00:00We recognise the cost of living is still a challenge for many families across the country.
00:03There are certain signs of improvement on wage growth, on inflation coming down,
00:08but we know food inflation is still a bit too high, for example.
00:11And that's why we're going to be taking measures to try to help people in the short term with cost of living.
00:15Some of the things we've already announced, for example, a freeze on rail fares,
00:19a continuation of the cap on bus fares, funded childcare, school-based nurseries,
00:23you know, these types of interventions.
00:25We'll see what the Chancellor announces later for other short-term measures.
00:28But in the long term, we need to make sure that we have stability in the economy,
00:33we have a grip of public finances so that we can get inflation down,
00:36wages rising so that in the long term people feel more secure and better off.
