Hippo charges car in South Africa

A dramatic video has emerged of a hippo charging a car in Vaalwater, South Africa.

The footage, shot last month, captures the moment the hippo rushes towards the car after it was shot with a tranquilliser dart by a vet.

It also proves that, despite their weight, hippos can move very quickly on dry land and are extremely dangerous predators.

The female hippo was successfully re-located to a nature reserve, according to the filmer.
