00:01Simon, a late 2-0 defeat against West Ham under-21s,

00:04obviously after playing most of the second half with ten men tonight.

00:07Thoughts on that?

00:08Yeah, really difficult, wasn't it?

00:10It was a difficult night anyway with ten men.

00:12You're making it really hard for yourself.

00:15Unfortunately, Sam's eagerness probably has cost us tonight.

00:22He wants to score a goal, we understand that,

00:24but it's just a split-second decision and it makes it really hard for us.

00:29Ultimately, I thought the first half we probably shaded,

00:32probably had more shots on target than them,

00:34probably our XG was slightly higher than theirs.

00:37I thought it was a good game.

00:39After that, we had a plan to manage boys' minutes

00:43because obviously it's a Wednesday evening

00:45and we've got to travel to Scunford Friday morning.

00:48So that kind of plan went out the window a little bit.

00:52I don't think a blind man would have picked the team we finished with to start with,

00:57but hopefully we had to do what's best for the players

01:00and we're looking forward to Saturday's game.

01:03The first half was open and you had some good chances

01:07and then that sending off at the second half does completely change it, doesn't it?

01:11Yeah, absolutely.

01:39Yeah, only 44 minutes, I think, the first goal went in

01:42and you see the pin just go out of the team after that.

01:46And, you know, young Sonny's just been caught at the end, but, you know,

01:51it was a difficult evening from the second half onwards

01:55and I thought the lads on the whole conducted themselves really well.

01:58You know, we limited them to as much as possible.

02:03You know, young Tom in goals coming on his debut,

02:05made some fantastic saves, so that's really good for him.

02:08So, yeah, we just have to dust ourselves down now,

02:11count the bodies and look forward to Saturday.

02:13Yeah, Tom on his debut, given a man of the match,

02:16obviously a nice sort of boost for him to come in and show what you can do there.

02:18Yeah, yeah, you know, he obviously comes well-recommended

02:21and his pedigree is good and you saw a lot of his attributes today.

02:25And, yeah, I mean, obviously this competition, obviously, you know,

02:28every game you want to do well in, but I guess, obviously, you know,

02:30Scunthorpe and the league are obviously all the priority, aren't they?

02:33And you obviously did have to manage minutes and that sort of thing, didn't you?

02:35Yeah, I mean, these games on a Wednesday night are terrible for us, you know.

02:40And whoever thought that idea up certainly got no idea of sports science.

02:45Yeah, but obviously Wednesday night we get one day recovery

02:48before we travel and train on Friday.

02:51We're looking forward to a Saturday game.

02:53So, you know, it's not ideal, but it is what it is.

02:55And we have to dust ourselves down and prepare the best we can for a tough encounter,

02:59which will be Scum Football Way on Saturday.

03:01Yeah, and that Wednesday Saturday turnaround comes before a long trip as well, isn't it?

03:05Just kind of thought, yeah.

03:06Well, yeah, it never helps, does it?

03:08You know, but as you say, I think we at Rochdale played at one o'clock today.

03:14You know, I'm not sure whether that's something we have to look at, you know,

03:17just in terms of getting this maximum recovery and if we have to plan a Wednesday again.

03:21And, you know, it's not ideal, but as you say, we can't moan.

03:24We get on with it and we count the bodies and we go again and look to kickstart our season on Saturday.

03:30Yeah, I think you've managed to switch the other games in this competition to Tuesday.

03:33So, at least that's, you know, something that one will see in this competition again, you know,

03:37that Wednesday, Saturday.

03:38Something to look forward to.

03:39Yeah.

03:40And then just, yeah, thoughts on Scum Football now and sort of, you know,

03:43see the bodies, see who's around and go there positive.

03:45Yeah, absolutely.

03:46You know, they've had a couple of decent results.

03:49Made a lot of changes last night, so they'll be fresh and we've got to pick our freshest team and go

03:56and what will be a good occasion for them back in the National League for Scum Football.

04:01You know, they made a great year last year and Andy done a great job there, Andy Butler the manager.

04:05And I love Scum Football.

04:07It's a tight little ground, really old school football club, really good community club.

04:12And I look forward to going there because we'll have to do well to get a result there.

04:17And it's a place that I've normally done well at.
