00:14What began as a holiday across the border quickly turned into a harrowing ordeal when
00:19unprecedented floods struck the southern Thai city without warning.
00:23The group of seven found themselves trapped as rapidly rising floodwaters rendered roads
00:28impossible and halted all transportation services.
00:32Hi, I'm from Sungai Petani.
00:34We came as a family, six adults, one child.
00:37We came to Hanoi on the 21st and the water started rising, we were stuck.
00:46We couldn't come out from the hotel and there was no electricity.
00:50Everything was cut off.
00:51As we came in the first day, it was really raining heavily.
00:56And throughout the day, it was raining and at night, we realized the water levels was
01:01really rising.
01:02We were desperate for food and we couldn't go out of the hotels.
01:07We have a kid, one and a half year old, my niece.
01:11We were really, very, very trapped in the hotel.
01:14The water was really rising, nobody could go out, there was no help.
01:18Even the locals were not helping and finally we contacted United States, who came all the
01:25way, really appreciative.
01:28Responding to the crisis, the humanitarian organization deployed a rescue team across the
01:33border to locate and evacuate the stranded Malaysians.
