00:00Jordan Peele unveils the unnerving first trailer for Candyman, The Proud Family is
00:04coming back to TV, and Taylor Swift is the man. I'm Tiffany Taylor, and right now
00:09I've got the top stories you need to know today from The Hollywood Reporter News.
00:12First, if you're going to say his name, just don't say it five times. Producer
00:16Jordan Peele just unveiled the first trailer for his new horror flick,
00:19Candyman, and there's nothing sweet about it.
00:21This isn't funny!
00:24The new film is a reimagining of the original 1992 movie Candyman, a film Peele calls an
00:31iconic example of representation in the genre, and a movie that inspired me. With
00:36Get Out and Us, Peele famously used the horror genre to tackle social issues such as racial
00:41and economic injustice. According to director Nia DaCosta, social issues run throughout their
00:46version of Candyman, including how gentrification has displaced people and altered neighborhoods.
00:51Up next, they'll make you scream, they'll make you want to sing. The Proud Family is
01:00coming back.
01:0218 years after its Disney Channel premiere, The Proud Family is getting a revival on
01:10Disney+.
01:17The streaming service has greenlit the series titled The Proud Family Louder and Prouder,
01:21which is currently in production at Disney Television Animation. And the original voice
01:25cast is back on board, including Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud,
01:31Paula J. Parker as Trudy Proud, and Joe Marie Payton as Sugar Mama, among others. Cedric the entertainer
01:37will also return as Uncle Bobby Proud. The pair that led the original series, creator
01:42and executive producer Bruce W. Smith, and executive producer Ralph Farquhar are also at
01:47the helm of the new animated family sitcom. The original show, which aired on Disney Channel
01:51from 2001 to 2005, was praised for its messages about inclusion and cultural diversity, winning
01:56multiple awards.
01:57But you invited us over for the holidays. I invited you over for Christmas, which you
02:02ruined yesterday. But we don't celebrate Christmas. We celebrate Kwanzaa. Kwa-who?
02:08Kwanzaa! It's a cultural holiday based on African principles.
02:12Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer at Disney Channels Worldwide, also said,
02:16The genius of the original Proud Family series was that, under the guise of a family comedy,
02:20provided a brilliant social commentary on our life and times. With this new series, Bruce
02:25and Ralph will once again challenge everyone to think differently about the world we share.
02:29And finally, move over men everywhere! Taylor Swift proves she's the man in her brand new
02:34music video for the latest single off her album, Lover, titled The Man. THR's Neha Joy
02:38in New York has more.
02:40The visually stunning clip shows Taylor as, quite literally, the man as she undergoes an intense
02:45makeover to become, well, to put it nicely, a bearded, belligerent corporate bro.
02:49I'd be a fearless leader. I'd be an alpha type. When everyone believes ya. What's that like?
02:57Not gonna lie, she makes a pretty hot guy.
03:00Anyways, it looks like Broey Taylor calls all the shots in this video, fist-pounding and partying
03:04with the dudes, man-spreading in the subway while smoking a cigar, high-fiving after a one-night
03:09stand, and of course, losing his temper on the tennis court with no repercussions. Hate to see it,
03:14but life is pretty easy for Broey Taylor, who, fun fact, is voiced by none other than
03:19Dwayne The Rock Johnson.
03:20Was that last take more of what you had in mind?
03:22Pretty good.
03:23Uh, could you try to be sexier? Maybe more likable this time?
03:27The man is also the first music video that the singer directed solely by herself.
