00:00It looks like Ryan Murphy is leaving Netflix for Disney.
00:04Murphy is expected to depart the streamer for The Mouse House at the end of his five-year,
00:09nine-figure overall deal with Netflix, and reunite with Dana Walden, who worked closely
00:14with Murphy when she headed what was then 20th Century Fox TV, and he had a deal there.
00:19The new not-yet-completed pact, as Murphy's Netflix deal doesn't expire until the end of the
00:24month, would also bring him back in-house with FX's John Landgraf, with whom he's had a long,
00:29close creative relationship with.
00:31Murphy famously left 20th in 2018 for a $300 million deal at Netflix, becoming, along with
00:37Shonda Rhimes, one of the biggest producers to sign with the streamer.
00:41However, his early days at Netflix proved rocky, with projects like Hollywood, Halston, and
00:46the feature film The Prom failing to cut through.
00:49The past year has been the most fruitful of the deal, with Dahmer and The Watcher both
00:53becoming breakout hits for the streamer.
00:55Murphy also continued to produce popular franchises for 20th that predated his departure, such
01:01as American Horror Story and 9-1-1, the American Crime Story anthology, Pose, and Feud.
01:07Now, in an ironic twist, Murphy will continue producing installments of his Netflix hits like
01:11Monster, with season two focusing on the Menendez brothers, and Watcher for Netflix CEO Ted
01:17Sarandos, while calling Disney his creative home.
