00:00Hey, how's it going, Avery?
00:01Good, good.
00:03Very excited about your season.
00:05Were you hesitant at all about being a bachelor?
00:08Was there any part of you that thought about saying no?
00:11I think that you have to think through the decision.
00:14I wanted to make sure that I was fully ready and I thought that I could do this.
00:18But if I'm being honest, pretty early on when I was going through the process of it,
00:23I was like thinking about doing it.
00:25I knew that if the opportunity came, I was going to say yes.
00:28Yeah, you know, obviously relationships, you know, and what you need out of them
00:32change, you know, through experiences and whatnot.
00:36Was there anything that when you look back on your experience with charity and the
00:40bachelorette that you realize that you need in a relationship now?
00:43Yeah, I think that I always try to learn from any past relationship.
00:48And one thing I learned from being with charity, just from past relationships in general,
00:51is how much I need someone that thinks of other people, is very understanding, is very kind.
00:56And I feel like when I connect with them, I can just feel that coming off of them at all times.
01:00So Charity had that.
01:02She was just a very sweet and kind person.
01:04And I know that's something I'm looking for in the person that I want to be with.
01:08What was it like for you switching positions from suitor to the bachelor?
01:13I feel like you have a lot more control of your destiny a little bit this time around,
01:17but it's still like, it must have felt like whiplash.
01:21Yeah, you definitely have more control, but there's also a lot more that comes with it.
01:25There's a lot more expectations.
01:27You obviously have a lot more time on the show, and it comes with its own territory.
01:32But I enjoyed it.
01:34I took it as much as I could in stride, like I said.
01:37And it was a great experience at the end of the day.
01:39You had been on the one end of rose ceremonies, and now you are on the other.
01:45What was that like?
01:47Like your first rose ceremony, were you intimidated a little bit?
01:50Like, I don't know.
01:51Like, there's a lot of pressure there.
01:52Yeah, I think when you're on the contestant side, you have that pit in your stomach.
01:56If you don't have the rose on your chest, like, you're worried about going home.
02:00So that is, you can't compare that, because that's a completely different feeling,
02:04and it's way different on this side.
02:06But you also have this feeling of feeling bad that you're going to have to say goodbye to people.
02:11And it's probably, I wouldn't even say probably,
02:13it's the hardest part of the experience are those rose ceremonies, because you feel terrible.
02:18These people put themselves out there, you make real connections,
02:21and it can end with just a snap of a finger.
02:24And I always try to do it with as much compassion as I could.
02:27But it's a very tough time, and neither are easy.
02:30But I will say the contestants have it a little worse.
02:33You know, there's this mystery card that I think that has sort of taken over the internet
02:38that Leah has.
02:40And in the previews we've seen, it's sparking some concern.
02:43Can you tease the impact of what's inside this envelope?
02:48Yeah, I can let you know that it is definitely impactful.
02:51It's a big part of the episode, and I think it's going to be worth tuning in
02:54to figure out what's on that card.
02:56I mean, it's been a while since we've had kind of a twist, you know, like this.
03:03So it's going to be really cool to sort of see how that sort of impacts the season
03:08and, you know, how the show continues to switch things up, you know,
03:12however many seasons, 28 seasons in.
03:14Right.
03:15No, I think they always try to do something different where they can.
03:18I like that.
03:19Yeah.
03:19Do you have any regrets over what goes down this season?
03:23No, I'm not someone that likes to focus on regrets.
03:26I know that I always did the best job that I could.
03:29I led with my heart.
03:30I was honest and true.
03:31And I just I don't like to think about regretting anything because I know I made the best decisions
03:36I could at that time.
03:37And I'll live with however it looks at the end of the day.
03:40Did you fall in love?
03:43I don't think I can answer that one.
03:45I can just tell you that I'm happy right now.
03:47So you're happy with how your bachelor journey ended?
03:50100%.
03:50Yeah, I'm very happy and I'm excited for everyone to see how the whole journey goes.
03:55How did your parents and your family just react to this?
03:59This is going from Souter to the bachelor.
04:03That's quite the pipeline.
04:05Like a lot more comes with it.
04:07Yeah, I think that they were excited.
04:10They were definitely in my corner.
04:11I think with the bachelorette, they were so worried about me getting my heart broken.
04:14On this one, they're still worried because they know there's a lot of things that come
04:18along with it.
04:19But they know that I'm going to be able to have a little bit more control and they just
04:22kind of hope that I would find my person.
04:24So they were nothing but supportive.
04:26And yeah, I know they're in my corner, which is all I can ask for.
04:29During the show and while you were filming, you know, whether it be like in California or
04:34all the places that you guys went, did you find a tennis court?
04:38Did you always manage to sort of stumble upon one to, you know, get some practice in or
04:43like just sort of let loose a little bit?
04:45I'll let you know.
04:46We found a few tennis courts.
04:47I think they're going to see a couple of different tennis courts throughout the show.
04:51Awesome.
04:51Well, I am very excited to see your journey and hopefully we can chat again very soon
04:57about, you know, as the show continues, as the season continues.
05:00Yeah.
05:01So nice to meet you.
05:02I appreciate it.
05:03Nice to meet you too.
05:03Thank you so much.
05:06Thanks, Avery.
05:07Thanks.
