Stormy weather swept across the Southeast on Nov. 25, but conditions are expected to clear up in time for Thanksgiving.
Transcript
00:00Widespread thunderstorms pushing east right now through eastern and central parts of Alabama,
00:05knocking on the door of West Georgia.
00:07Look out there in Carrollton, you're going to get into it here,
00:10and overall showers and storms extending southwest,
00:14and it's a pretty good consolidated line of thunderstorms.
00:17As we zoom in here, we're going to take the lightning off because there's just so much of it,
00:20but as we zoom in, you can see the line is kind of congealing into more of a linear northeast to southwest band of heavy rain
00:29with some wind and certainly a lot of lightning.
00:32Heading farther north, less instability, so it's rain, rain showers,
00:36a couple of rumbles of thunder up into southeast parts of Tennessee.
00:39Look out in Knoxville, you might have a little bit of that,
00:41but overall the severe weather risk is greater to the south.
00:43And there is the somewhat fragmented tornado watch that continues until 6 p.m. central time or 7 eastern,
00:50and we're looking at central Alabama.
00:53This has been trimmed out of Mississippi for now.
00:56Jackson, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama.
00:58And officially, Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, you are no longer under that tornado watch.
01:02But look at that there in Houston, Texas,
01:05one of those funnel clouds that ultimately produced one of the tornadoes.
01:08Really impressive stuff.
01:09That's nasty.
01:10Wednesday, we're going to have some more showers and storms into south Georgia.
01:13The eastern Carolinas, the severe risk is lower,
01:16but we're still going to be dealing with some warmth out there.
01:18Jacksonville, 82.
01:19Scattered storms.
01:20Tampa, you'll match that.
01:21Miami, still 84 with some showers around.
01:23Scattered thunderstorms into Virginia Beach.
01:25I-95, very busy, very busy here the day before Thanksgiving.
01:28There will be some thunderstorms that will slow travel down.
01:31And again, wet roads.
01:32There's a bigger risk, a greater hazard.
01:34Leave plenty of stopping distance between you and the person in front of you.
01:38Look at the hippos there at the Memphis Zoo.
01:39They're getting rained on, but not for long.
01:42In fact, the rain is long gone now from Memphis.
01:43We're back to dry weather.
01:45Cooler night for us there.
01:46The flamingos may have to, I don't know, maybe they go into the shelter or something like that
01:50with a chillier night, cool northwest flow.
01:52And overall, the green showers occur into south Florida.
01:55But it's going to be a nice Thanksgiving for most of us across the southeast.
01:58Black Friday shoppers, you may want to bundle up a little more than normal,
02:02turning cold in the southeast.
02:04But, Anna, that is nothing compared to the mess you have on the map there in the upper Midwest.
02:08Black Friday shoppers, you may want to bundle up a little more than normal,
