00:00Don't miss Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest.
00:03Amy Adams will have multiple chances for her name to be called at both the Golden Globes and SAG
00:08Awards. The actress has notched up a rare achievement by being up for acting noms in both
00:12film and TV for her roles in Vice and Sharp Objects, respectively. She's also up for a
00:17producing nod for her work on the HBO limited series. Speaking to THR's Rebecca Ford, Adams
00:21explains that gaining a little weight was helpful when stepping into the role of Lynn Chaney in
00:26Vice. Says Adams, who gained 12 to 15 pounds for the role,
00:29the weight gain was great because I felt that Lynn was somebody who was very grounded
00:33and had a lot of gravitas in the way that she walked. She was not flirty or light in any way.
00:38As I started to embrace her connection to the earth, that's when it really started clicking in.
00:42While the Oscar-nominated actress doesn't feel that Vice and Sharp Objects have anything in common,
00:46she does acknowledge that one helped with the other.
00:50I credit working on Vice for helping me pull out of Camille, she says.
00:53If I hadn't had something to focus on that felt so different, I might have had a different
00:57transition out of that character. Speaking of her predicament on Globe's night of where to sit in
01:02light of her dual nominations, Adams calls it an embarrassment of riches and reveals that she is
01:06looking forward to seeing fellow nominee Emily Blunt at the awards ceremony.
01:10She's so impressive. I just felt like she really made it her own and made it special,
01:14she says, referring to Blunt's starring role in Mary Poppins Returns.
01:18As for Adams' awards season motto, she offers up these very wise words.
01:22Eat, bring snacks, she says. Nuts aren't always good because they get stuck in your teeth.
01:26I learnt that the hard way.
