00:00We have named one of the rooms of the Heart Institute floor in honor of Billy.
00:05Alan DeGeneres surprised 2018 Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel with a special gift on her Monday show.
00:10Since first announcing that his son Billy was born with congenital heart disease last May,
00:14Kimmel has continued to publicly discuss his child's health on his late night show.
00:19In doing so, Kimmel often gets emotional, especially when making pleas for health care reform in Billy's name
00:24or thanking the doctors and nurses who treated him.
00:27Kimmel has also teared up while delivering monologues about a number of tragedies,
00:31most recently the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
00:33Kimmel told DeGeneres,
00:37Now, DeGeneres and her viewers had previously raised $1 million for Children's Hospital Los Angeles
00:42when Kimmel's son was undergoing heart surgery.
00:44On her Monday show, the daytime host revealed she had a surprise for him, saying,
00:52DeGeneres then announced they had named a room on the Heart Institute floor in honor of Billy.
00:57This was Kimmel's reaction.
01:03Kimmel also spoke about hosting Sunday's Oscars during the appearance, saying,
01:07This is a weird year because there are a lot of very serious things happening.
01:11Of course, the Oscars are still several days away.
01:13Who knows what's going to happen between now and then?
01:15He also clarified once again that the whole envelope thing was not his fault.
01:19In an appearance on Good Morning America on Tuesday,
01:21Kimmel admitted that he still doesn't know how the mix-up even happened.
01:25And while he thinks it would be funny if it happened again,
01:27Kimmel said Oscars showrunners are taking precautions this year.
01:31Pricewaterhouse's Coopers will literally have to go out of business if they do it a second time.
01:36So I think they're going to be very, very careful.
01:38The same could be said for how Kimmel plans to approach topics such as the Me Too movement
01:42and Time's Up initiative.
01:43When ABC News' Paula Faris asked if he would address the movement, he said,
01:47Kimmel continued by saying that any jokes he makes are not going to stop any bad behavior.
02:10And as for his joke writing process, he revealed this.
02:13I have now whittled it down to probably 500 jokes.
02:17So by hopefully the end of next week, I'll have whittled that down to 100 jokes.
02:22The host said he'll likely narrow the list down to 30 jokes by showtime.
