justice will be appealing very soon, and it is our position that Lindsey Callaghan is extremely qualified for this position, but more importantly, was legally appointed to it.
02:03What was the reaction to those indictments being thrown up?
02:06Is President Zelensky come to the United States this week?
02:11Are there a couple points?
02:12You mentioned on the function there would be a couple points.
02:15Yeah.
02:16So, there are no plans at this moment in time.
02:19As you know, things can change very quickly around here, so we'll keep you all apprised, but there's no meeting scheduled right now.
02:25As for where we are, I spoke with Secretary Rubio at length.
02:29I spoke with the president as well.
02:30Everybody inside feels optimistic about what happened and transpired yesterday in Geneva.
02:36Secretary Rubio, Special Envoy Whitcoff, the whole team really worked through the points of that 28-point peace plan that the United States authored with input from both sides, the Russians and the Ukrainians.
02:47And ultimately, the vast majority of these points have been agreed upon.
02:52The Ukrainians have worked on language with us together, and you heard that from their delegation directly yesterday.
02:58So, we feel as though we're in a very good place.
03:00Of course, we have to make sure that all of these points are agreed to, and then, of course, we're going to have to make sure the other party in this war, the Russians, agree to them as well.
03:08But I think the president deserves a great deal of credit for the amount of energy and effort he's put into trying to bring these two sides to an end of this war.
03:16He wants to see this killing stop.
03:18As for any deadlines, he wants to see this end as soon as possible.
03:22Is the president more determined to go after Tish James and James Comey?
03:27Go ahead.
03:27Is the president more determined to go after Tish James and James Comey?
03:30Excuse me.
03:31I'm answering a question from you.
03:32But you turned and looked at me.
03:33I'm sorry.
03:34I turned and looked at you because you're yelling.
03:35I will take a question from your colleague, and then I'll take your question, too.
03:39Okay?
03:39Go ahead.
03:40What are exactly the points of disagreement that they are still working on?
03:45I don't want to detail sort of the technical talks that are happening right now, but there are just a couple, and we're confident that we'll be able to work through those.
03:52Will the president put pressure on Putin or Zelensky if this doesn't work?
03:56The president's been putting a lot of pressure on both leaders for this entire time.
04:01We've been talking with both sides.
04:03He's been talking to both leaders directly for 10 months now.
04:06So, yes, you can expect that pressure to continue.
04:08The president wants this war to end.
04:10So, Caroline, is the president more determined now since the judge is ruling today to go after James Comey and Tis James, and if so, why?
04:18I wouldn't say he's going after them.
04:20I think the president is more determined than ever to see accountability in this country, yes, and to correct the wrongs of the weaponization of our justice system that we saw under the previous administration and Joe Biden.
04:30Are we entering a new phase in Venezuela, and what does that entail?
04:36Well, as the president is so good at, I'll try to be just as good.
04:39I'm not going to broadcast any actions that may or may not be happening with respect to Venezuela.
04:44I know I've been very clear about the administration's position, as has the president and his national security team.
04:50We view the Maduro regime as being illegitimate, and the president has been very satisfied with the successful strikes against narco-terrorists and foreign terrorists that are illegally trafficking drugs towards the United States of America.
05:03He's not going to tolerate that, and you can expect to see those strikes continue.
05:07Is there any meeting on Venezuela planned for this week?
05:11What was President Trump's reaction to those indictments against Comey and James being thrown out?
05:15His reaction was, we've seen this before.
05:18We've seen partisan judges take unprecedented steps to try to intervene in accountability before, but we're not going to give up.
05:25And I know that the Department of Justice intends to appeal these rulings very soon, if they haven't already.
05:30I may have missed it.
05:31Well, Caroline, one question on Venezuela.
05:33Is there any plan, a meeting for this week on Venezuela?
05:37And another one, a clarification on this weekend, because the president was asked about the former Brazilian president being arrested,
05:43and he mentioned that he spoke with this gentleman.
05:46Did he speak with Bolsonaro the day before he was arrested?
05:50Not to my knowledge.
05:52I don't know if that call took place or not.
05:54It may have.
05:55I can get you a firm answer on that, Raquel.
05:56I know it's of great importance to you for your reporting.
05:59As for meetings on Venezuela, there's meetings on a range of topics inside this building all of the time.
06:05And the president is constantly apprised of what's going on in the world, what's going on in the news.
06:11And he's very well written into all of the things that his team are working on.
06:14Caroline, Caroline, please.
06:16You would not go into the sticking points of the disagreement between the two parties in the Ukraine peace process.
06:23But how flexible is the president in coming to a deal?
06:29And will the Europeans be part of a final negotiation with Zelensky?
06:34I think he's been quite flexible already.
06:36We've been watching this war go on for 10 months.
06:39He's talked to both leaders countless times.
06:41Our team has engaged with both the Russians and the Ukrainians extensively.
06:45As I said, there is a sense of urgency.
06:47The president wants to see this deal come together, and he wants to see this war end.
06:52I wanted to ask you, is it MAGA to support American workers being replaced with H-1B visa holders?
06:59Are Americans not capable of filling most of these positions?
07:01Who supports getting American workers getting replaced?
07:05I know the president mentioned that he wanted to bring in some workers that he could eventually send back in regards to, I think.
07:10The president does not support American workers being replaced.
07:13You are mischaracterizing what the president said.
07:16The president wants to see our American manufacturing industry be revitalized better than ever before.
07:21That's part of what he's doing with his effective use of tariffs and cutting good trade deals around the world.
07:26That's why he's recruited trillions and trillions of dollars in investments into our country.
07:31Those are creating good-paying American jobs right here at home.
07:35As for the H-1B visa issue, the president has a very nuanced and common-sense opinion on this issue.
07:41He wants to see if foreign companies are investing trillions of dollars in the United States of America,
07:46and they're bringing foreign workers with them to create very niche things like batteries.
07:51He wants to see that at the beginning to get those manufacturing facilities and those factories up and running.
07:56But ultimately, the president always wants to see American workers in those jobs.
07:59And he's told these foreign companies that are investing here,
08:02you better be hiring my people if you're going to be doing business in the United States.
08:06So there's been a lot of misunderstanding of the president's position.
08:09I won't get into the details of the conversation this morning other than what the president put out on Truth Social.
08:22He put out his own readout of that, and I will leave it to that.
08:25But I did speak with him about the call.
08:27It lasted about an hour, and it was a very positive call.
08:30The focus of the call was really Russia-Ukraine did come up,
08:33but the focus was mainly on the trade deal that we are working on with China
08:38and those relations and how they are moving in a positive direction.
08:42The president also addressed our farmers,
08:44and we are pleased with what we've seen from the Chinese, and they feel the same way.
08:49And the president and President Xi discussed continuing to stay in correspondence
08:54following their very productive meeting in South Korea.
08:56On Ukraine, is the progress that you just laid out
09:01change the Thanksgiving Day deadline for Ukraine to come to an agreement,
09:06or does the president still want something more definitive by Thursday?
09:10And then on the Comey and James case,
09:13does the president still have confidence in Lindsey Alligant?
09:16Absolutely, he does, to your second question.
09:19As for your first question, with respect to the deadline,
09:21the president wants to see this deal come together as quickly as possible,
09:26and he trusts that his team is doing everything they can to get it over the finish line.
09:30Does the president support Israel's elimination of Hezbollah chief of staff,
09:36Ali Tabtai, yesterday, and is he in favor of Israel blocking Hezbollah from growing again?
09:41I haven't spoken to the president about that strike specifically,
09:45but of course the president supports Israel's right to defend itself
09:48and to take out any terrorist threats in the region.
09:52Jake?
09:52If the president does announce a proposal to cut healthcare costs,
09:56will that include the extension of Hezbollah in the Hezbollah city?
09:59I know there's been a lot of reporting on this from yourself as well, Jake,
10:03over the last few days.
10:04I will tell you that healthcare is a topic of discussion
10:08that's happening very frequently and robustly inside the West Wing.
10:12Right now the president's very much involved in these talks,
10:14and he's very focused on unveiling a healthcare proposal that will fix the system
10:19and will bring down costs for consumers.
10:21As for the details of those discussions, I'll let the president speak for himself.
10:26As you all know, sometimes you report things and then President Trump comes out with an announcement,
10:30and those things are not always true from what you hear from sources inside the building.
10:33So I'll let the president speak for himself.
10:35I think talk is cheap, and I think that the president is going to judge Mamdami
10:50by his actions that he takes to New York.
10:53The meeting was positive, as you heard from the president last week,
10:55and I think the fact that the president is willing to meet with somebody
10:58who said those types of things about him shows that he really is interested
11:03in being a president for all Americans, regardless of where they live or who their leader is.
11:08He wants what's best for New York. He loves New York City.
11:10He helped build the skyline. He spent his whole life there.
11:13And so he really wants to see New York do well.
11:15And so that's how that meeting played last week.
11:18Caroline.
11:18John.
11:19Thanks a lot, Caroline.
11:20There are a few Republican senators who are critical of the 28-point lease plan,
11:25including Senator Rounds, Senator Graham, Senator McConnell.
11:28What do you say to those senators who say that this is giving too much away to Russia?
11:34And has Russia made any concessions as it relates to a possible peace deal
11:40concerning ending the war in Ukraine?
11:43I would point any critics to the words of the Ukrainians yesterday,
11:47in which they said that they feel very positive about this plan.
11:50They've been very involved.
11:52They have had direct input on the language of this plan,
11:55and that we are in direct communication and correspondence with them.
12:00Any idea, let me just finish with this,
12:02the idea that the United States of America is not engaging with both sides equally in this war
12:07to bring it to an end is a complete and total fallacy.
12:10And I saw a lot of misinformation and rumors and allegations against people in this building,
12:16such as Secretary Rubio and Special Envoy Winkoff and the president himself,
12:20that they are favoring one side over the other.
12:22That could not be further from the truth.
12:24I have watched as the president and his team have worked around the clock overnight
12:29with both sides on endless phone calls, endless meetings to try to bring this war to a close.
12:34And any suggestion otherwise is a complete misunderstanding of the facts.
12:39It's coming from people who have no idea what they're talking about
12:41or people who are pushing their own agenda.
12:43Or maybe people who don't want to see this war come to an end.
12:46I don't know.
12:47Maybe they're profiting off of it.
12:48Maybe they benefit from it in some way.
12:50But nobody in this building benefits from war.
12:52We want to see this war come to an end.
12:54And that's what the president and his team are proudly working to do.
12:57And I think the critics should just take a step back
12:59and think about what happened with Israel and Gaza.
13:01There were a lot of doubters.
13:03And we got the hostages out.
13:04And this president secured a peace deal that still exists and is ongoing today.
13:08So everyone should just respect the work this administration is doing
13:11and watch the process unfold.
13:13We cast our Thanksgiving plan, Caroline over Ukraine.
13:25You
