00:00Now in Peru, during the government of unelected President José Herí, the country reached its highest homicide rate since 2017.
00:09Since October 10, Peru has reported the highest daily homicide rate in seven years under the current government, according to reports from data analysis experts.
00:19In total, 213 homicides were recorded in the country, equivalent to an average of 5.33 per day, based on the death information system.
00:29Despite extending the state of emergency in Lima and Callao, Herí's measures have failed to contain insecurity and it is estimated that the homicides are being committed with an increasingly high level of violence.
