00:00When I started this journey, it was always going to be just that.
00:04It was going to be a journey, an adventure.
00:07I never saw it as my final destination.
00:11James Corden is saying goodbye to The Late Late Show after next season.
00:15The host used his Thursday monologue to open up about his departure in 2023.
00:19I've decided to sign for one more year on the show and that this will be my last year hosting The Late Late Show.
00:26During his time hosting the CBS show, Corden introduced signature segments like Carpool Karaoke, Drop the Mic, and Crosswalk the Musical,
00:34which regularly features superstar guests from the world of pop culture.
00:38The Late Night host went on to say in his monologue that he is determined to, quote,
00:42make this the best year we have ever had making this show.
00:45We are going to go out with a bang. There's going to be carpools and crosswalks and sketches and other surprises.
00:53Although he still has a year left, Corden admitted that departing was the hardest decision he's ever had to make
00:59and that he's never taken the job for granted.
01:01The fact that we get to try and entertain you and spend time with you
01:06is an absolute privilege for me and every single person who makes this show.
01:12Corden, who was visibly emotional, concluded the segment like this.
