00:10Today I feature the best premium live streaming Android box for 2025 from none other than VC
00:16box. This is their latest model called the VC box V6 plus. So in this video I will do my usual full
00:23review of its hardware performance and features. And if you are a long-term viewer and subscriber
00:28to my channel, well you guys know the drill when it comes to YouTube's community guidelines.

00:45With that said these models are twice and sometimes three times the cost of your standard
00:49Android boxes and there's a reason for this. And again for more information contact me via email.
00:54So my full review begins right after this.
01:12So welcome back after that unboxing. So in this purchase you have the super glossy V6 plus model
01:20itself. You get one VC box branded Bluetooth voice remote with Google Assistant feature
01:26and it also features IR learning and backlit keys. You get one HDMI cable, a 5V 2A DC power supply,
01:36and a user manual with a barcode to an online manual.
01:42For design it consists of a glossy plastic housing with the VC box branding at the top.
01:48For IO at the back it comes with one HDMI 2.1 port, one gigabit LAN port, one SD card reader,
01:56one optical audio, one USB 3.0, another USB 2.0. It has a reset button and its DC input socket all at the back.
02:06At the front it has an LED power light indicator. And to its base has 4 rubber feet with lots of ventilation holes.
02:14So its first startup process features its usual VC box animation.
02:22Followed by the pairing of the Bluetooth remote.
02:26Then a first startup wizard.
02:29Then you are taken to the launcher.
02:33The launcher is their standard launcher and it's called the Grip launcher.
02:37It features horizontal scrolling panels for installed apps and recommended apps.
02:42At the bottom you have your shortcuts bar for settings, launcher settings, wireless updates,
02:49programmable hotkeys, Wi-Fi settings. You can redo the first startup wizard.
02:56You have its basic system information, power key definition options, and one click memory cleanup.
03:03If you are watching this segment it means that you are not on YouTube and you are watching the unedited
03:12original full version of the video. So the selling price of this box is $369 with a $50 coupon which gives
03:20you around $319. So for this price let's see what you get in terms of live streaming and video on demand.
03:28First for live TV, you get VC box's signature live TV streaming app, the heat live app. In this app,
03:37you get 2,115 live TV channels consisting of news, sports, local network channels, premium network channels,
03:46and 24-7 channels. This single app alone satisfies over 90% of users of this box. These channels don't buffer
03:54and they are in HD 1080p quality. Next you have Live Plus Ultra. This is a US dedicated live streaming app
04:04for all local and popular network channels. All in HD quality. This one has 2,421 channels in total.
04:13Also keep in mind this app only works in the US. So if you are outside of the US you will need to use a VPN to view it.
04:21Next you have Live Ultra. This is another alternative app same as the Live Plus Ultra. This one gives you
04:301695 channels. This one also requires a VPN outside of the US. So those are your live streaming options.
04:43For video on demand for watching movies and TV series, you have the Heat VOD app. This app gives you 42
04:502,853 movies across all genres in HD quality and you get 14,974 TV series in HD quality.
05:06As an alternative you have the Heat VOD Ultra. This gives you more movies all in 1440p FHD resolution.
05:16You get 11,547 movies and the 3,616 TV series. These video on demand apps do not require a VPN
05:27if you are outside of the US.
05:29And if you missed any live TV programming you have the Heat backup app. This app gives you up to one
05:45week of pre-recorded content for all of the live TV channels. These backed up recordings are stored on
05:51their servers so you don't have to worry about storage on the box. So if you are new to these boxes,
05:58that is what the high price is for, not so much for the hardware itself.
06:04For basic system information, it shows that its operating system is Android 14 tvOS.
06:11However, you do not get access to developer options.
06:14Let's have a look at its firmware features.
06:20You get up to 4K 2160p at 60Hz.
06:25You get HDR display with an adaptive HDR feature.
06:28You get auto frame rate switching.
06:33Under formats, it shows that you have HDR10 and HLG. I'll test for these in just a moment.
06:40You get HDMI CEC options.
06:44Power key definition options.
06:45A new feature called enable non TV version apps. This is a feature to enable sideloading of all your
06:53favorite ap keys. I will indeed test for this in just a moment.
06:58You have an NTP server option. This is for accessing the box's storage over your network.
07:04It comes with a parental control lock application. You can change the password also.
07:10And for audio on the format it shows that it supports Dolby digital.
07:14So I'll test for surround sound audio in just a moment.
07:19Now for its system and hardware information.
07:23The manufacturer of this chipset is Amlogic.
07:26And it comes with 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal storage with Bluetooth 5.0.
07:34Its CPU is the Amlogic S905Y5, a quad core cortex A55 processor clocked at 1.7GHz configured in 32-bit mode.
07:45Its display and graphics are powered by the Mali-G31 GPU with OpenGL ES version 3.2.
07:53Its network adapter provides dual band 2.4 plus 5GHz WiFi.
07:59Its Android 14 operating system shows that it's not rooted.
08:04Its GPU has Vulkan support API version 1.1.
08:09It has an idle operating CPU temperature of approximately 49 degrees Celsius.
08:16And for audio and video decoders. For video you get HEVC, AV1, and VP9 decoding.
08:23And for surround audio you get Dolby Atmos EAC3 and DTS-HD. You don't get Dolby vision.
08:31And that is system and hardware information. For digital rights management, its DRM information
08:38shows that it has Google Widevine level 1 with HDCP 2.3 protection. Its root checker app also confirms
08:47that the firmware is indeed not rooted. Under basic system information you did not see any Netflix
08:54ESN license. But not to worry. If you have a Netflix HD subscription, they have included a modified
09:00version of the app that will allow you to view movies in at least HD 1080p quality with your paid
09:06subscription. For watching YouTube videos you get up to 4K 2160p resolution with HDR. However,
09:15the launcher's display is 1080p so it's cropped into a 1080p frame as shown here under the viewport information.
09:31For mobile screen mirroring, it does not come with the official version of Miracast or a screen app
09:37that can cast your mobile devices in HD quality.
09:41So you are left with only the alternative of using its default casting feature via the airscreen
09:47app. Here I'm casting my android cell phone. However, with using its default casting feature,
09:53you don't get HD quality.
10:06For voice search and voice commands, it comes with Google Assistant and the feature works perfectly.

10:34Open Netflix.
10:35For watching self-hosted videos you get 4K HDR, HLG, and AV1. You don't get Dolby Vision or HDR10 Plus.
10:50So this is HDR10.
11:02This is AV1.
11:03This is HLG when you try to play a Dolby Vision video.
11:26This is a Dolby Vision video that registers as HDR10 with Dolby Atmos.
11:31This is HDR10 Plus that decodes as HDR10.
11:45And this is official HLG.
11:48When connected to a surround sound audio compatible TV or an AV receiver that supports Dolby and DTS
12:06surround sound audio in the audio format settings, the formats that weren't available before now become
12:12available.
12:14So here I have it connected to my 7.1 AV receiver.
12:17And I will now test for Dolby and DTS surround sound audio formats.
12:22So this is Dolby Atmos.
12:25The world's first object-based cinematic audio.
12:29With powerful moving audio that transcends from channels.
12:33This is Dolby Digital Plus.
12:35You don't get DTS HD master audio you get DTS Virtual X instead.
12:58This is Dolby surround from Dolby Vision videos.
13:01You don't get Dolby through HD.
13:14And you don't get DTS X, you get DTS Virtual X instead.
13:18I was pretty excited to see if the new allow non-Android TV app switch would allow me to sideload
13:32all my favorite apps and games that I would usually run on the mobile version.
13:37But unfortunately it does not work.
13:39I am still restricted to what I can run from the Android TV Play Store.
13:43Even if I sideload.
13:53Let's now take a look at some benchmarks and where it ranks on my TV box rankings chart.
14:14First, the results from the speed test performed on its RAM and internal storage.
14:18It has a RAM transfer speed of 2958 MBps.
14:25Its internal storage has a read speed of 178 and a write speed of 108.
14:33The results from the test performed on its dual Wi-Fi bands and its LAN ports show
14:38that you get maximum speed on its 5 GHz band.
14:41The 2.4 GHz band averaged around 76 Mbps.
14:44And the LAN port is not a gigabit LAN port averaging around 94 Mbps.
14:52In benchmarking its CPU's single core and multi-core threading performance,
14:57the Geekbench 5 CPU benchmark produced a score of 130 single core and 456 multi-core.
15:04In benchmarking its GPU's graphics rendering performance, the 3DMark Gamers benchmark wild
15:11live test produced a score of 205 with an average FPS of 1.20.
15:19And in the Antutu benchmark version 9 because it could not run version 10 or 11,
15:25it received a score of 95,894.
15:30So those are the benchmarks, let's now see where it ranks on my chart.
15:35So the scores are in.
15:37And the new VCBOX V6 Plus is at position 59 at the time of making this video.
15:44I gave it a 4 out of 5 star rating, not solely based on its hardware performance,
15:49but for their choice of hardware for these types of models.
15:52In addition to the service it provides which is second to none,
15:56and the built-in modified version of Netflix with your paid subscription.
16:01So I find this strikes the right balance between high-end models,
16:05it is better than the cheap all-winner models, and it provides the best live streaming service.

16:28In summary, I'm satisfied with the performance of this model.
16:32And here are some of the positive takeaways.
16:35It's a VCBOX model so you know there is no buffering.
16:38They used an Amlogic chipset which has much better performance than all-winner.
16:43It includes a really good Bluetooth voice remote with backlit keys.
16:47They provided a Google certified model on Android TV OS version 14.
16:52And the bonus is the version of Netflix that you can use with your paid HD subscription.
16:57So keep in mind, it works with your paid Netflix subscription in HD.
17:02There are a few things you should take note of if you are concerned about caveats.
17:06Firstly, it does not have a gigabit LAN port.
17:09Its Google Play store is restricted, and you have difficulties sideloading and running external APKs.
17:15Its CPU is clocked at 1.7GHz, so it's not classified as a gaming model.
17:21And it's missing a few decoders such as Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Vision.
17:26So there you have it. VCBOX has done it again in its latest model.
17:30And they continue to deliver value for money.
