Stephen Amell is clarifying his comments after seemingly speaking out against the SAG-AFTRA strike. 00:00Stephen Amell is clarifying his comments after seemingly speaking out against the SAG-AFTRA strike.
00:06During an earlier appearance at GalaxyCon, the Arrow star revealed,
00:10I feel like I'm insulated in Hollywood because that's where I live.
00:14I feel like a lot of people in this room aren't aware of the strike.
00:17I support my union, I do, and I stand with them, but I do not support striking, I don't.
00:23He continued, I think that is a reductive negotiating tactic,
00:26and I find the entire thing incredibly frustrating.
00:30However, on Tuesday, Amell took to Instagram to clarify his remarks in a lengthy post,
00:34writing in part,
00:35He further added,
00:47I understand why we are striking, but that doesn't mean it isn't emotionally frustrating.
00:52And later,
00:52I certainly don't think these issues are simple.
00:55Our leadership has an incredibly complicated job, and I am grateful for all that they do.
01:00Amell's original comments were considered one of the first by an actor to say anything against the strike,
01:05which began July 14th after SAG-AFTRA's contract expired and talks broke down with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
01:13The union felt a labor stoppage was necessary to get the best deal for the issues at stake,
01:19including compensation from streaming and artificial intelligence.
