00:00I'm Sunil Singh from Malaysia, United Sikhs.
00:05I arrived in Punjab on the 20th of August for a family holiday, and that family holiday
00:14now has turned into a humanitarian aid.
00:19Sunil Sukfir Singh, a volunteer with humanitarian organization United Sikhs Malaysia, found
00:25himself witnessing the devastating floods that have inundated thousands of acres of farmland
00:30in Mundapind in Tarantaran district.
00:33On the 3rd of August, waters rose.
00:39On the 3rd of August, until now, the water has not receded.
00:44Actually, today they are saying the water level has actually increased.
00:47There are about 3,600 acres of land that has actually gone under in multiple villages.
01:00And with this land that has submerged, we have multiple families who have suffered extreme
01:08amount of losses due to them losing their way to earn income.
01:15Located along the banks of the Sutlej River, this farming settlement has become one of
01:20the casualties of Punjab's worst flooding crisis in decades, with waters reaching dangerous
01:25levels.
01:26Daily wage workers have lost their source of income for the past 30 days, while thousands
01:31of cattle and buffaloes have been swept away.
01:33So, what we have here is a very, very sad condition of, you know, the land that feed you has now
01:43submerged and become a sea.
01:45In this area itself is about 100 acres of field area.
01:50All has become, all has gone underwater.
01:54This is a season of where you plant paddy, and the whole paddy season is about to be completed.
02:05The river bank broke, everything has been drowned, nothing is left.
02:10The low ground area has turned into a sea.
02:15The devastating floods have submerged more than 1,000 villages throughout Punjab, impacting
02:20around 1.46 million people, including thousands of livestock.
02:25The rescued farm animals now face critical food shortages, with extremely limited feed
02:31available for their survival.
02:33As an initial humanitarian response, United Seeks Malaysia donated 500 bags of livestock
02:39feed to three affected villages.
02:42Sunil says United Seeks Malaysia is also coordinating with local relief teams to provide immediate
02:49assistance to affected farming families.
02:51Lots of work to do.
02:53The current work is actually just keeping people clean enough of food and water.
02:59When the real work starts, when the workers cease, when these people's livelihood are not
03:04used to be brought back to normal, there's a lot of work to be done.
03:09Getting their fields back in the usable condition for the next round of plantation is the real work.
03:19United Seeks Malaysia is also coordinating efforts to help farmers salvage any remaining crops
03:25and equipment.
03:29It's the first day, we have the results that are in the
