'The Gilded Age' star Audra McDonald shares which SAG Awards nominee she would like to work with in the future, if she's seen any season 3 scripts and more at the SAG Awards.
Transcript
00:00This is the first year that the Gilded Age is nominated for a SAG Award.
00:02How does it feel to receive this recognition from your fellow actors?
00:05Oh my gosh, it's everything.
00:06I mean, I think, you know, any awards recognition is amazing and cool,
00:10but when it's from your peers, it's really special, and it means more, I think, in a way.
00:16And I'm so proud to be a part of this company, you know.
00:18Have you seen any scripts for Season 3 yet? Any details on Season 3?
00:23No, I have not seen any scripts.
00:25I'm just excited for the costume sort of designs that will come up,
00:31because every year, you know, it's just more and more exciting to see what they're going to put on you
00:36and how tight the corsets are going to be.
00:39Since we are at the SAG Awards, is there a fellow SAG nominee that you would love to work with in the future
00:43that you haven't gotten the chance to work with yet?
00:46Oh my goodness, there's so many. Let me think.
00:49I mean, well, anybody from American fiction.
00:55Oh my gosh.
00:56I mean, I've known Jeffrey Wright for years, and even though we were both in Ruston,
00:59we didn't have a scene together, so I would love to work with Jeffrey.
01:02And if I can work with Coleman Domingo again, that would be thrilling.
01:06Such an exciting year for both of them,
01:08and exciting to see the trajectory they're on with their films.
01:11Yeah, yeah, I'm so proud of them.
01:13And I'm really excited for Coleman, especially.
01:16I mean, he's been in this business for such a long time
01:19and been doing such stellar work for such a long time,
01:21so it's so lovely to see him finally be recognized.
01:24Speaking of having lots of experience in this business,
01:27for you, what role got you your SAG card? Do you know?
01:31You know, I responded to something.
01:33I responded to this question with another interview,
01:35and I said it was Mr. Sterling that I did with Josh Brolin that Lawrence O'Donnell wrote,
01:39but I think that's wrong.
01:41I think it was having our say that I did with Ruby Dee and Diane Carroll.
01:47I think that was my SAG card.
01:49I think.
01:50I'm old.
01:51One of the two.
01:52I'm pretty sure that was it.
01:54Yeah.
01:55And since tonight is all about actors,
01:57who in your life championed your love of acting early on
02:00and made you believe that this dream was possible?
02:03Honestly, my family.
02:04They saw that this was something that I, when I did it as a kid,
02:07they saw that I flourished, they saw that I was less hyperactive,
02:11they saw that I was fulfilled as a kid,
02:13they saw that my energy was channeled,
02:14and so they're the ones that said keep at it.
02:17Just get a degree, but keep at it.
