00:00When you make a mistake you've got to take responsibility so I thought I would
00:03if it's okay I would share with you what happened. James Corden is finally addressing the ongoing
00:09drama surrounding his recent ban from a New York restaurant for alleged abusive behavior.
00:15Following a week of intense scrutiny, speculation and a fair deal of social media backlash,
00:20Corden took the time on Monday's episode of The Late Late Show to explain his side
00:24and what had happened in his very public dust-up with the owner of famed New York eatery Balthazar.
00:29In a recent interview with the New York Times, Corden had commented on the drama that initially
00:33stemmed from an Instagram post from owner Keith McNally who revealed that he had the British
00:38comedian banned from Balthazar for being an abusive customer towards his servers.
00:43Corden told the Times the whole debacle was silly and quote beneath all of us.
00:48McNally took to Instagram to comment on Corden's response writing
00:51Was he joking or was he denying being abusive to my servers?
00:55Whatever Corden meant, his implication was clear. He didn't do it.
00:58On Monday night, Corden dove into his recollection of events in an attempt to provide context,
01:03saying he was dining out with his wife and friends and noted his wife has a serious food allergy.
01:09So when everybody's meals came, my wife was given the food that she was allergic to.
01:14Corden then explained that the restaurant's servers had gotten her order wrong three times.
01:19In the heat of the moment, I made a sarcastic, rude comment, right, about cooking it myself.
01:26And it is a comment I deeply regret.
01:29Corden said the servers and the managers were lovely about everything and very apologetic.
01:33I've been walking around thinking that I hadn't done anything wrong, right?
01:37But the truth is, like I have, I made a rude comment and it was wrong.
01:41It was an unnecessary comment. It was ungracious.
01:45He added,
01:45I said to the owner that day that if I ever upset anybody ever, it was never my intention.
01:51Corden concluded by pledging that he would apologize to the Balthazar staff again in person.
01:56That is, if they let him in.
