RARE MOMENT CAPTURED OF A WILD SHOWDOWN BETWEEN TWO HIPPOS WITH PIX AND VID By Shuk Yee Tsang Two massive hippos clash in an epic encounter. Pareet Shah, 46, a professional photographer from Kenya, captured this rare sighting in the Maasai Mara. Pareet has been photographing animals for decades, starting as a young boy exploring local National Parks with his family. He shared that spotting this rare fight was both thrilling and intense, describing the jaw-locking battle as a fight for territory and mating rights. Pareet said: “We were driving on a game drive photographing lions when we noticed two animals fighting in the distance. "Through binoculars, we realised it was two massive male hippos. “They locked jaws for minutes at a time, the tusks making incredible noises, and one was clearly losing blood. "It was intense and rare to witness in the wild. “Male hippos fight mainly for territory and mating rights, and encounters like this rarely happen outside the water. “When we left, the battle was still ongoing, and it looked likely one of them would not survive.” END
