Best Actress Oscar winner and 'Anora' star Mikey Madison sat down with The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive morning-after interview for THR's digital cover. The newest Hollywood A-lister who — still waking up to the reality of her stunning win — opens up about her upset victory, Oscar night escapades and her post-ceremony texts with Demi Moore.

00:00I'm still kind of floating in a dreamlike state.

00:05Very, very surreal night.

00:07Obviously so celebratory and wonderful,

00:11but I think that I need time to really digest the magnitude of it.

00:16I was just sort of like floating five feet above the ground

00:21and really trying to be present,

00:24but in a moment like that that is like so spectacular,

00:28I think you're just taking everything that comes at you at like,

00:31you know, 10 times speed.

00:33But I also simultaneously felt like I was moving in slow motion.

00:36It was really, I don't know, I need to really think about it

00:41and just try to savor it.

00:44Obviously I'm incredibly honored and deeply overjoyed

00:48and totally in shock and humbled,

00:51but I loved all of those women and their performances

00:54and so I was happy.

00:55I saw Fernanda and we hugged

00:59and I texted with Demi, who I adore.

01:06She's one of the sweetest, kindest women I've ever met.

01:11I'm so grateful that I was able to meet her,

01:13witness her brilliance and her talent in person.

01:16I just adore her and she's just so kind.

01:21It's such an honor to be recognized

01:24and I hope that throughout my life, you know,

01:27throughout all stages of my life,

01:29I'll be able to continue working at this capacity

01:32and keep playing interesting characters.

01:35It's just a whole new experience.

01:36I'm very used to like fighting for a character,

01:41fighting for an audition and just, you know,

01:45that sort of like trying to like kick the door open,

01:49you know, for more than a decade now.

01:51And so it just, it's a little different

01:53and I'm really excited for the future

01:56and I'm excited for the roles that I might get to play

01:59and people I might get to work with.

02:01I have lots of dreams and things I'd like to do,

02:04but you know, I'm only 25.

02:07I feel like I'm a student in so many ways.

02:10Like I feel like I've just,

02:12I'm only just learning about all of this.

02:14And so it's, it's, this is an amazing, amazing reminder

02:18to continue on that path and keep learning and growing

02:21and pushing myself in different ways.

02:25And so, you know, I hope to keep feeling like a student

02:29even, you know, 40 years from now.
