00:00Timothee Chalamet is set to appear on an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live as both the host
00:04and musical guest, making him the first non-professional singer in 30 years to do so.
00:11In the 50-year history of the NBC sketch series, 41 people have served as both host and musical
00:17guest on the same night, including stars like Taylor Swift, Paul Simon, Ray Charles, Elton John,
00:23and Britney Spears. Of them, only four have been non-professional singers or musicians.
00:28The most recent example being 30 years ago with Deion Sanders on February 18, 1995.
00:35The other non-pro singers to both host and perform on SNL as the musical guest include
00:40Lily Tomlin, Desi Arnaz, and Gary Busey. Chalamet will be added to that list on Saturday, January 25.
00:47The star of the Bob Dylan drama A Complete Unknown is known to be a huge fan of rap music,
00:52but presumably he'll limit his musical contributions to a few Dylan covers,
00:55perhaps blown in the wind or like a rolling stone. The timing couldn't be much better for Chalamet,
01:01who is vying to become, at age 29, the youngest Best Actor Oscar winner in history. Oscar nominations
01:07will have been announced on January 17, and the final round of Oscar voting won't begin until February
01:1211. For more on this story and all the latest news, head to THR.com. This is The Hollywood Reporter News.
