00:07Thank you, thank you, thank you.
00:10All right, though the session is called नई सितारे, I have to say there is hardly anything नया.
00:15Okay, you guys are very, sort of what do I say, tried and tested, no, just not done and dusted yet, right?
00:24So what exactly is keeping you going at the moment?
00:26Let's start with Kritika, let's give her the first word and help her understand how is life at the moment,
00:32what are projects looking like and what do you have to say about currently about the state of OTT at the moment?
00:39Oh my God, you really went for it. This is a deep dive already.
00:43Three questions.
00:44I know.
00:45How should I start?
00:46About how is OTT treating you at the moment? What a time it is.
00:50I think OTT is treating everybody better than all the other mediums at the moment.
00:54So, no complaints, getting to do some interesting stuff.
00:58We had a release this year together called
01:02So, you know, as long as interesting subjects come my way and they get timely releases, things are okay.
01:10At the moment, how are you feeling, Sohail?
01:12Amazing.
01:13Amazing.
01:14It's very big.
01:15I am in Delhi.
01:16And for today's sake, we watched it on TV.
01:20And India today is a conclave.
01:22I am a big fan of India today.
01:25I am a big fan.
01:26I am a big fan of Kamal's artists.
01:27I am a big fan of Kamal's artists.
01:28I am a big fan of Kamal's artists.
01:29I am a big fan of Kamal's artists.
01:30I am a big fan of Kamal's artists.
01:31So, I am very good.
01:32How lovely.
01:33So, Sohail, today we have our family here.
01:35Let me just say a quick hello and welcome to all of them as well.
01:38Huge round of applause, please.
01:40Yeah.
01:41Quite a proud moment, Sohail.
01:42You are back in Delhi.
01:44Back on Sahit Te Aaj, back on stage with new releases.
01:47And you have got your own, sort of, such a massive following even in the family.
01:52Blessings.
01:53I mean...
01:54Gratitude.
01:55I mean, I don't know, it seems very cliche.
01:58But actually, I am extremely grateful.
02:01Because when you are an outsider and you want to make it big in an industry which is just alien to you.
02:08When I told you to be an actor, my father said, how do we do it?
02:13So, we didn't have any idea.
02:15I went to FTI to study acting.
02:18And then, wanted to try my luck in Bombay.
02:21And it just happened.
02:22And now, I am here.
02:23And you know, when you are talking about my work.
02:26And I have to pinch myself, if there is an accomplishment.
02:29Okay.
02:30Okay.
02:31I am here.
02:32So, I have to keep reminding myself.
02:33Because I am the only girl who was in Delhi with a dream.
02:37And now, I feel like the dream has happened.
02:40So, this is the rest.
02:41That is the rest.
02:42But apparently, you didn't tell me when you were applying for the course.
02:46No.
02:47What was that story like?
02:48When I got my result and I got my all India rank was 2.
02:55And I topped in the men's section.
02:58I topped the audition round.
03:01And then, I told myself that I was going to be top.
03:04And then, I thought that I was serious.
03:06And then, I would say that I would be a good actor.
03:09Yes, I would be a good actor.
03:10So, I would be a good actor.
03:11So...
03:12But, Sohail studied acting.
03:13Unlike Kritika, who studied fashion.
03:16That's how it started, right?
03:17Not even.
03:18Like, what's the story there?
03:19Not even.
03:20I dropped out.
03:21I was also in Delhi.
03:22NIF Delhi.
03:23But, I dropped after one semester.
03:26Because, somebody auditioned me outside the college.
03:28And that's how I got my first part.
03:30Like, first role.
03:31So...
03:32I quickly want to say.
03:33Sohail di, it's our family here.
03:35And I am missing my family.
03:36So, I want to say a quick hi to my family also.
03:38Oh, how sweet.
03:39Who I am sure are watching.
03:40High cameras.
03:41On screen.
03:42Because, like Sohail said.
03:43This is a show that everybody in my house also watches.
03:46And, my father has been watching everything so far.
03:49That has happened at Sahitya.
03:51So...
03:52How nice.
03:53How nice.
03:54Yeah, but I didn't train as an actor.
03:55And, I wish I would know that I want to become an actor.
04:00And, this is my calling.
04:01It happened accidentally in my case.
04:04But, if I know.
04:06Then, I also give some entrance exams.
04:09You are also going to NIFT.
04:10It's a very difficult entrance exam.
04:12This is very difficult entrance exam.
04:13This is the first time.
04:14It was very dark.
04:15With faculty.
04:16And, with people.
04:18They said.
04:19They're doing a seat waste.
04:20You're going to Mumbai.
04:22What do you think?
04:23Everyone becomes a heroine.
04:24So...
04:25A life is made.
04:27If they don't live for dreams.
04:29Then what's going on?
04:30Correct.
04:31And, I also think that age is like.
04:32When you're 18 years old.
04:33You think everything is possible.
04:35Right.
04:36You know.
04:37There is a certain bravado.
04:38That you have at that age.
04:40Where you're able to take those risks.
04:42And, I'm so glad I took it.
04:44But, you also come from a family of doctors.
04:47And, teachers.
04:48Your parents.
04:49So, I'm sure convincing.
04:50And, taking even the dream of being an actor home.
04:54Going home.
04:55To tell my parents.
04:56That, I have had admission.
04:57But, I have to act.
04:58That wasn't easy.
04:59Right?
05:00It was.
05:01In my case.
05:02Because, my parents are very supportive.
05:04They've never said no.
05:05To anything.
05:06To anything.
05:07And, before that.
05:08And, I quit that.
05:09And, I quit that.
05:10I didn't.
05:11That life was not for me.
05:12It was quite depressing.
05:13To be honest.
05:14To be honest.
05:15Toh, when I left science.
05:16To my home.
05:17To be disappointed.
05:18And, I went towards art.
05:19And, I quit that.
05:20I didn't.
05:21That life was not for me.
05:22It was quite depressing.
05:23To be honest.
05:24Toh, when I left science.
05:25To my home.
05:26Already, everyone was disappointed.
05:27And, that's what I went towards art.
05:28And, that's what I went towards fashion.
05:29Hold on.
05:30Science.
05:31Hold on.
05:32Science.
05:33Chhodi.
05:34Then, fashion.
05:35To ultimately find acting.
05:36Yeah.
05:37Wow.
05:38And, parents were supportive throughout.
05:39They were.
05:40Lovely.
05:41And, also again.
05:42I'm from a really small town in Madhapradesh.
05:43There.
05:44You know.
05:45You know.
05:46This.
05:47You know.
05:48This.
05:49You know.
05:50This.
05:51You know.
05:52You know.
05:53You don't even know.
05:54Like.
05:55He was saying.
05:56Like.
05:57How do you.
05:58How do you.
05:59Like.
06:00You don't know anything about it.
06:02I didn't even know there were institutes.
06:03And, that's stupid on my part.
06:04I had to research on my part.
06:05But.
06:06Yeah.
06:07It was never an option.
06:08It was that.
06:09Doctor.
06:10Engineer.
06:11Generally.
06:12But.
06:13And.
06:14How quickly has life changed.
06:15Right.
06:16In just a matter of.
06:17Ten years.
06:18Agar ap.
06:19Aaj ke.
06:20Zamanen me.
06:21Kisi se baat kare.
06:22Koi.
06:23Doctor.
06:24Engineer.
06:25Ya real banani hai.
06:26Ya real banani hai.
06:27Ya real banani.
06:28I don't know how you make a career out of it.
06:29Because some people have.
06:30Many people have.
06:31Successfully.
06:32Many people have.
06:33It's an industry.
06:34And it's a very good career.
06:35Yeah.
06:36Bhoat paisa hai.
06:37Or.
06:38Agar apko lagta hai.
06:39Agar apko lagta hai.
06:40Ap bana sakte ho.
06:41Achha content to apko banana chahi hai.
06:43I totally support it.
06:44Yeah.
06:45And you think.
06:46Even actors of your caliber.
06:47Who've.
06:48Now.
06:49Sort of.
06:50Proved their work.
06:51Your body of work.
06:52Sort of.
06:53Speaks for itself.
06:54Abhi bhi.
06:55Aapko ja ke.
06:56Aapko lagta hai.
06:57Social media presence banani padti hai.
06:58Like it's the need of the hour now.
06:59Kritika first.
07:00You know.
07:01I'm a bit conflicted.
07:02Mujhe genuinely nahi pata ki.
07:03What is the right.
07:04Amount.
07:05So.
07:06I just.
07:07I'm instinctive about it.
07:08Jab mera man karta hai.
07:09Toh mein.
07:10Hoti yun available.
07:11On social media.
07:12Announsing ki.
07:13I'm going.
07:14Ya whatever.
07:15So.
07:16He'll see tips Lely.
07:17Jika.
07:18Social media game is very strong.
07:19So it's stopping.
07:20Stop being modest.
07:21It's very very strong.
07:22What's the secret there.
07:23What are you thinking.
07:24Kuch nahi.
07:25Dil ki suno.
07:26Jab jo man kare.
07:27Wo post karo.
07:28Mat socho.
07:29Koyi kya kaheega.
07:30Kyunki jab.
07:31Sapne.
07:32Chace karne ke liye.
07:33Nahi kisi ki sochi.
07:34Mainne kabhi.
07:35Laife me ni socha.
07:36Lok kya kaheenge.
07:37Samaj kya hota hai.
07:38Jo dil mein aya.
07:39Wo karo.
07:40Khud se suche raho.
07:41Abhi nahi to parso ho jayega.
07:42But ho jayega.
07:43That's, that's, you know, calls for a round of applause actually.
07:47That does.
07:48Pritika, can women afford to be this bindas?
07:51I think it comes from a place of privilege sometimes.
07:54It comes from a place of privilege.
07:56And I actually had much of that privilege.
07:58I'll be honest with you.
07:59Like I was saying, my parents were very supportive.
08:01Mujhe mere bhaai ko.
08:02Kabhi bhi humare liya alag rules nahi the.
08:04Ghar pe.
08:05Hame jis tanah se, you know, empower kiya gya to make our own decisions and, and choose our own
08:10paths.
08:11That itself is a huge privilege.
08:13And it was very stark in my case.
08:15Kyunki meri aas paas jo meri jayase class mein loog thai ya aas paas jo friends thihin.
08:19Unke paas wo privilege nahi thi most of the time.
08:22So, ye toh hai.
08:24But I'm hoping that this is getting better.
08:26And like Suhail was saying, you know, the good thing with social media is, I know we
08:29all kind of sometimes don't take it seriously.
08:32But ye toh hai ki bohat agar aap mein talent hai.
08:35I keep discovering such talented people on Instagram.
08:38And today you need nothing.
08:40You have a phone.
08:41Agar aap achha gaate hain.
08:42Ya agar aap achha likhte hain.
08:44Ya aap, you know, acting bhi karte hain.
08:46It's so easy to put it out there.
08:48Aur woh ek equal platform hai for everybody.
08:52It's not that hum koi premium pay kar rahe hai us ke li.
08:56You know what I mean?
08:57So, I think that has really changed the game.
09:00And more power to people.
09:02Because we are a country full of really talented people.
09:05More power to people in small towns and places where they cannot just up and go to Bombay.
09:11Bhoot saare loog in nahi kar sake.
09:13And I think what's also changed is the fact that ki sab kahania bhi badal gahi hain.
09:17Ab kahania jo ham dekhte hain.
09:19OTT mein, movies mein, serials mein.
09:21Woh sab, Bombay, Delhi ki kahania nahi hain.
09:23It could be a panchayat.
09:25Aur it could be a gullak.
09:27Aur it could be coming from really like the hinterlands.
09:29And I think that's what's bringing in the richness in characters also.
09:32Richness in storytelling as well.
09:34But go back for me, for instance, both of you once.
09:37To your first project.
09:39And tell me what was that like.
09:41You got a dream start.
09:43Right? Urta Punjab, you couldn't have asked for more.
09:46Tell me, how did you land that role?
09:48And what was happening internally and externally on set?
09:51Urta Punjab, I had auditioned.
09:55And when I was studying lines, I saw Punjabi.
09:59So when I was casting, I said it's a Punjabi film.
10:02They said it's not Hindi film.
10:04But it's Punjab based.
10:05I said, okay, let's go.
10:07And then when I was auditioning for Jussie's role.
10:10I said, Tommy's line is also.
10:12You can take it too.
10:13I said, Tommy is also a cast.
10:14I said, who is Tommy?
10:15I said, Shait Kapoor.
10:16I said, oh, let's test one more.
10:18So I took one more.
10:20And then there were three rounds of auditions.
10:24And then that happened.
10:25I met Abhishek Chawbesar.
10:27And then it was like a dream.
10:29You just came out of the institute.
10:31And I was disappointed that there was nothing from auditions.
10:36Here we all have nepotism here.
10:39But then things happened.
10:41And I think I got lucky.
10:43Yeah.
10:44That I was at the right place at the right time.
10:46So it happened.
10:48In your first answer, you said outsider.
10:51Now you're saying nepotism.
10:52But has that changed for you now?
10:54Do you see now after all these years, it doesn't matter where you come from anymore?
10:59No.
11:00Actually, it never mattered.
11:02Whether you're an outsider or a film family.
11:05It's just one thing.
11:08It's just one thing.
11:09It's just one thing.
11:10It's just one thing.
11:11It's just one thing.
11:12As an audience,
11:13I'm very excited.
11:15When I have to see a mediocre artist.
11:18But in our country,
11:19like Kritika said,
11:20it's so talented.
11:21It's so talented people.
11:23So we need to improve that.
11:25Now, Ranbir Kapoor also comes from a film family.
11:27Aliyah Bhatt also comes from.
11:28But what fabulous actors.
11:30And there are some outsiders
11:31who get good moments.
11:33But I feel that
11:34can be better.
11:36So mediocrity is the problem.
11:38Nepotism is not.
11:39That's a good one.
11:40Kritika, you want to go back to your first day on set.
11:44Where you have put medicine behind, fashion behind.
11:48And now all you have is you and the camera.
11:51And a very new world.
11:52Yeah.
11:53I had no idea what to expect.
11:55It was a TV serial.
11:57Yes.
11:58Yeah.
11:59TV show.
12:00We were shooting in a college.
12:01Sapphaya's in Bombay.
12:02And it was a very big set up for a day of shoot.
12:05It wasn't that there was a scene at home.
12:07Like it was a major establishing shot.
12:10And it was a film.
12:11And in the film.
12:12And the film.
12:13The film.
12:14And the film.
12:15And the film.
12:16And the film.
12:17And the film.
12:18And the film.
12:19So I was mesmerized by it.
12:20And I instantly.
I was mesmerized by it and I instantly, I was so curious and I am still so curious,
12:32कि वो from day one I think I realized that I am very interested in this world
12:36and not because it makes you a star and fame and all that is great,
I want to get to the bottom of this.
12:47and I think you were asking me in the beginning कि what is it that keeps you going,
12:55I genuinely think that making movies is making magic.
13:01I swear, I second that,
13:04and I know कि delusional sound करते होंगे शायद हम लोग,
13:10screen पे, just being a part of that process is enough for me.
13:16and that's what gets me, you know, going and keeps me excited
13:21and I wake up and go to shoot for that feeling again.
13:25Wow, that's quite nice.
13:26So you're saying it's not about how good, bad, ugly the performance of the show or the series really comes out.
13:33किते लोगो ने लेखा, क्या फीदबगा रा, that's really not it.
13:36As an artist, you feel like if you are satisfied and if you had fun, that's all.
13:40Is that, am I getting that right?
13:42I'm never satisfied and I wish I could do everything all over again.
13:46But yeah, I think a lot of my happiness comes from the experience of shooting.
13:54Then of course you want, if you have done something, you want to see four people.
13:58Because you are making it for an audience.
14:01But whether it works or not, what's successful, what's not, that is, I feel, it's still beyond me.
14:08I'm quite an outsider when it comes to those things.
14:10I have never understood this.
14:12How come people like you call yourselves outsiders?
14:15Like, who's an insider then?
14:17As in, like, I don't understand, I don't know the nitty-gritties of business that much and I don't get into it.
14:24Yeah.
14:25Krithika, you've also been very vocal about that TV
14:32And you've also been very vocal about the fact that you prefer OTT.
14:35Tell us why.
14:35Just the quality of writing and the kind of people that I've got to work with on OTT.
14:41Sohail, sitting right here.
14:43You know, everybody.
14:44Like, not just cast, but also crew, filmmakers.
14:47I think that experience has been much richer.
14:51And has challenged me.
14:52And, you know, you feel like you're saturated, you've played everything.
15:05The things that are written in the last minute.
15:07So just to be able to work with a hardbound script and with the sensibilities of film,
15:14but to get to play a character for about 10 episodes, which gives you enough to, like, dig into it,
15:19I think is the sweet spot for me.
15:21Yeah, OTT is that sweet spot.
15:22Same for you?
15:23Or do you think still films sort of...
15:25I mean, films, OTT, I mean, acting is the same.
15:29That medium, something like that.
15:31I don't think that if I'm playing a theater, I'll be playing a theater.
15:33So my acting will be different.
15:35Projection can be different.
15:37But OTT's advantage is that, as Kritika said, we can explore a lot of layers of characters.
15:42And I'm very happy with that.
15:44Because that's the fun of acting.
15:47We're playing a character.
15:49We're playing a character.
15:50That there's no preparation for us.
15:55So that's fun.
15:56We've got a lot of fun in OTT and in films.
15:59I've done TV, but the critics are saying, they're saying it right.
16:08Like, I don't think actors tune themselves into, it's just
16:18but genuinely the craft of acting does not really like change.
16:23I don't think
16:28Yeah, I don't think.
16:29It doesn't, it doesn't work like that.
16:30I don't think it works like that.
16:31Funny expression.
16:32You have to be genuine.
16:33Yeah.
16:34Right.
16:35You guys have worked on one project together, right?
16:40Tell me a little bit about that.
16:41Why don't you tell us about how Kritika was on set,
16:44and then I'll reverse.
16:45Amazing.
16:46We had one scene together.
16:47We had one scene together.
16:48We had one scene together.
16:49We had one scene together.
16:50We had one scene together.
16:51We had one scene together.
16:52Okay.
16:53And I...
16:54Like she was playing a Pakistani journalist.
16:57And she was so apt language-paktiti Kritika.
17:01So that experience in your life was very big.
17:04But when that scene was amazing,
17:05I would say amazing.
17:07Language-paktiti, I can vouch for it.
17:09Because I was doing a little quiz with Kritika earlier,
17:11and she really caught on to the words.
17:13So full marks given.
17:14Thank you.
17:15And how would you like to tell us
17:17about how Sohail was on set?
17:18I have told him in great detail.
17:20He was my favorite performance in the show.
17:22I think I will say that.
17:24I've said it before too.
17:25His performance really moved me.
17:29He had a wonderful arc,
17:31and a lot of that was what he was doing with it.
17:34You know.
17:36Because when we have so big scale shows,
17:39sometimes the shoot is a little haphazard.
17:41And there are many characters.
17:43Sohail's eyes work beautifully.
17:46And he was really honest in that performance.
17:47And I told him that.
17:48When I finished watching,
17:49he was the first person I called actually.
17:50What a sweet answer.
17:51That is so nice.
17:52So I am not saying this because we are sitting over here.
17:53Yeah.
17:54What a sweet answer.
17:55Thank you.
17:56Thank you.
17:57Thank you.
17:58Thank you.
17:59Thank you.
18:00Thank you.
18:01What she started to say is that you said nothing nice.
18:02You said all very obvious things about her.
18:03Very obvious.
18:04Very obvious.
18:05But it's not only.
18:06It's honestly.
18:07It's not that I didn't deserve also.
18:08Let's be honest.
18:09Second take.
18:10Second try.
18:11Let's try again.
18:12Yeah.
18:13I said that this was a Pakistani journalist.
18:14And it was so apt.
18:15Because there was a period of time.
18:16that people would talk to us.
18:17That it was a very obvious thing.
18:18That a lot.
18:19That I didn't deserve also.
18:20One second, one second.
18:21Let's be honest.
18:22Second take.
18:23Second try.
18:24Let's try again.
18:25Yeah.
18:26I said that this was a Pakistani journalist.
18:27And it was so apt.
18:28Because there was a period of time.
18:30So people were talking about how they were dealing with that.
18:33And that's all.
18:34There is a huge deal of language.
18:35Because if you are speaking Fatima.
18:37If you are talking Fatima.
18:38You will win there.
18:40If someone works with such a strong influence.
18:42So I would be a fan of such a strong influence.
18:44Oh nice, nice. On that note,
18:47oh stop it, she is saying. Okay on that note, let's take some questions from the audience
18:52and we'll come to Sohail's family in just a bit. That gentleman at the back, with specs here,
18:56please go ahead. Yeah.
19:03Just say your name, sir, yeah say your name and ask your question.
19:06My name is Sanjay Dikshir.
19:08My question is Kirtika Ji se hai.
19:10I had my schooling in Ashok Nagar, madam.
19:13Sir?
19:48I'm looking forward for matka king I think
19:50filming I think
19:52we've done, we've finished filming
19:54अगले साल, hopefully
19:56thank you so much
20:02but I had, my father का job था वहाँ पर
20:05thank you sir for coming here
20:18and thank you for that
20:20sharing of experience as well
20:22this lady here in the front please
20:24hello Krithika ma'am
20:28first of all huge fan
20:29I just wanna say that thank you for making
20:32all of our childhood so special
20:34and you will always be Dr. Nidhi for me
20:36oh so sweet, thank you
20:38so initiating your career from 2017
20:42from Yaha Ke Ham Sikandar
20:44to now hoping with Rajkumar Rao and Bheer
20:47like we have all come a long way with you
20:50so my question is that
20:52you are always very vocal about things
20:55and recently you were
20:56like TV industry actors face a lot of
21:00biasness in the film industry
21:02so what's your take on that
21:04is it really
21:05and also do you find a course of conflict
21:08in the script in TV industry
21:10and Bollywood industry
21:11as we find that TV industry script
21:14are normally more misogynistic
21:16and more
21:17yeah so do you also feel like that
21:19I don't think misogyny is limited to any one medium
21:23I think there are certain things on all mediums that
21:27can sort of be blamed for not a great depiction of women
21:32so sirf ye kehna ki television is
21:36and I don't think
21:37I mean also ye bhoat generalize karna ho jayega
21:40but I think that
21:41the time when I quit television
21:43I felt that it wasn't progressive enough
21:45and I think that
21:48because kyunki abhi bhi OTT par
21:50we are not dictated by TRPs
21:53although we now have views and everything
21:55but there are still
21:55more chances being taken there
21:58so you see like stories
22:00that would not have been made for television
22:02or even for the big screen
22:04and you definitely wouldn't see actors like us
22:06be part of them
22:07if they were for the big screen
22:09so that's the difference between the two
22:12I'm sorry you would ask me something else also
22:15yes you recently you were very outspoken about
22:18that the amount of biasness TV industry
22:21TV industry actors face on Bollywood
22:24I don't know about recently
22:26see I'll tell you what
22:27I have been working on OTT for the past few years now
22:30so things have changed for me
22:33and I feel that
22:35there is no
22:37I must have spoken about this
22:39but I think we keep talking about the biases
22:41but there is nothing that can be done
22:43I think the best thing to do is
22:45like audition and prove yourself
22:46work speaks louder than
22:48you know words
22:50and so that's what I am trying to do
22:53slowly and steadily
22:54maybe trying to like
22:55you know
22:57explore my own range
22:59and figure out myself
23:01before proving it to other people
23:02thank you for all your contribution
23:07thank you for your kind words
23:08how sweet
23:08okay
23:09that
23:10yeah

24:51said
24:51that

24:52with Rishikapur Ji

25:07that Rishikapur Ji

29:35Yeah, hi, Swail. Hi, Kritika.
29:36Hello.
29:36First of all, obviously,
29:38you guys have really raised the tempo of,
29:40you know, you spoke about dreams
29:41and Kritika coming from
29:43especially a non-acting background
29:44and, you know, you guys are doing it.
29:46I think a lot of people
29:47have been motivated.
29:48Sir, just hold on.
29:49Just hold on with your question.
29:50I'm just trying to give her a moment.

31:05What a moment, yaar.
31:15Taliyah.
31:15What a moment.
31:16What a moment.
31:19What a moment.
31:20Yeah.
31:21So sweet.
31:23I think it's moments like these that makes events like these so special.
31:27It makes, it warms our hearts and it sort of really warms.
31:32Oh, God.
31:36Kritika, are you feeling as overwhelmed as all of us, ah?
31:40Yeah.
31:41Yeah?
31:41She really is trembling.
31:43Yeah, she really is.
31:44Tell me what's going on in your mind.
31:46I don't know.
31:49I don't think I've done anything to deserve so much love, honestly.
31:53Okay.
31:54I don't know.
31:56So sweet.
31:56Okay.
31:57Sir, please go ahead with the question.
31:59Sir, Suhil Vishal here.
32:01So,
32:01as a professional, I am a banker otherwise, but connected with theater for long as a passion.
32:14So, my simple question to both of you is that, ah, what is the dream role you really
32:19feel that, you know, you should be doing?
32:21Because, see, you get to, I mean, the role which you played in Urta Paja was like, you
32:25don't, you don't, ah, dream such kind of a dream because, you know, that was a very,
32:29ah, very commoner kind of a role, but the way you displayed it was like, I mean, I still
32:34remember the, the way you look into the eyes of Shahid and ask, paaji hai kya honi ho sakda hai,
32:38you know?
32:39So, I think, but when you go for a role, I mean, is there a dream role which you have in your
32:43mind both of you which you would like to really?
32:46Sir?
32:46The dream role is my type that either make me a musician or a serial killer.
33:24difficult भी है क्योंकि especially in the
33:26film OTT space I think
33:36कि इस वख हमें अगला step should be
33:38just better written
33:40women characters
33:48because I feel
33:50that a lot of in our
33:52commercial stuff a lot of times
33:54a lot of the times women
33:56are just reduced to like
33:58you know to their relationship
34:00to the male actor
34:01or to be like a device
34:04in the plot or a prop
34:06you know in the story
34:07I agree
34:08so I think थोड़ा और central
34:10part
34:16you know a hero journey
34:18not even a hero
34:19like a journey
34:20an evolution
34:33debatable sir
34:34I would say
34:37I agree, I agree
34:38I think that calls for a separate debate
34:40on dhraupati
34:41if that happens
34:42but that hasn't changed
34:43Kritika
34:44of late we've been seeing
34:45a lot of women-centric characters
34:47a lot of women-centric movies
34:48as well come out
34:49where?
34:52how many?
34:53seriously though
34:54I feel like the woman
34:55is the object of
34:56desire
34:57or conflict
34:58or
34:59you know
34:59so I'm not saying
35:02but
35:03as a subject
35:05या as
35:06जिसका point of view
35:12of course there are some brilliant things
35:14like recently
35:14Delhi Crime, Maharani
35:17films maybe
35:18you know
35:19I think in mainstream cinema
35:21in Bollywood
35:22English to English
35:23changed that for me personally
35:24as a viewer
35:24for the first time
35:26I saw a perspective
35:27of a homemaker
35:28come out so beautifully
35:30it really changed
35:31I remember
35:31that was one of those movies
35:33where we took our mothers
35:33to go and watch
35:34that see
35:35you know
35:35this is what we keep telling you
35:36and now it's been portrayed
35:37but you're saying
35:38more of that needs to be done
35:39yes
35:40I just feel like
35:40more layered
35:41like Suhail was saying
35:42because again
35:43we fall into these stereotypes
35:44you know
35:48you know
35:49if she's strong
35:52she has to be more masculine
35:53if she's
35:54too smart
35:56she has to be the villain
35:58or you know
35:59if she's too educated
36:00then she's definitely
36:01not a good homemaker
36:06even in the love story
36:07we always see the chase
36:08we see कि
36:09what attracted the man
36:11we don't really see
36:12why she reciprocated
36:14or what happened
36:15it's just always
36:21the girl will give in
36:22and be flattered by
36:24by the effort that's put in
36:25but you never really see
36:27the inner life of a woman
36:28or just the thoughts of a woman
37:25So, you should serve more of that.
37:26Then you want to go back to saying that movies may,
37:30because women, you know, fan following is such that you have to,
37:34you know, make the male character shine out in a different way.
37:37But I don't think that's true.
37:38That's why I'm saying that I don't think that happens anymore.
37:41And I think the audience is much more mature now.
37:45They understand the nuance and they're wanting for something different.
37:49No, it's the beginning. I realized this when Lagana came in 2000.
37:55Before that, there was no film in cricket, there was no sports film in India.
37:59A mainstream actor, I mean, the maximum of the film is in English and in Bhojpuri.
38:06Bhojpuri, which they used.
38:09There are so many risks.
38:10There are so many actors who watch junior actors, they get the main parts.
38:16And Lagana worked wonders.
38:18And it was like that when Gangs of Aasipur came in Gangster films,
38:22it didn't make the same gangster films like that.
38:23People didn't accept this language in mainstream.
38:26But it's like that.
38:27And the audience liked it.
38:28La Pata ladies.
38:29Incredible movie.
38:30Incredible film.
38:31And I'm saying, of course, we need more female-centric stories.
38:34But beyond that,
38:37there's no story that can be made without a woman.
38:41But somehow, we make films and shows.
38:43You know, like there are genres that you talk about,
38:45I mean, especially on OTT, you see a lot of like investigative,
38:49investigative,
38:50crime dramas and, you know, thrillers and investigative thrillers.
38:55In either you can become a cop or you can become a gangster,
39:00I have done both.
39:01I have done both.
39:02Okay?
39:02And you have become a journalist.
39:03You have been made.
39:03I have covered it also.
39:05But I'm just saying,
39:05that by those roles,
39:07they define them.
39:08But I still feel that they can be more layered.
39:11And even if it is,
39:13if it's Sohail's story also,
39:15why should the woman in that story
39:17not be a layered, complete character?
39:20It could still be about his life,
39:21for example.
39:22But her story may
39:24ortoh kaise dikha jara hai
39:25asko thoda
39:26and I think we do.
39:27You're right.
39:28Cheezhe change hui hai.
39:29Hum, we take like a big stride ahead
39:32and then phir kuch aata hai
39:33aur phir hum chaar step piche jale jate hai.
39:35One step forward, two step back.
39:37Yeah, all right.
39:38Let's take some more audience questions.
39:40Yeah, this lady in the front.
39:42Hi, Kritika.
39:42This is for you.
39:43Hi.
39:44Actually,
39:44I've been admiring you
39:46since like my DPS days.
39:47You belong to
39:48Delhi Public School Society.
39:49I mean, I belong to DPSRK Puru.
39:53So, you are much more discussed
39:55within our group.
39:56You made us proud, obviously,
39:58as Delhi School students.
40:00That's a big deal, guys.
40:01Buhut sari sections hote hai hai.
40:02Aur buhut sari log hai.
40:04So, being a fan of yours,
40:05can I have a please pick with you?
40:07Of course.
40:08Thank you so much.
40:09Should I come?
40:11Yeah.
40:11Quickly, quickly,
40:12very quickly we come.
40:13Yes.
40:15Run from that side.
40:16Yeah, very quickly.
40:19I love how Kritika has
40:21so many women fans as well.
40:22You're clearly like…
40:23Girl's girl.
40:24You're a girl's girl.
40:25You're a woman's woman.
40:27Okay.
40:27Okay, great.
40:29Last few questions
40:30and then we'll wrap up over there.
40:32Yeah, yeah.
40:33That guy at the back with specs.
40:35Hi, I am Shayan and I am from Tripura.
40:44So, basically, at first I used to write poems,
40:46I used to write plots.
40:48Then I have shifted myself into doing a bit of drama.
40:51Then I do…
40:52Like, my question is that how to be the debut
40:55or how to enter in the mainstream of this thing?
40:58Which thing exactly?
41:01You can say first acting or like in the creative field
41:05or in the creative direction of the team.
41:08Two ways.
41:09One is you do audition or then reels.
41:12No, first pick.
41:13What do you want to do?
41:14Do you want to pursue writing or acting?
41:16You'll have to pick one discipline and then…
41:19I have first started writing
41:21but now I can see that acting
41:23and this kind of fields also interest me a lot.
41:27Bhai, I'll give you the best suggestion.
41:29You should write poetry or whatever your writing is.
41:32You start to narrate it on Instagram.
41:35Instagram is a great platform.
41:37You narrate it.
41:38Put some artistic music behind it.
41:40What is your vibe?
41:41You'll follow it.
41:42Things will happen.
41:44Thank you.
41:44Thank you so much.
41:46Okay, okay.
41:47That lady over there.
41:48Good idea.
41:48No, also, karte-karte, you'll also jala.
41:52Ah, either, either.
41:52The one in the red scarf.
41:54The one in the red scarf, yeah.
41:58Hello everyone.
41:59My name is Anjali Tiwari.
42:01I'm a student of journalism and mass communication.
42:04And I want to tell you that I have a serial
42:07that you have made a reporter
42:08in which you have been a journalist's field.
42:12And that time I was a very big fan of yours.
42:14And I have a lot of great fan of yours.
42:16Were you even born then?
42:18Ma'am, I've seen my sony lips.
42:19She's so kind.
42:21Okay, look at my sony lips.
42:22Yes, ma'am.
42:22And ma'am, your doctor's role is a very favorite.
42:26You weren't born then.
42:28Thank you so much, ma'am.
42:30Thank you so much.
42:31The lady behind who had a question.
42:33Ma'am, can I have one picture with you, please, ma'am?
42:35After the interaction now.
42:37After the interaction.
42:37After Google, we'll click the picture.
42:39Okay, okay.
42:41The one behind who had a question.
42:42Yeah.
42:43Hello, ma'am.
42:44Myself, Ashna.
42:45And I'm also a journalist
42:47and a mass communication student.
42:49I want to ask you both that
42:51why do you choose the roles
42:53that challenge you creatively?
42:55Why do you choose the roles?
42:58Okay, okay.
42:59Why do you choose?
43:00Why do you choose?
43:01How is this?
43:02How is this?
43:02How is this?
43:02How is this?
43:04It's fun.
43:06What is this that is fun?
43:08Like, there are some roles that are normal roles.
43:12No, there are normal roles that are also.
43:15As you said, you're a serial killer role.
43:18That's my dream role.
43:19Dream role.
43:19So why is this?
43:20Thank you.
43:20Because I feel like
43:22whatever we see,
43:24like if we talk about the spy,
43:26if you've seen everything from the good place,
43:29within the way we've tried to do it,
43:31those things are less attempt to do it.
43:33You can be humanized.
43:34You can be more concentrated on the emotions.
43:37The country is a very good thing.
43:39It was in our characters.
43:40But those people who are actually,
43:41they're not so on your face.
43:45They're so much emotional.
43:46They're so excited to be able to do it.
43:48So those things to explore,
43:49when you get a chance,
43:50it's very rare.
43:51So you'll try to get such things.
43:55Because acting is a kind of character study.
43:57It's like watching a great film
43:59or reading a great book.
44:00If you're very immersed in any experience,
44:04then when you're trying to imagine something,
44:06or challenge you,
44:08when you test your limits anywhere,
44:09actually,
44:10whether it's the gym,
44:11you physically test it,
44:13in any sport,
44:14in any other thing.
44:15So when things get tough,
44:18and you overcome that,
44:19or you win at something,
44:21you feel good about yourself.
44:22I think that's what we're all chasing,
44:24right?
44:25In life.
44:25So we make our obstacles,
44:26and then cross them,
44:29and test them our limits.
44:31We grow.
44:32So to be able to grow,
44:33it's important to challenge yourself,
44:36like you will in your career as well,
44:38you know,
44:38and it's really meaningful and satisfying.
44:42Okay, great.
44:43Can we have a photo with you?
44:44After,
44:45after the session,
44:45we'll do a couple of pictures after the session.
44:47Last few questions.
44:48Yeah,
44:48this lady here.
44:49Hello, everyone.
44:56My name is Gyanvi,
44:58and
44:58Kritika Mama,
44:59bhoat khubbsourat lag raha ho aaj.
45:01Well, thanks.
45:01Simple,
45:02but elegant,
45:03bhoat khubbsourat.
45:04But,
45:04yaha pe,
45:05jese bhoat sare loog hai,
45:06aapko bhoat admire karte hai,
45:08par meera question ye hai ki,
45:10Kritika,
45:11kis ko admire karte hai,
45:12unki koon se favorite film hai?
45:14Hmm,
45:14interesting.
45:16Interesting.
45:16Very tough.
45:18You are a good question.
45:19Very,
45:19very,
45:20very good question.
45:23Mainai over the years realize ki hai ki main,
45:26bhoat sare loogon ki,
45:28matlab,
45:29there are qualities in many people that I admire.
45:32And,
45:33I think it's better that way.
45:34I don't,
45:35you know,
45:36that's why I,
45:37I also felt this abhi,
45:38ki itna mujhe piyar mil raha hai,
45:41but maybe I don't deserve.
45:43Nahi ye to diplomatic answer.
45:45I'm seriously saying that I feel like,
45:47why do we need to choose heroes?
45:49I don't think we need to choose people.
45:53We can find inspiration in what somebody does,
45:56chahe wohonka kaam ho,
45:57ya wo jese insaan ho,
45:58ya wo jitne sachche ho,
45:59ya wo jese dousroongi madad karte ho.
46:02Idealization culture ke baare mein baat karriya.
46:05Yeah,
46:05I just,
46:06yeah,
46:06I just feel,
46:07and not to,
46:08like I am very grateful for the love that I get,
46:10but,
46:11uh,
46:11uh,
46:12mujhe asa lagta hai ki,
46:14kyunki koi bhi perfect nahi hota,
46:16to it's,
46:17kind of like,
46:18better to,
46:19like,
46:19take the best from people,
46:21and admire that in them,
46:23and,
46:23then,
46:24make your own little,
46:25recipe.
46:26Ma'am,
46:26but I am your big fan,
46:28because,
46:28ma'am jab kamariya suni,
46:30ma'am aaj bhi jab sunti hun,
46:31to khadi ho jati hun,
46:32bas dance karni ke liye.
46:34Aray,
46:34ab kamariya ki baat ho rhi hai,
46:36to bhai,
46:37let's,
46:37uh,
46:37play the song?
46:38Yeah.
46:38Mujhe koi step nahi yad hai.
46:40Why not?
46:41Why not?
46:42It may look like I'm wearing,
46:44yeah,
46:44you're totally desperate,
46:46and,
46:47ab aapko yad hai ki nahi,
46:48ye test ho jayega.
46:50Yeah?
46:50I really don't remember,
46:51I have no idea,
46:53if you even have the song,
46:54I'm just asking,
46:55if you have the song.
46:57Oh man,
46:58come on Siddhika,
47:00come on.
47:00What are you doing?
47:02You have to,
47:03we have to,
47:05let me,
47:05let me,
47:06let me see the other people.

48:06Hey, Jalave,
48:07Ramp about me.
48:08That is so sweet.
48:10I could not remember.
48:11Have you lived your dream today?
48:13You've managed to live your dream?
48:15Genuinely,
48:16I feel grateful
48:17because he doesn't expect me to perform here and perform with the ma'am.
48:21So I feel grateful about it.
48:25Thank you so much.
48:26She's also shaking.
48:27Kritika, what are you doing?
48:28What are you doing to your audience?
48:30Okay, that was really nice and really sport of Sohail also to sort of join in.
48:34But we have another song for Sohail.
48:36I have been told that there is a song ready for Sohail. Do I have the song ready for Sohail?
48:44Which one? Who's that doing who at the back? Which one? Come on.
48:50Can I give that gentleman a mic please?
48:56Yeah, yeah.
48:59Oh, so I'll make, I'll make a request then.
49:02How about me please?
49:03How about you doing dance?
49:04You didn't have to dance before.
49:05Huh?
49:06Like the music.
49:07Like the music.
49:08Like the music.
49:09Like the music.
49:10Like the spirit.
49:11Something has happened.
49:12Something has changed right after.
49:13I'm told we have the song ready.
49:15Do we?
49:16Like the music.
49:17And it's...
49:26Oh.
49:27This is a twist on what song this is.
49:30What song it is?
49:31Like the music.
49:32I love it.
49:33This is a twist on what song this is.
49:34What song this is?
49:40Woohoo!

50:51my producers will kill me
50:55I'm throwing like bombs at them
50:57they will kill me
50:59but if that preps up
51:00I think we have time for one question
51:02this gentleman over here
51:04question very quick
51:05can we get his mic up
51:12in case of your dance
51:14your dance will do
51:15I can take back my question
51:16you can dance on the Iqbal Kachina
51:18oh god
51:18we'll prep that
51:19in the main while
51:22while probably he's preparing that Iqbal Kachina
51:24I didn't have any question
51:28but Sohail I really like the thought
51:29you just talked about
51:30that people who have patriotism
51:33are not so much into the face
51:35so my suggestion or conversation
51:38is about both of you
51:39I've heard you about the multi-layers
51:41of the women characters
51:42so I'm serving
51:44Indian Air Force fighter pilot
51:46and no no thank you
51:49you don't need to do that
51:50the point here is
51:51which I wanted to discuss
51:52that this over the top patriotism
51:55is something even we don't relate
51:57when we watch it
51:58the way Kritika decided
52:00and spoke about the multi-layers
52:02of emotion for the women characters
52:04I think you guys
52:05since you are in that field
52:06and I'm sure you would be interacting
52:07with many writers and all
52:09probably when this thing
52:10should be discussed
52:11that even we soldiers
52:12officers who are fighting
52:14and dying
52:14we are also deep down
52:16a human
52:16with multiple layers
52:18just because we decided
52:20to do what we do
52:21it doesn't mean
52:22only one of the two thing
52:23that either we are taking
52:24that Shutti
52:25that Mathura Das
52:26or you are ready to die
52:27for the country
52:27the life goes between
52:29these two extremes
52:30and those could be
52:32very well explored
52:33by the great writers
52:34that's my sense
52:34what is your favorite film
52:36of this genre
52:37based on your work in life
52:40I would say genres like
52:42though the movie
52:43did not do
52:44very successfully
52:45commercially
52:46but among the Indian movies
52:47the fighter movie
52:49has narrated
52:49very nice
52:50basic nuances
52:51of our life
52:52the way they have gone
52:54fighter of Hrithik Roshan
52:56the way they have gone
52:57about
52:57the day-to-day intricacies
52:59the emotions he goes through
53:01when he is removed
53:01out of the flying and all
53:02so that became very close to me
53:04among the Indian movies
53:05otherwise Top Gun
53:06if you see
53:06actually it depicts
53:07the actual aerial things
53:08what we do in here
53:09these two movies
53:10are very close
53:11so yeah
53:12that's the suggestion
53:13that probably someone
53:14should think about
53:15writing multiple layers
53:16of us
53:17rather than showing us
53:18someone who is just
53:19ready to die or kill
53:20the life goes
53:21in between these two
53:21I am so glad
53:22to hear this
53:23from a person
53:24in uniform
53:25I mean
53:26a request like this
53:27coming from people
53:28like you
53:28I think means a lot
53:29and we really hope
53:30your voice is reaching
53:31those who are writing
53:32these stories
53:33and we really hope
53:33because we would love
53:34to watch stuff like that
53:35definitely
53:35and that's the truth
53:36of audience
53:37yes
53:37yes
53:37that's what they want
53:38to see
53:38and when it comes
53:39from you
53:39it's really powerful
53:40so through this medium
53:41I hope
53:41that you have
53:42actually writers
53:44producers
53:44directors
53:45because we would
53:46also really
53:47really like that
53:47and would love
53:48to be a part
53:49of something
53:49that is
53:50closer to
53:50reality
53:51you know
53:53like Bhagat Singh
53:54I don't know
53:55as it has been
53:56depicted
53:56he's the one
53:57person who's ready
53:57with the gun
53:58but if you read
53:59about the Bhagat Singh
54:00the killing happened
54:01very end of his life
54:03he was a man
54:03probably one of the
54:04most literate man
54:05that time
54:05he used to read
54:0730-32 books
54:08within a month
54:09no one talks about it
54:10we show
54:10Bhagat Singh ready to kill
54:11that's the basic
54:12concept which I want
54:13to discuss
54:14think about it
54:15explore the whole
54:16narrative of the
54:17soldier's life
54:17and it will be
54:18amazing storytelling
54:19for you
54:19and you will have
54:20a hell lot of
54:21audience who are
54:21waiting for it
54:22probably
54:22lovely lovely
54:24but talking about
54:24manifestation
54:25you guys want to
54:26talk about some
54:26movies that you
54:27want to really
54:28really do
54:29stories that you
54:30want to depict
54:30because I must say
54:31I must take this
54:33moment to recognize
54:34that here in these
54:35past three days
54:36also that we've
54:37been interacting
54:37with so many
54:38OTT stars
54:38it is such a
54:40breath of fresh air
54:41to watch the two
54:41of you really
54:42speak your heart
54:43huge round of
54:44applause for them
54:44I must say
54:46for them to speak
54:47their heart out
54:48to say something
54:50and to stand for
54:50something that really
54:51matters it's rare
54:52guys
54:53absolutely
54:53thank you
54:53thank you both of
54:54you I have not
54:55seen someone being
54:55so upfront for
54:56your intimacy
54:57which is known to
54:58be very biased
54:59and non-biased
55:00I'll talk to
55:01both of you
55:01thank you so much
55:02and as one thing
55:03is the song
56:02What a spot ya, you guys. What a spot. Sohail, well, well done. What a spot. What a spot.
56:13How do you remember all the steps ya, right?
56:16Too much.
56:19Okay, too many hands are going up. I will take last two questions if I'm permitted.
56:25Okay, I'm told, no one will be, so you'll get one question.
56:28Okay, who's gonna do it? Who's gonna do it?
56:30Okay, this gentleman over here.
56:32Very quickly, very quickly.
56:35I'm very upset about this.
56:37Hello, sir. Suhail, sir.
56:39Hello, hello.
56:39I'm Anurag Saksena, owner of Vistar Publishers.
56:43Sir, I like your job in life, sir. Just beat.
56:47Sir, it's like that all time, sir, when you do it, if you're off, look at it, it's very good.
56:55And I asked you, did you get made? Good?
56:58No, sir, I'm doing my job.
57:02Oh, sir.
57:04Sir, the scene, sir, the made bottle, it was so good, and it was so creatively done.
57:10Sir, sir, and your acting was very good, sir.
57:13Thank you so much.
57:14Thank you.
57:15Thank you.
57:16Thank you.
57:17Thank you.
