00:04Peru continues to await with great anticipation the final results of the
00:09presidential election which will determine whether Keiko Fujimori or
00:13Roberto Sanchez will become the country's next head of state. With a lead
00:17of just over 1,500 votes in favor of the daughter of former President Alberto
00:21Fujimori, Sanchez proposed on Friday that he and his rival jointly request
00:26that election authorities review the count. At a press conference held in Lima
00:31Sanchez stated that the proposal should include the presence of international
00:35observers and a complete review and recount of the votes. Fujimori for her part
00:40urged Peruvians to remain calm but stay alert as the process continues. Fujimori
00:45of the popular first party received 50.01% of the votes while Sanchez of
00:51Together for Peru received 49.99% according to preliminary results from the
00:59National Office of Electoral Processors.
01:08I propose that together we request within the framework of due process, the
01:16institutional framework of electoral process and the presence of
01:20international observers that we carry out a thorough review.
01:31They want to annul all votes from the south. We are reporting irregularities in Lima and in particular
01:41regarding the votes of Peruvians approach.
