00:01Simon, a penalty shootout win against Brighton in the National League Cup.

00:05Thoughts on how that evening played out?

00:07Yeah, pretty much the script as the rest of them have.

00:11Nice of us to keep 11 men on the pitch today,

00:14which is a rarity in this competition for us.

00:17But, yeah, very difficult games.

00:19They're very technical.

00:20Good side, Brian.

00:21Watched a lot of them over the years.

00:23Brilliant academy, producing lots of good players.

00:26And you can see that tonight.

00:28At time's first half, we struggled just to get the grips with it.

00:32They were a little bit sharper than us.

00:34But second half, I thought we came out.

00:37We were excellent.

00:38I think the changes probably freshened us up a little bit.

00:42And I thought we were really good towards the end of the game.

00:45Yeah, probably deserved the draw in the end.

00:49Yeah, so in this competition, you know you're going to come up against a good technical size.

00:52And that was the case today.

00:53But as you say, you really sort of got stronger in that second half

00:56and the changes sort of really did help there, didn't they?

00:58Yeah.

00:59Yeah.

01:00And as you say, I think it was all around a good game for us.

01:03You know, we got minutes into Aidan and to Sam Ashford

01:06who have been shorter minutes over the previous sort of six weeks.

01:09So that's good for us in terms of getting them up to speed a little bit more.

01:14And obviously then we make the changes and bring Josh and Ollie on

01:18and add some real intensity to the top of the pitch.

01:20But I thought Aaron Drew was excellent when he came on.

01:23Down that side, him and Tariq combined really well.

01:26So on the whole, yeah, pleasing evening for us.

01:29Yeah, and as you say, obviously that one of the other things is competitions.

01:32You can get minutes into guys who need them really, can't you?

01:35Which obviously you did, yeah.

01:36Yeah, and we've got, you know, probably now the strongest squad

01:39in terms of numbers we've had this season.

01:42You know, we've just got Dale with the one long-term injury.

01:44Everyone else now is getting up to speed and ready to start pushing for minutes

01:49into the first team.

01:50So, yeah, we should hopefully be in a good place going into a really busy festive period.

01:56Obviously got your reward at the end with the penalty, which Josh tucks away.

02:00And then obviously really good composure in the shootout, scoring four out of four on Craig Ross,

02:04making two good saves.

02:05Yeah, I mean, the boys said Ross would save at least three of them.

02:10And he nearly done that.

02:12So, yes, that's some good penalties for us.

02:14You know, we've got some technically good players and they showed that

02:17with the execution of their strikes tonight.

02:19As you say, sort of, yeah, good sort of clean bill and health in the group.

02:23And that would be good now.

02:24Obviously thoughts will turn to Brackley on Saturday.

02:26And obviously you're in a sort of real good run in the league at the moment.

02:29Eight unbeaten in the league.

02:30So I want to keep going really.

02:31Yeah.

02:32And, you know, whatever competition is, we just try and build the momentum.

02:35And as you say, we're in a good place in terms of our recent results.

02:39But, you know, that's no time to get soft and weakness about the group.

02:44You know, we're really going to drive the standards and what's got us into this good position.

02:48And hopefully we can carry that on and say a busy festive period.

02:51And if we can go into that and come out of it in good form,

02:54then, you know, it should set us up for a real big second half of the season.

02:57So the games will come sort of thick and fast over the next month or so.

03:00And just sort of thoughts on Brackley and what you expect from them.

03:03Yeah, I mean, we've played them twice, obviously.

03:06We know lots about them and two really difficult games, you know.

03:10So we expect a tough challenge.

03:12You know, we know what to expect and it's up to us to lick our wounds from our FA Cup defeat

03:19and turn up Saturday with our chest out and really give a good performance.
