00:45Now I have a red handkerchief in my hand. Now I wave it up and down. Do you know why I do that?
00:49No.
00:50You don't? Well I don't either. Right? Now look, we'll place it in the hand like this.
00:55Poke it all the way in. You go ahead and give it a little poke. Poke it in. There you go.
00:59You can take your finger out. You almost broke it off at the same time.
01:03On the count of three, we're going to say the magic words. Tiki Tiki.
01:08You ready? One, two, three.
01:10Tiki Tiki.
01:13Well you know what happened? What?
01:15The egg appears in my hand and it changes from the red handkerchief.
01:19Now, how would I do a trick like that? Well the first thing you'd have to do is what?
01:23Poke it in.
01:25You want to maybe poke it in? Or you'd want to check out the egg, wouldn't you?
01:28Now if you were going to check out the egg, how would you do it?
01:30I'd bite it.
01:31You'd bite it? Well if it was a hard boiled egg, that might be a good thing.
01:35I'd kind of want to look all the way around and if you did, you know what you'd find?
01:38It's hollow. See, you've got the handkerchief inside the egg. Is that me?
01:42So what you do is you take the handkerchief out of the egg, like this, and you hold the egg in the hand so nobody can see it.
01:48Then, you wave it up and down, like this. You poke it in the hand, all the way down into the hand.
01:54And then, when you hold it up, it changes to the what?
01:59Egg.
02:00Now what's the one thing that you don't want to show?
02:03The other side of the egg.
02:05The other side of the egg, right? Because if they saw the other side of the egg, what would they see?
02:10The handkerchief.
02:11The handkerchief sticking out the back.
02:13You know what happens though? Sometimes when I do tricks, people will be actually hiding behind the curtain, Irma.
02:19And what they'll do is, they'll say, hey, I see the little hole in the egg where the handkerchief is.
02:23So you know what I have to do then?
02:24What?
02:25I do this.
02:26I take and I peel off the hole, like this, put it in my pocket, then I take the egg and I crack it open into the glass, like that.
02:36Doesn't Irma get a big hand for that?
02:39There you go.
02:41So, Irma, if you want to find out if some things are trick or not, what do you do?
02:46You check it out, don't you?
02:48Let's give Irma a hand for being a good sport.
02:52Figuring out if something is real and not can be a lot of fun.
02:55Hi, I'm Danny Coram.
02:57If you wanted to find out if this egg is real or not, you probably wouldn't want to bite it like Irma,
03:01but you might want to tap or shake it, or maybe even try to break the shell to see if an egg is really inside.
03:06In other words, you want to check out the facts.
03:09And that's what we're going to learn, how to find out what's real and what isn't, and check it out.
03:14But first, we need to learn what the word illusion means.
03:17An illusion is something that isn't what you think it is when you first see it.
03:21Here are some real good examples.
03:23Imagine that you go in the kitchen and you see an apple on the counter, but when you pick it up, you find it is only half an apple,
03:29because your mother used the other half to bake a pie.
03:32This is one kind of an illusion where nobody tries to trick you.
03:36You were just tricked because you saw the apple from the front.
03:38But as soon as you check it out and turn the apple around, you find it is only half an apple.
03:43Here's another illusion.
03:44Which is the bigger arch?
03:46The one on the top or the one on the bottom?
03:48The correct answer is they're both the same size.
03:50When you hold one arch over the other, the illusion is created that the one on the bottom is bigger.
03:55But when you measure them or simply put one on top of the other, we find it the same size.
04:00So the illusions with the apple and the arches are illusions where what we see can fool us until we check out the facts.
04:06Why? If you've never seen television before, you might think that someone was really in this box we call a TV.
04:12The television picture itself is kind of an illusion.
04:15When you get right next to the picture, we find that it's really made up of about 525 rows of tiny dots that only look like a picture when you move back.
04:24Now there are two different kinds of illusions.
04:26The first kind we've already seen where something fools us until we check it out.
04:30No one tries to trick us, and we're only tricked until we check out the facts.
04:34The second kind of an illusion is where someone tries to trick us like the egg trick.
04:38So it's always important to check out your facts.
04:41My good friend John Criswell checks out the facts every day at work.
04:45The parents of 14-year-old Melissa Snyder are grateful their daughter has been found safe.
04:50The Denton private school student was picked up as a runaway this morning in Mississippi.
04:55Welcome to First News, I'm John Criswell.
04:57John is what is called a news anchor man for a large television station.
05:01He's the fellow that brings us the news each day.
05:03When we watch John, it looks like he has memorized almost everything until we check it out and look it up from John's side of the camera.
05:11From this angle, we see that he is reading from what is called a teleprompter.
05:15When you do the news, it appears that you have everything memorized, and you really don't.
05:19No, we know a lot about what's in a story, but obviously we don't have every word memorized because it's a half hour or one hour newscast.
05:27And keeping it memorized in order would be almost impossible.
05:29So what we rely on is the scripts that you saw me holding during the newscast and what's called a teleprompter.
05:35And this is the teleprompter that we use.
05:38There are several different kinds.
05:39It looks kind of like a TV screen.
05:40That's exactly what it is.
05:41That's a television set, but it's turned on its end so that it's facing up.
05:44And this is a mirror and a prism in the back of the mirror.
05:49And simply what's on this television set, and you'll notice that it's in here backwards, is bounced off that mirror and it's turned around.
05:57As you remember, mirror images are turned around.
05:59And so I see what's on the teleprompter right in the screen.
06:03And the lens of the camera is right here behind the teleprompter.
06:06So I'm looking right through that teleprompter into the lens.
06:09How do you get your facts and information for the stories you have to report on?
06:13It comes from a lot of places.
06:15There are reporters who are out in the field, both local reporters at a local television station and network reporters who are all over the world.
06:23They're responsible for going to people, interviewing them, or just getting information to become part of a story.
06:29There are the wire services, United Press International, Associated Press, and then there are a number of foreign wire services as well that provide information.
06:36When you say wire services, what does that mean?
06:38They're news organizations that simply provide written material on stories to television stations, radio stations, newspapers, and magazines.
06:47By wire services, they used to send that information on telephone wires by teletype, and it comes in on teletype still.
06:55That's why they're called wire services.
06:57Information can come in varieties of ways.
07:01Anonymous callers can call on the telephone and say, here's a tip about a story, here's information.
07:06Somebody that you don't know.
07:08Somebody that you don't know and never will know, perhaps.
07:10It can come from history, from archives of old stories done in previous years.
07:15Many times we as reporters will go back to five or ten years before and pull information out of an original story and use that as background for an updated story on the same subject.
07:28What do you teach your kids is the most important thing in knowing who to trust?
07:33They need to talk to and hear from a large number of people and form their own opinions about what they see and what they hear.
07:39No, it's make up their own mind.
07:40Make up their own minds.
07:42Television doesn't tell you what to think.
07:46Television news tells you how to think and tells you that you should think more about things and learn as much as possible.
07:53Don't just take one person's word or don't just take one television station's word or don't just take one story's word.
08:00What do you do if you make a mistake?
08:02We say, we made a mistake in this story and we sincerely apologize for any harm that may have been done.
08:07We don't have to do that very often, but we've done it and I know we'll do it in the future.
08:12Isn't that just part of being honest?
08:15I think that's a part of being honest.
08:17I think it's a part of also telling people we want your trust and we want you to believe the information that we give you so much that we'll even embarrass ourselves badly when we've made a mistake to let you know that we want you to trust what we say.
08:32It is important that we check out the facts so we can know that what we see and hear is the truth and not just an illusion.
08:39And when we don't know how to check something out, we have to find someone we trust to help us check out the facts.
08:45Now let's check out some of my favorite tricks done close up and without camera tricks.
08:50Now, Bo, as I flip through the cards, I want you to say stop at any card and all the cards are different.
08:56Say stop at any time.
08:58Stop.
08:59Here.
09:00You got your card?
09:01Now, if I told you I could cause your card to leap out of the center of the deck, do four summer circles and land on my left hand.
09:06Amy, would you say that's incredible?
09:08Yeah.
09:09On the count of three, Bo, I want you to name your card.
09:11One, two, three.
09:12Three hearts.
09:13Was that it?
09:16Very good.
09:18Now, when you see a trick like that, everyone wants to know, how do you, you know, how can you do tricks like that?
09:24Well, you first have to learn how to handle a deck of cards, how to manipulate your fingers.
09:29So you learn different types of cuts.
09:31This is a normal cut.
09:32See, like that.
09:33That's a normal cut.
09:34It's called cutting the cards.
09:35This one's a funny cut.
09:36This is called the sandwich cut.
09:38Like that.
09:39The sandwich cut.
09:40I'll do it again.
09:41This is called the roller coaster cut.
09:44Vroom.
09:45The roller coaster cut.
09:47Vroom.
09:48This is another cut.
09:49This is called the swinging door cut.
09:51The swinging door cut.
09:53Matter of fact, I'm going to do the swinging door cut and I want you to say stop at any card.
09:57Stop.
09:58You got it?
09:59You remember the card?
10:00We'll give the deck one, two cuts like this.
10:04And with the swinging door cut, we'll find your card like that.
10:08Is that it?
10:09The nine of diamonds?
10:10Mm-hmm.
10:11Bo gets a big hand for that one.
10:14Annie, let's give you a shot.
10:16Now, this is a more difficult cut.
10:17This one's called the outrageous cut.
10:20Look at that.
10:21The outrageous cut.
10:23Four cuts simultaneously.
10:24Now, I'm going to ask you to think of a card, okay?
10:26As I turn my head, you think of the card.
10:28Say stop at any time.
10:30Stop.
10:31Right there?
10:32Mm-hmm.
10:33Do you remember the card?
10:34Yeah.
10:35Now, using the outrageous cut like this, we're going to find your card like that.
10:39Was that it?
10:40The ten of clubs?
10:41Yeah.
10:42The most difficult cut is a one-hand cut.
10:48Now, that's a simple one-hand cut.
10:50Now, we're going to attempt the most difficult, the one-hand triple cut.
10:55Three cuts simultaneously with just one hand.
10:56How is that?
10:57Now, you ever get straight A's on a report card?
11:10You've had straight A's?
11:11Mm-hmm.
11:12Really?
11:13Have you ever had straight A's?
11:14Yeah.
11:15You guys are geniuses.
11:16You guys are geniuses.
11:17Well, I was going to do a trick with the A's.
11:19You know the A's?
11:20And I'm going to cut to the A's like this.
11:22Remember I did all those crazy cuts?
11:24We'll do some more like this.
11:25I cut one out there.
11:26I cut one out right there and another one right there.
11:29Now, that's three of them.
11:31Three A's like that.
11:33And the last one.
11:34You ready?
11:35Now, this is the most difficult one because I'm going to ask it to come out on its own.
11:39Ready?
11:40Come on out.
11:50How's that, huh?
11:54Yeah.
11:56Now, I'm going to show you how the cards move.
12:00That was kind of weird the way it came out, wasn't it?
12:02I'm going to show you how that's done.
12:04You have four of the A's.
12:06See them?
12:07You have the Ace of Diamonds, the Ace of Hearts, the Clubs, and the Spades.
12:10We'll place three of them right over here.
12:13And I'll place the Ace of Diamonds over here.
12:15Now, you know what I'm going to use?
12:16I'm going to use what they call the invisible palm with the other three.
12:20Watch.
12:21With the other three, we use the invisible palm.
12:23That's right.
12:24Palm the card off invisibly.
12:25See like this?
12:26And then all I have to do is touch it and it appears.
12:29See?
12:30See, so you have two A's over here and you have the two red ones over here.
12:34I'll do it again.
12:35Watch.
12:36One more time.
12:37Palm it off.
12:39Anything there?
12:40No.
12:41Nothing?
12:42Look.
12:43And there goes the third Ace.
12:45Now, that leads us, the Ace of Spades over here and the other three over here.
12:49Now, one more time.
12:50We'll do it one more time.
12:51Now, what I want you to do is hold the cards like that.
12:55Just like that in your hand.
12:56Put your hand up and hold it tight like that.
12:58Just hold it tight.
13:00We had the last Ace in my hand.
13:02Ready?
13:03Watch.
13:04We do like this and it vanishes and it appears in your hand.
13:11Let's give them a hand for that one.
13:13That was a great one.
13:14Each of the tricks you have just seen are what are called an illusion.
13:20A trick.
13:21Now, let's learn some illusions and tricks that you can do.
13:24Illusions can be a lot of fun when you tell people they're tricks.
13:28So, let's learn a couple of illusions that are tricks.
13:30See this half dollar?
13:32Have you ever seen a half dollar fall down?
13:34But have you ever seen one fall up?
13:37Wow.
13:38You know how it'll come?
13:40It's rubber.
13:41Show them, Hanoi.
13:42It's rubber, right?
13:43See how it's rubber?
13:45Actually, it was an illusion.
13:47Now, I can show you the first part how the coin fell up because that's a professional secret.
13:51But I'll show you how I made the coin look like it's rubber because you see it's actually a half a dollar.
13:56Here's what you do.
13:57You hold both sides of the coin like this and then you move your hands back and forth like that.
14:03And it gives the appearance that it's rubber.
14:06Now, Corbin has never tried this trick before and neither has Tracy.
14:10I'm going to let Tracy try it.
14:12Hold the sides like this and move your hands back and forth.
14:16And it looks exactly like it's rubber, doesn't it?
14:18That's a good trick.
14:20Would you hold that for me, Hanoi?
14:21Do you know that you can even make your arms look like they're rubber and you can make them stretch?
14:26Here's what it looks like.
14:27Watch my arms.
14:28Are they the same length?
14:29No.
14:30They're both the same length, right?
14:31Watch.
14:32And this one's starting to stretch.
14:35Oh my gosh.
14:37And then you kind of go pow and it goes back in.
14:40And now the two are the same length.
14:42Now this one's real easy.
14:44You have to have long sleeves on.
14:46What you do is when you put your two hands out like this, you make sure they're even.
14:50Make sure the cuff of your shirt or your blouse is all the way down to your wrist.
14:54Then all you do is you pull on it like this.
14:57You see how it sneaks back up your arm?
14:59And what's happening is your shoulder's turning like this.
15:02See?
15:03The shoulder turns like this.
15:05So it's right here.
15:06You pull on it again.
15:07It looks like it comes out further.
15:09Again, your shoulder moves a little bit more.
15:11And then a little bit more like this.
15:13Then you go pow.
15:14And you say now my arms are both the same length again.
15:18Now Corbin's going to do a trick with something that really is rubber, aren't you Corbin?
15:22Let's go ahead and see your trick with the rubber band.
15:24Okay.
15:25See this real live rubber band?
15:28See how it stretches and twists?
15:30Now watch closely as I break it.
15:32Even though that it's broken, with the magic words,
15:36Aki Aki, we'll put it back together again.
15:39Wow.
15:40That was really great Corbin.
15:42Let's show them how you did the trick.
15:44First you need a medium sized rubber band.
15:46That's a rubber band that's kind of thin.
15:48See?
15:49You don't want a real thick one because it will be too hard to do the trick.
15:51And what you do is you take one tip of the rubber band, one end where the curl is.
15:56See?
15:57The little curl in the rubber band.
15:58See that little curl?
15:59You place it right here where the crease is between the first and second joint of your first finger.
16:05See that little crease?
16:06And you place the rubber band right here and put your thumb on top.
16:10Then you bring it around the top and then hold it in place like that.
16:17Now you take your right hand, slip your fingers underneath the rubber band, and you're ready to go.
16:24And when you pull on it, see how it looks like it's just one piece?
16:28Nobody can see that there are two pieces there.
16:31That's because you've created an illusion.
16:33So then you go ahead and you pull on the rubber band.
16:36And here's the important part.
16:38When you're going to break the rubber band, in other words create the illusion that you're going to break the rubber band.
16:43You pull on it like that.
16:45See how it makes the popping sound?
16:47Listen, listen to the popping sound.
16:48Hear that popping sound?
16:50And you don't want that little piece to leak out over your first finger and thumb, so you let it slip down like that.
16:56So that way they don't see the loop.
16:58Now you put your hand over the rubber band, you say the magic words,
17:02rub your hand around, open up the rubber band, and show that it's restored.
17:12Now I'm going to show you one last illusion where it will look like I'm actually walking across a wall sideways.
17:20Let's go in the kitchen and take a look.
17:23Ready?
17:24Yeah!
17:34Awesome!
17:35Now come on over here and I'll show you how it's done.
17:37Yeah!
17:38Okay now, here's the way this thing's done.
17:41You make sure that your right foot is even with the wall, see?
17:45And you make sure it's behind the edge of the wall, right there.
17:48Now, you take your right hand and hold it here.
17:52Your left hand goes here.
17:54You lift your left leg up.
17:56And now you pull yourself forward, making sure that your shoulders are even with the wall.
18:01See, they're straight in line with the wall.
18:03Then you look back, and then you come back like this.
18:07Now why don't you go back and I'll show it to you one more time.
18:10Here we go!
18:15And now let's go to the park and check out a story.
18:18If you came home from school and someone told you that they saw somebody walking across a wall sideways, would you believe them?
18:26No!
18:27You'd want to check it out, wouldn't you?
18:28And see if the story was true or not.
18:30Maybe they were mistaken about what they saw, or maybe the person just tricked them.
18:34You know, one of the apostles, he kind of thought that way.
18:37His name was Thomas.
18:38They called him what?
18:39Do you remember, Jeannie?
18:40Doubtful Thomas.
18:41Doubtful Thomas.
18:42Do you remember why they called him that?
18:44Because he always checked things out before he believed it.
18:47He'd always check everything out.
18:49It wasn't because he was mean that he didn't want to believe people.
18:51It's just he wanted to make sure that whatever he believed was what?
18:55The truth.
18:56Well, when he wasn't there, when Jesus appeared to the apostles, he said, I would only believe that Jesus rose from the grave if I could see both the scars in his hands and what else?
19:07Do you remember?
19:08The side.
19:09The side.
19:10See, when he died, a man called an executioner, he's the one that was in charge of making sure that Jesus died on the cross.
19:16And what they did back in those days is if somebody died early, in other words, before the other prisoners on the cross, they would make sure that they were dead because if they weren't dead, they'd do what to the executioner?
19:27Kill him.
19:28They'd kill him, right?
19:29What they would do is they would take a spear and they'd push it in his side, all the way inside of him, to make sure he was dead.
19:36Well, the other two prisoners didn't have scars in them like that, did they?
19:40Thomas, and this is only my opinion, this is just something I've thought about because I'm a magician and I expose people, you know, who say they have tricky powers, who really don't have powers.
19:50I think the reason he wanted to know if there was a scar in Jesus' side is because he thought there might have been a twin brother.
19:58In other words, Jesus might have had a brother who had scars in his hands and feet.
20:02So, what they would do is after Jesus died, they'd bring out his twin brother and they'd say, look, he rose from the grave.
20:08But he knew it was Jesus, how come?
20:10Because when he met him, he saw the what?
20:12He saw the scar on his side, right?
20:15So, what did Thomas do?
20:17He checked it out.
20:18So, if you want to know if the story about Jesus is true or not, what are you going to do?
20:22Check it out.
20:23But if you're going to check something out and you really don't know what to really look for, Trace, what would you probably do?
20:31I would try to look for some facts or something that would tell me what was going on.
20:36Does anybody else have another idea? What about you, Corbin?
20:39I'd find somebody to help me.
20:41That's a good idea.
20:42Now, let me ask you.
20:43Would you just pick anybody to help you?
20:45No, you'd want somebody, number one, that knew something about what they were checking out, right?
20:50And second, you'd want to trust him.
20:52Who's a person that you might go to?
20:54Say if you were trying to check out the story about Jesus, who would you go to?
20:57Brian, who do you think you'd go to?
20:59Well, my parents or my grandparents.
21:01Some of us might be able to go to a Sunday school teacher, and do you know what Jesus said?
21:05He said if you want to go to heaven, you have to believe in him.
21:08Now, I don't know about you, but before I'd want to believe in something like that, because that's really important, is it?
21:14Where you're going to go after you die, you'd want to check it out with all of your what?
21:18All of your mind and all of your heart.
21:22Well, I hope I fooled you with a trick or two, and that you learned a trick or two.
21:26As John told us, when you're trying to figure out what's real and what isn't, what's the real story?
21:31We have to check out the facts and ask questions.
21:34Look at it from different angles.
21:35And if you don't know what to look for or what questions to ask, find someone who can help.
21:39A parent, a relative, teacher, friend.
21:42Just be sure the person you ask knows something about whatever it is you're checking out.
21:46And most important, you must trust them that they're giving you the right facts.
21:50Kids, the story about Jesus is the most important story there is to check out to be sure if it's true.
21:56And not just an illusion, a trick that someone made up a long time ago.
22:00That's what Thomas did.
22:01He checked it out with all of his mind and all of his heart.
22:04I did the same, and I have never been sorry that I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior.
22:09Now, let's watch one more trick, and then I'll see you again in Kid Tricks Part 3.
22:14Sit back in your chair, sit up nice and tall, there you go.
22:18Now, your name is?
22:19Jeremy.
22:20Jeremy.
22:21Good to meet you, Jeremy.
22:22And your name is, of course?
22:23Bobby.
22:24Bobby.
22:25Very good, Bobby.
22:26Now, when a magician does a trick, normally everyone thinks that the hand is quicker than the eye.
22:29Am I right?
22:30This, Jeremy, is the only trick that I do where the hand is definitely quicker than the eye.
22:36Normally, I will do a trick so that if you were to replay it slow motion on a video tape machine,
22:42you wouldn't be able to see how most of my tricks were done.
22:45But this one I'm telling you ahead of time is where the hand is quicker than the eye.
22:48You ready?
22:49Yeah.
22:50What you have to do is I'm going to try and hide the ball so you can't find it.
22:53Is everyone ready?
22:54Here we go.
22:55Watch the ball.
22:56One, two.
22:57Oh, I forgot something.
22:58I need to give you a good looking hat.
23:00There you go.
23:01Official looking magic hat.
23:02How's that?
23:03Is that a great looking hat, guys?
23:05Huh?
23:06Great looking hat.
23:07Ready?
23:08Here we go.
23:09One, two, three.
23:10Left or right hand?
23:11Uh...
23:12Left hand.
23:13Left hand.
23:14No, it was in the right.
23:15What, you think you could do better, Bobby?
23:17It'll be your turn in a second.
23:18Just a minute.
23:19We'll do it one more time.
23:20Ready?
23:21One, two, three.
23:22Left or right hand?
23:23Left.
23:24Left?
23:25No, it's in the right hand.
23:26It's a hard trick, right?
23:27We'll do it one more time.
23:28Okay.
23:29I'll slow it down a little bit.
23:30I'll give you a chance.
23:31Ready?
23:32Everyone be quiet and let Jeremy figure it out.
23:33You ready?
23:34No.
23:35Left or right hand.
23:36Everyone wait.
23:37Let Jeremy make his decision.
23:38Don't say anything.
23:39The left hand?
23:40The left hand?
23:41No.
23:42See, it's not in either hand.
23:43Yeah, is it?
23:44Now, don't anybody tell him how it's done.
23:46Don't anybody tell him how it's done.
23:48Bobby looks like he thinks he could do a better job.
23:51You want to try, Bob?
23:52Alright, look.
23:53I got another ball right here.
23:54I'm going to place it in my hand like this.
23:56One.
23:57Two.
23:58Right or left hand?
23:59No, it's not in either.
24:01See, it's gone.
24:02Isn't that weird?
24:03Bob, would you like to know where it is?
24:05Yeah.
24:06Turn and face all of your friends.
24:08Take your left hand.
24:10Left hand.
24:11Very good.
24:12Slowly, without lifting your right arm.
24:14Without lifting your right arm, put it underneath your right arm.
24:18And feel underneath there, and you'll find the ball is now underneath your arm.
24:22Take it out.
24:23Is that right?
24:24Is that pretty good?
24:25It kind of smells a little bit, but that's okay.
24:28We'll do it one more time.
24:29Ready, Jeremy?
24:30Watch up here.
24:31Ready?
24:32Which one?
24:33Left or right hand?
24:34This one or this one?
24:35Right.
24:36No, it's not in either one.
24:37Matter of fact, look.
24:38If I grab a little dust here, a little dust here, and put it in the hand like this, can
24:41you see it in the hand?
24:42Mm-hmm.
24:43You can.
24:44I don't see anything in the hand.
24:45Do you, Bob?
24:46I don't either.
24:47Look.
24:48I got a little dust here, a little dust here, a little dust there.
24:50Can you see it in the hand now?
24:51No.
24:52No?
24:53Try, because it's right there.
24:55Look at that.
24:56Can you believe that?
24:58Should we try it again?
24:59By the way, I thought that was a good enough trick to get another round of applause.
25:02Don't you?
25:03One more time.
25:04I want you to watch carefully now.
25:06Are you ready?
25:07Watch carefully.
25:08Ready?
25:09Right or left hand?
25:10Right hand.
25:11Right hand.
25:12No, it's not in either one.
25:13Most people think it's in the hat.
25:14Is it in the hat?
25:15Check it.
25:16Is it in the hat?
25:17Would you like to know where it is?
25:18No.
25:19Now, if I tell you where the balls are, do you promise to go get them?
25:21Yes.
25:22Should we tell them where they are, guys?
25:23Yes.
25:24That's it?
25:25Turn around.
25:26And if you'll go back and get the balls for me.
25:28Go ahead.
25:29Go get the balls.
25:30Right?
25:31There you go.
25:32Come on up.
25:33Quick over here.
25:34Right there.
25:35Sit down on the chair.
25:36By the way, were you the teacher's pet when you were in school?
25:39No.
25:40I was.
25:41She couldn't afford a dog.
25:42Sad situation, kids.
25:43We'll put the hat back in place like that.
25:45Let me have the three balls.
25:47We'll put these back in this pocket here.
25:50Yeah.
25:51Come in a little bit closer.
25:52Yeah.
25:53We're going to take this ball and I'm going to place it in the left hand.
25:57You hold my right wrist.
25:59You hold my left.
26:00Now, if I could change, Bobby, these two balls into a screaming little chicken, do you think
26:06that would be a good trick?
26:08You do?
26:09You do?
26:10Well, you didn't pay enough to see that trick.
26:11But, if I held my hands like this, wiggled my thumbs, and the ball jumped from this hand
26:16to this hand, that would be a pretty good trick, wouldn't it?
26:19It's kind of hard to figure something like that out.
26:21Would you like to learn how that's done?
26:22Yeah.
26:23Put your hands out like this.
26:24Right?
26:25Go ahead and close your hand tight and take and close this one tight.
26:28Right?
26:29Now, on the count of three, what I'm going to do is I'm going to smack the two hands together
26:32like this.
26:33Turn them over.
26:34And we're going to cause it to jump from here to here.
26:35You ready?
26:36Mm-hmm.
26:37Close the hand tight.
26:38On the count of three, we'll smack them together and cause it to jump from here to here.
26:40Ready?
26:41Okay.
26:42One, two, boom.
26:43Do you feel it go?
26:44Mm-mm.
26:45Come on.
26:46Matter of fact, let me get you a little magic dust.
26:47I'll put it on each hand.
26:48Close it up.
26:49Put it behind your back.
26:50On my back?
26:51Yeah, put it behind your back.
26:52Put them together.
26:53Do you feel it go?
26:54Say yes.
26:55Yes.
26:56Now, for the hard part to make it go back and bring them out and show them they're
26:58not back in the same place.
27:00I can see you're not too impressed, huh?
27:03I'll tell you what.
27:04Let's make this a little more complicated.
27:05We'll place the head on the table.
27:07I'll give you a little magic dust if you'll hold that, please.
27:10By the way, I've seen guys hold that stuff for three years waiting for something to happen.
27:13There's no magic dust.
27:14You can throw that away, Bobby.
27:15There you go.
27:16Hold this in your hand.
27:17We have a ball here and a ball here.
27:21What I'd like you to do is put your hand up like this.
27:23Left hand.
27:24Left hand.
27:25Close your hand.
27:26No, hold it up like this.
27:27Close it tight.
27:28Turn it over.
27:29What is this?
27:30A little fist like a man.
27:31There you go.
27:32Like a man.
27:33There you go.
27:34Big muscles.
27:35Look at those muscles.
27:36Big muscles, yeah.
27:37Close it tight.
27:38We'll place it underneath the hat.
27:40You ready?
27:41We'll hold it up.
27:43I know you've got kind of B.O., so I'll kind of do like this a little bit.
27:46On the count of three, we're going to cause the ball to jump from the hat inside of his
27:51hand.
27:52You think we can?
27:53I don't think we can.
27:54If I do it, I'll just get lucky.
27:55Ready?
27:56One, two, three.
27:57Zappo.
27:58Do you know why I said Zappo?
28:00Why?
28:01Because I didn't have another word to use.
28:02Turn your hand over slowly.
28:04Open your hand.
28:05And look.
28:06How many do you have in your hand?
28:08Two.
28:09Two balls.
28:10But you know what?
28:11Everyone's thinking, I wonder what's inside the hat.
28:14Am I right?
28:15I wonder what's inside that.
28:16You know what's inside the hat?
28:17You've got a coconut, guys.
28:19A real live coconut.
28:20Feel.
28:21Is that a coconut, Bobby?
28:22Is that a hard coconut?
28:23Yes, sir.
28:24Yeah.
28:25Why don't you stand up?
28:26Stand up, right?
28:27But, you know what?
28:30There's one other thing I forgot to tell you.
28:32The reason this trick works so well is it only took about five minutes.
28:36Let me think.
28:37That looks like your watch, Jeremy.
28:38Is that your watch?
28:40Hey, let's give Jeremy a hand.
28:42Thanks a lot.
